Do you do laundry on Christmas day?

Sorry a bit of a dull thread!

Just wondering if other people stick a wash on? I always seems to have loads of laundry...if I have a day where I don't do any, I find it really piles up and I end up with a backlog. On the other hand, it feels totally shit to do washing on Christmas day! What do you do?

I don’t normally put a wash on but today I had an incident in my dog walk today that resulted in me being covered in mud head to toe. Luckily a friend rescued me and all is fine now. I might have had a little cry.

SomethingSuss · 25/12/2021 20:39

I chucked mine on today. Only takes a few minutes and I'm not up to much else.

SlipperySlope99 · 25/12/2021 21:25

Just put second load of the day on- clothes with gravy spills, fat splashes from roasties and we got muddy on a walk after lunch - will sit in machine over night though, tired now

@DisforDarkChocolate

I've just put a load of tea towels on. I managed to get so many messy making dinner.
Impressive - I don’t think I even own enough tea towels to fill a washing machine!
BerriesAndPineCones · 25/12/2021 22:25

No I didn't and didn't yesterday either but I'll soon catch up as there's only 3 of us. Will do some tomorrow

Hopeisamyth · 26/12/2021 08:34

My ex partner MUST have a clean towel after using twice and clean PJ's after 2 uses!🙄he would have a wash on every day just for himself,drove me mad!☹️

icedcoffees · 26/12/2021 08:41

Yeah, I did. I don't see it as a huge deal - it takes five minutes to put it in the machine and take it out again when dry (we have a washer/dryer).

It's not like I had to walk to the nearest river and beat everything on rocks Wink

Pheebs2021 · 26/12/2021 09:20

I ended up doing a wash in the end.

timtam23 · 26/12/2021 09:54

Well did end up doing a wash yesterday as the DCs got new bedding sets for Christmas and they came out of the packets very crisp and smelling quite "chemical", it was very windy here yesterday so I managed to line dry them too. Did wonder if the neighbours think I'm a bit obsessed with laundry though

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 26/12/2021 10:24

No, unless there's a real need (accident/sickness etc). I'll put one on today though as with 7 of us it only takes a day or so to fill the basket & I hate folding huge piles.

I wondered whether my neighbours thought the same!
Treesandsheepeverywhere · 26/12/2021 11:05

@DSGR

Why would they stink? We have a heated towel rail that dries them every day. We do once a week here, nothing stinks
Same, I think they'd only stink in that time if not dried properly each day. Also, some people have stronger odours so tag would contribute to the smell.
DSGR · 26/12/2021 11:19

Agree, they would only stink if left wet. Ours dry really quickly and are only drying squeaky clean bodies!

TheChosenTwo · 26/12/2021 11:46

Coming back to this thread to say I did 2 loads of washing yesterday! One quick one to do a load of tea towels and cloths and another one later on for the tablecloth and napkins. What a raucous and wild Christmas Day update Grin

dementedpixie · 26/12/2021 12:10

@foreverandalways

I was told by my beautiful grandmother years ago that you wash your good luck away if you do x
Is that not a new years day thing rather than Christmas?
dementedpixie · 26/12/2021 12:11

I washed some jeans and jumpers yesterday. Have a white load on today

PinkSyCo · 28/12/2021 08:13

So having been cooking & clearing up all day and finally having the chance to sit down and join in the fun, I was having to change and wash a puke covered bed. She even just stood there whilst I put the clean bedding on.

Why couldn’t your DB change the bedding? Your DN is his child too.

Jollypots · 28/12/2021 13:56

"Change a towel every 10 days" Disgusting. I change my towels every day

HarrisMcCoo · 28/12/2021 15:04

I have a heated towel rail to dry all towels so they don't need washed every day.

I think the impact on the environment of changing towels every day is disgusting.

I agree with @marcopront, changing your towels every day is disgusting!
Jollypots · 28/12/2021 20:50

Not disgusting, Hygienic. Towels have loose skin particles and should be washed regularly.

Every 10 days is regularly. Every year is regularly.

Do you mean frequently?

NotImpossible · 28/12/2021 22:27

@CambsAlways

Bloody hell, I wash our towels frequently, we all have separate towels, no way could I leave towels for ten days , they must stink yuk
They don't. Honestly.
Essemce · 28/12/2021 22:30

Yes I like to keep up with the washing
