I know there seems to be a news story every day about VAWG and it’s endemic and appalling, but I just read this story and literally exclaimed aloud. It’s horrific. I had no idea this was even being prosecuted.

Imagine being on the jury. Those poor women and girls, and their families. I’m shocked to the core by this, so disgusting.

@NiceGerbil

Oh FFS.
Is this to my reply to you? Why?
NiceGerbil · 05/11/2021 03:01

Thanks tarne.

I agree with some parts of your earlier post and disagree with others.

But not going into that-

It's been known for decades that men who do things like flashing voyeurism often escalate.

In this case and couzens and more I've forgotten the names of. There had been things going on before they got to the really horrific things.

Men like this are prolific.. So so many victims.

The police need to start taking what they see as 'low level' seriously.. They need to see it not as a no harm done everyday thing. But actions of a man that could well become/ already is extremely dangerous.

Get those men earlier and you're preventing loads and loads of women/girls being harmed in one way or another.

Over and over there's fuck all action on women reporting things seen as trivial.

Then it gets serious and it's all who could have known got him. Monster. Nice job.

The patterns and large number of victims of these sorts of men is well known.

So why the fuck doesn't anything change?

NiceGerbil · 05/11/2021 03:02

CallMe no it was the Sabine saville links.

Not heard any of that before.

Tarne · 05/11/2021 03:09

Women are certainly very passive when it comes to such grotesque male behaviour, or is it something in the way it is reported which makes women feel powerless to do or say anything?

Perhaps the Metoo# movement needs to be a bit more focused on the extent of male harm.

Anyone who works in the fields of family law, the police, prison and probation service and with domestic violence victims will know that 90% of male perpetrators ruin the lives of millions of families, and cause incalculable harm to the lives of women and children through sexual, physical, financial and emotional abuse.

NiceGerbil · 05/11/2021 03:20

How do you mean passive?

What are women supposed to do?

We have marched, discussed, reported to police. Talked endlessly about our experiences. Set up stuff to support each other. Been angry for decades.

In this case most most victims were not just passive but dead. The hosp knew he had convictions and had lied and said none. And still gave him all areas pass.

What do you want us to do? We try and try. Nothing happens.

Couzens had two old reports for indecent exposure. Neither followed up. One came up in police checks. As his name on report. Procedure says not a problem. Police confirmed two would not have been problem. Incident few days before. Just flashing standard to do nothing. They had his car reg and multiple witnesses.

I mean over and over I can think of so many examples.

To say women are passive on DV, rape, grooming etc is just not true.

And I suppose the question back is. Why are men passive on this?

Tarne · 05/11/2021 03:37

Why do you think it's so hard for women to get justice anywhere in the world for crimes against them when the whole criminal process is male driven.

Shame, humiliation and financial inequality have kept women quiet and passive throughout the ages.

These are all just facts of life but it would be good if women were more enlightened about the scale of it. Or perhaps it's too frightening and they would rather not know?

NiceGerbil · 05/11/2021 03:38

Women haven't been quiet and passive ever.

Why do you think that? Just out of interest.

endofagain · 05/11/2021 03:41

Not quiet and passive.
Ignored, silenced, belittled, controlled, patronised, yes.

Tarne · 05/11/2021 03:45

Men are passive because they know and many are perhaps ashamed of the scale of their depravity.

Any cursory look at what the average male porn interest is will know sex abuse is a top fantasy.

It's too uncomfortable a fact and taboo to dwell on perhaps.

NiceGerbil · 05/11/2021 03:54

I don't agree with your characterisation of men or women tbh.

That said- the question.

What do you think women should be doing that they aren't?

And how in your view can women change things when the govt, money etc etc is controlled by men?

Maverickess · 05/11/2021 04:41

@1Week

Oh my God.

Is this new, or do we just know more now.
Is it driven by porn??

Is there a way to tell for sure?

I've been wondering this.

Are there the same amount of offences like this as there's always been, but we're catching and punishing more perpetrators - which is a good thing, or are we simply catching more because there's more to catch as the amount of offences has increased? Which obviously means that the fear of being caught and punished is not working.

Sadly I fear that it's the latter because men are allowed to harass, intimidate, abuse and stalk women without much intervention, never mind punishment and as we know, behaviour like that is likely to escalate, especially when it goes for the most part, unchecked.

CallMeRisley · 05/11/2021 04:56

Passive? His victims were literally dead

GobletofFiyah · 05/11/2021 05:49

@Changechangychange sky news article said that the holding room fridges and the post Mortem room fridges were connected but the post mortem room didn't have any cctv as to 'preserve the dignity of the dead' so he could access the PM room with his swipe card after the mortuary staff had gone home as they worked 8-4 and he worked 11-7 and just do what he liked Envy

MsTandme · 05/11/2021 06:41

I think this is something other than violence against women. Necrophilia is a sexual attraction to a Corpse, it could have been Male but in this case wasn't.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/11/2021 06:50

I didnt know his brother took part in a dna trial - i knew it was a family member

CovidCorvid · 05/11/2021 06:56

@covetingthepreciousthings

Although it was interesting to read how they eventually got him as it links to the Manhunt programme that was on tv recently

Yes and very lucky as from what I've read there was a 1,000 person DNA database they searched and it just so happened one of his brother was amongst those 1,000, what are the chances of that!

Interestingly that’s how they recently caught the Californian Night Stalker killer/rapist who’d been very active in the 70s. He was an ex copper! A family member did a genealogy test thing, the police had the killers dna and had already submitted a fake profile so when his relative joined they got an alert.
MsTandme · 05/11/2021 07:06

@ArtfulScreamer

He was married to, when I read things like this I always wonder what the wife is like and what the relationship was like. I can't help but imagine a mouse of a women who had no idea what her husband was up to a feel sorry for her to.
I'm sure I read he was married 3 times!
stereeotype · 05/11/2021 07:10

@MsTandme

I know, I don't remember ever hearing about such depravity. I think the necrophilia has just been made public. I feel sorry for the families having to face this. As I have aged I'm more than convinced a large number of men are creeps. I always gave the benefit of doubt but now I go with my gut instinct. They walk among us.
Completely agree.
MrsLargeEmbodied · 05/11/2021 07:40

i read he was married
and had had two affairs
poor women having to admit to this to the court.

EsmaCannonball · 05/11/2021 07:50

He murdered two women and all the corpses he raped (I think there are almost one hundred) belonged to women and girls. He had equal access to male bodies but chose to violate females. It wasn't just coincidence that all the bodies were female.

The reporting around Nigel Robinson-Wright, the funeral director in Lancashire, is more vague. He has been charged with attempting to abuse a female toddler, and police have found him in possession of extreme sexual images, including child abuse images, images of him sexually abusing a dog, and images of corpses being sexually abuses, corpses which he specifically had access to. The sex of those people has not been mentioned. It is an ongoing case.
