Just about to start a thread!
I saw the whole thing just now and was disappointed. Total rip off of ET.

icelollycraving · 04/11/2021 07:08

What do you think? I’m not loving it. I don’t think they’ll ever top the year with the little boy watching the clock.

Mydogisagentleman · 04/11/2021 07:09

I should add, I am very envious of the Christmas tree in the house.
Mine is a total mess compared to theirs

MrsDThomas · 04/11/2021 07:09

Is not catchy enough. Feels a bit bleurgh.

I loved Edgar setting fire to stuff. That was the best!

Didn’t they have an ad already? With the boy dancing?

KatherineJaneway · 04/11/2021 07:11

I like it

PurBal · 04/11/2021 07:12

It was crap. But I liked the tag line.

GoodnightGrandma · 04/11/2021 07:12

@MarleneDietrichsSmile

That was for insurance
GoodnightGrandma · 04/11/2021 07:13

Can’t see it on You Tube. Anyone got a link ?

suckingonchillidogs · 04/11/2021 07:15

Wish they'd just use the original song rather than yet another slowed down breathy version

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 04/11/2021 07:16

@MarleneDietrichsSmile

That was for home insurance and it was pulled anyway as it breached advertising rules.
toolazytothinkofausername · 04/11/2021 07:17

@MrsDThomas Why start a thread about the John Lewis Christmas ad but not link it?

Whinge · 04/11/2021 07:19

I thought it was being released at 8am?

EverybodyScream · 04/11/2021 07:19

I hated it :(

Weird

FancyNan · 04/11/2021 07:19

I think they spent all their money on the stupid 'insurance' ad of the boy in a dress trashing the room. Which inevitably got cancelled after lots of complaints about the misleading nessage of the ad.
Deliberately trash your room kids & we'll cover it message aside from the other few

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2021 07:20

I liked it. That's such a great song (if I'm honest I am over the breathy female covers they often use) and although I'm not in tears or anything it's all good.

Roll on the merchandise!

FancyNan · 04/11/2021 07:21

Pressed post too soon. The ad agency ran out of their questionable 'creativity' for the Christmas ad because they spent all of it & ££ on the woke insurance ad.

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2021 07:21

The only link I can find at the moment is from the Daily Mirror-

PinkWaferBiscuit · 04/11/2021 07:22

It was rubbish. It felt like something they had just thrown together.

I'll be interested to see what their merchandise looks like, I could only think of the jumper as being an obvious sellable item.

SickAndTiredAgain · 04/11/2021 07:22

I thought it was fine. Not one of their best.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 04/11/2021 07:23

I think the breathy female covers are what they think they are known for now.

I quite like it. Think it will grow on me more and more. There is a beautiful rapport between the two characters.

I'll see if I can link, but think you need to have a JL account to get the the early preview.

Wow that was shit. Shock

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2021 07:26

We nkow wait to see what everyone else comes out with. John Lewis adverts are generally better than the rest of the offerings.
Although the Argos one with Nandi Bushell drumming still retains top spot for me.

This is working.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 04/11/2021 07:27

They have just shown it on GMB.

I actually really liked it and yes did shed a tear at the end. I cry at all of them though. Even the McDonald's one had me in floods last year!
