I know there seems to be a news story every day about VAWG and it’s endemic and appalling, but I just read this story and literally exclaimed aloud. It’s horrific. I had no idea this was even being prosecuted.

Imagine being on the jury. Those poor women and girls, and their families. I’m shocked to the core by this, so disgusting.

Women are never safe, not in the hospital, not even in the fucking mortuary.

I'm surprised by how UNshocked I am - there are so many men blithely going about their fetishes now, almost out in the open. Porn encourages them and society to consider a lot of fetishes harmless and benign when they're anything but.

The only "surprise" was the sense that our women and children may not even be safe when they're dead and their bodies in the "care" of a pathologist or undertaker. Would I leave my child alone with a strange man even if they had died? No, I realise today that I would avoid if at all possible. How, I don't know.

I cannot BELIEVE I've had to, all of us have had to, think about that today.

I know, I don't remember ever hearing about such depravity. I think the necrophilia has just been made public. I feel sorry for the families having to face this. As I have aged I'm more than convinced a large number of men are creeps. I always gave the benefit of doubt but now I go with my gut instinct. They walk among us.

For the benefit of the people jumping to conclusions, what I meant was that, this type of Paraphilia is NOT Gender based( I mean the Gender of the victims). I obviously didn't make a good job of wording it. I was talking from a clinical point of view as that is my background. I am in no way speaking up for Men or blaming Women.

All of his victims, dead or alive, adult or child, were female.

Why would I have to have an intention? I came onto a thread to comment. Like you have done. I have a Psychiatric background. I have a professional interest in Paraphiliac disorders. I'm sorry to disappoint you in your pile in but I am a born and bred Feminist. Never been married and have brought up my child alone. Who is also a Feminist and coincidentally a Psychologist too. And just to finish off, I had a close friend who was personally involved with Dennis Neilson , which was an influence in my learning of the disorder.

Frankly as you are someone who has read a lot about the subject you could at least correctly state SEX not gender. It was dead adult human females and dead female children he abused FFS !

And Neilson was a male who abused men he had murdered so I really don’t think your reference tells us anything about this totally vile behaviour

If I had used the term sex based, I think that would have people thinking I meant sex, as in the act of sex. Anyway I don't have to keep explaining myself to strangers, I am appalled at what this man had done. I made a comment about it possibly not being a hate crime against women, although of course I am aware that the victims were all Female. If somehow Necrophilia is a SEX based crime and I don't know that, then I apologise for any offence I have caused.

This case is so deeply upsetting, I think we are all possibly feeling a bit raw. I know I am, so I don 't want to keep arguing. to everyone.

There was another incident not that long ago where a man broke into a funeral home in Birmingham, disturbed several coffins and sexually assaulted two female bodies. Again this man could have assaulted males but he purposefully sought out the female bodies. Paraphilias of all types are far more common in males, and it would seem that men are likely to sexually abuse the corpses of the sex which they are attracted to, rather than just abuse whichever corpse they can get hold of.

A while ago a feminist I follow on Twitter spoke about giving evidence to the police after she witnessed a man indecently exposing himself to a woman who had just been hit by a car and gravely injured. The woman survived with life-changing injuries but at the time it looked like she might die and the man was aroused by that. There was the recent case of the male midwife who was found with extreme child abuse images.
Why did he choose that job? Add to that all those men who get off on choking women, then I think that porn culture is allowing us a horrible glimpse of how many truly sick men are among us, and yet we're never allowed to suspect that men may have ulterior motives without being called bigots or man-haters.
