Do you do laundry on Christmas day?

Sorry a bit of a dull thread!

Just wondering if other people stick a wash on? I always seems to have loads of laundry...if I have a day where I don't do any, I find it really piles up and I end up with a backlog. On the other hand, it feels totally shit to do washing on Christmas day! What do you do?

🤣😂 Typical 🤣😂
Whilst reading this thread…. I’ve had to strip my bed to wash the bedding. My medium size dog has just peed & pooped on the bed.😳 She’s never done that before.
Can only wash the cover & sheet at home the duvet is too big. I haven’t got a spare duvet, will have to wait until the launderette is open after Christmas to have a service wash and in the meantime sleep under a selection of blankets until then.
Merry Christmas everyone 🎄🙂🎄

I will be. DS needs fresh bedding every day (toileting related issues which we've yet to find abetter solution to), I don't want smelly bed sheets hanging about, plus he only has two sets, so it would be a faff on boxing day to get both sets washed and dried in a day.

I wouldn't if I could get away without though.

Sillyname63 · 24/12/2021 20:21

Put a load on Xmas eve evening then one on boxing day if you really need too.

@ShirleyPhallus

No, but then I’m always vaguely horrified (yet can’t look away) at MN laundry threads because people often say they have about 3 loads per day and I just can’t imagine creating that volume of laundry.

Wear a jumper twice. Change your towel every 10 days. Nothing will happen except for less laundry to do

Bedding weekly. 4 king size beds so that's 4 days for starters. Towels every 5-7 days as they smell damp. Gym kit for several people daily, undergarments.... we have at least a load a day but often more
BooneyBeautiful · 24/12/2021 20:38

@JustFrustrated

Once a week for towels....after use they go on the heated towel rail/over the bannister. They're never smelly and not manky either. White and fluffy as the day we bought them.
This.

3 of us in our house. 2 boys. One football loving, the other muddy loving so lots of washing. I'll probably do a wash Christmas day night. I was pretty much every day tbh.

Notenoughchocolateomg · 24/12/2021 20:59

Lmao wash pretty much rather!

Lovely13 · 24/12/2021 20:59

If you have a dirty job, mining, agricultural, yes clothes needs a wash every day. Also, babies, nappies etc. But I’m concerned by this need to wash towels etc by people who aren’t doing those jobs. It’s a towel. You were clean when it dried you. What do you think will happen?

TellerTuesday · 24/12/2021 21:02

No, never. My washing basket is full to the brim because I've avoided doing any so that it's not hung around drying on Christmas Day, Boxing Day morning will start with the first load then it'll take me all week to catch back up but hey ho

CambsAlways · 24/12/2021 21:02

Bloody hell, I wash our towels frequently, we all have separate towels, no way could I leave towels for ten days , they must stink yuk

AnnaSW1 · 24/12/2021 21:09

No. Plus no laundry can be out or drying at Xmas. It's just one of my self imposed Xmas rules.

Isababybel · 24/12/2021 21:19

Yes i will do a load tomorrow. Pre dd i wouldnt have bothered.

pinkpantherpink · 24/12/2021 21:20

Good lord no. Sacrilege

Harls1969 · 24/12/2021 21:34

I'm going to have towels that need changing tomorrow so I'll probably stick them on tomorrow

HeronLanyon · 24/12/2021 21:37

No never BUT if I had it tucked away in a utility room away from kitchen and living areas I wouldn’t see it as a no-go.

User762980 · 24/12/2021 22:01

If I need too, there is only me and DH here though so it is no bother

Sandyd1035 · 24/12/2021 22:23

Yes I will but do it early . Can’t bare for washing to build up

peboh · 24/12/2021 22:25

Yes, if it's needed. I've got some bedding and towels that need washing so towels will be in tonight and hung first thing, bedding will go in on the morning, then probably get hung midday and if needed another load can go in in the evening. Usually dishcloths and tea towels from cleaning up the kitchen.

Fluffmum · 24/12/2021 22:30

I do a minimum of one load every day. Il Chuck one on tomorrow night when I get home from my mothers

maybloss2 · 24/12/2021 22:51

A towel should not be left wet-if you hang it up it will dry and not smell. And as you use it to dry a clean body it should last around a week. I also don’t understand people who leave a wet bath mat on the floor where it won’t dry. At least put it on the towel rail or over the side of the bath.
I could go on but I expect yr asleep already 😆

THEDEACON · 24/12/2021 22:54

Won't be washing until at least Monday

lastchristmasigaveyoumyheart · 24/12/2021 22:54

Yes, sometimes. If I'm stood around waiting for something to cook in the kitchen I can easily put some washing on/stick it in the tumble drier or hang it on the airer in the utility.

There are going to be MNers screaming in horror at this, but, honestly, if you really bathe properly, the towel is only wet. I go seven days with mine, hanging it on the bar to dry between washes.

I often wear the same clothes several times, but mind...I am disabled, not active at all, rarely break a sweat, and am a neat eater. My clothes do not get dirty (other than underwear, which is a whole different thing) the way a normally active person's would.

Mooloolabababy · 24/12/2021 23:52

I might do, we have friends staying over tomorrow night so will have to change the sheets so might put those on. I've got washing coming out of my ears at the mo and just can't keep on top of it!! Roll on spring so I can use my washing line again

JuniperBerry1 · 24/12/2021 23:58

Might have to. Going to SIL an hour away and asked the 14 year old to sort his clothes to pack to the cry of "but I have no shorts!"
He asked me to buy some more a couple of weeks ago but I pointed out that it is December........not much mainstream need for shorts!
