I know there seems to be a news story every day about VAWG and it’s endemic and appalling, but I just read this story and literally exclaimed aloud. It’s horrific. I had no idea this was even being prosecuted.

Imagine being on the jury. Those poor women and girls, and their families. I’m shocked to the core by this, so disgusting.

I don't think I've been so shocked by a news item in a long long time. I hadn't heard anything about it either. Those poor families finding out what he did to their relatives. I wouldn't want to know if I were them, the guilt would be horrendous. Imagine being one of the parents of that 9 year old girl, as if they hadn't been through enough heartbreak already.

Threewheeler1 · 04/11/2021 18:56

Beyond belief. I hadn't heard about this case. The extent of his offending and the fact that it took so long to catch him. I feel sick. Their families must be living through hell.
You are right OP, feels as though every day it gets worse. What a time we are living through. It's everywhere SadAngry

Amortentia · 04/11/2021 18:56

Bloody hell. It’s shocking that someone would do what he did and get away for it for so long. Those poor women and their families and the poor souls in the morgue. I can’t imagine how awful it is for them to find out and the police who investigated and then had to inform the families. Makes your skin crawl.

AlphabetAerobics · 04/11/2021 19:01

I met Caroline’s family not long after this happened. It tore them apart and I sincerely hope her parents have lived long enough to finally know what happened to her.

(We’ve long lost touch. )

HyggeTygge · 04/11/2021 19:02

I read the headline as 1,987 murders and thought I had completely lost the plot.

Just absolutely appalling. Also to go to trial and then drag it out before pleading guilty. I'm so so sick of it all. Those poor families.

MintJulia · 04/11/2021 19:08

I'm struggling with how so many men can be so f**king sick.

David Fuller, Wayne Couzens, policemen taking pictures of murdered girls, grown men upskirting with fibre optic cameras in their shoe laces.

What the hell is wrong with them all?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 04/11/2021 19:10

just so awful,
imagine if you knew someone who had died at one of those hospitals?
they have at least family liaison officers,

would it be better not to know?

Movinghouseatlast · 04/11/2021 19:11

Yes, I just read this. It's just so unbelievably awful that someone could be so depraved.

Yusanaim · 04/11/2021 19:14

...and the poor police who had to view the videos, I'm sure that would haunt you for life .

Charley50 · 04/11/2021 19:16

I think I'd rather not know.
Garriet · 04/11/2021 19:16

It’s unbelievable. And he only recorded the videos more recently so who knows how many other victims he’s defiled and violated. If your relative died in that hospital, it would haunt you, wouldn’t it.

I can’t stop thinking about them. It makes me sick.

How shocking and traumatic for the families of all those poor women. I can't understand why they have been told.

immersivereader · 04/11/2021 19:17

Reading about this now. Utterly shocking.

And what kind of a sick fuck films himself doing that? There's a certain amount of off the chart narcissism to do that. What was he doing, watching himself on film afterwards? Confused utterly gross.

To be noted : this was a man. Another one.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 04/11/2021 19:17

he was working up until november 2020!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 04/11/2021 19:18

he wrote their names down in a book also

Garriet · 04/11/2021 19:20

Another one.

Yep.

immersivereader · 04/11/2021 19:22

The police must have had a bloody job on that case, over a million images of extreme pornography.

Caliexpidocioussuper · 04/11/2021 19:24

Another man adding to everything that is wrong with the world. What a surprise.

MsTandme · 04/11/2021 19:26

I know, I don't remember ever hearing about such depravity. I think the necrophilia has just been made public. I feel sorry for the families having to face this. As I have aged I'm more than convinced a large number of men are creeps. I always gave the benefit of doubt but now I go with my gut instinct. They walk among us.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/11/2021 19:26

@MrsLargeEmbodied

It might be better not to know. But if the police didn't tell those people then I suppose they, and all of the friends and relatives of women and girls who'd died in those hospitals would have been left wondering. Awful either way, and dreadful job for those police/family liaison officers.
ComDummings · 04/11/2021 19:27

How the fuck was this subhuman able to get away with this for so long?

AnyaSmells · 04/11/2021 19:29

@oblio they have to be told. That's a basic human right. You can't keep crimes that have come to light from families to be kind or anything

However .. just when I thought I'd read it all. Small children being tortured. Police officers killing. Officers taking pics of murdered women 'for the lols.' That poor woman julia, murdered when walking her dog.

I'm not sure I have the capacity to feel shocked these days

SammyScrounge · 04/11/2021 19:55

Horrid thought that from cradle to grave we attract these revolting perverts. Women are never safe, are they?

EsmaCannonball · 04/11/2021 19:59

What's even more shocking is that there is a second story about a man sexually abusing corpses in the news today. This other man is a funeral director in Lancashire who is also facing charges related to sexually abusing a dog and arranging to abuse a child. And we are told that extreme pornography is just fantasy and we are pearl-clutchers if we object to it. Men have the power to act out their fantasies. With this and the stories about police behaviour, I'm starting to believe men should be banned from certain jobs. Predators will use any advantage.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 04/11/2021 20:01

Another one horrified at what I heard. Unbelievable cruel depravity. My heart goes out to all the families of those women and girls.
