Very Stranger Things. Yawn.

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 04/11/2021 12:22

It was very … nothing

icelollycraving · 04/11/2021 13:00

@DickMabutt73962 yes, that was a sweet one too. I want a few tears with my advert!

Last year’s Coca Cola one did it for me

TonyThreePies · 04/11/2021 13:07

Got my tissues out ready for my annual blub, put them away again. Very disappointing.
Baxter the trampolining dog on the other hand...

queenofarles · 04/11/2021 13:16

No Books,
They actually have more things online than in store, a lot of the appliances I was after were not in store, and that’s not just JL , Selfridges too, No kitchenAid instore.

They really do need a bit of revamp from the inside, the lower ground is ok , it’s the ground floor and up , always disorganised.

queenofarles · 04/11/2021 13:18

Oops that was meant for legoisbest

I'm a bit surprised JL have gone all in for Christmas jumpers, though - aren't they a bit of an eco-no-no? Even with a hasty 10% charity donation included?

*Actually I like it. The message is about connecting, sharing and being kind. ❤️ Brought a tear.
Is being kind about having sexual feelings?

Platonic kindness is a little more in the Christmas spirit*

I suppose it’s a bit like beauty, the interpretation is in the eye of the beholder.[/quote]
interpretation is brand development themes of a lifestyle brand

It shares some common themes from the baned one, which failed due to focus on the social message rather than legal obligation to be truthful.

• Children as sexual beings well sex sells, being the first kiss and all.
•The colours associated with the alien and we just have to believe that the alien was a girl or at least not a boy.
•Active boy, he looks younger than a 14 year old but rocking that action man / 007 vibe.
•Again the passive girl disaproving his choices.
Zero parental supervision because life happens when parents are busy ignoring him while doing their own thing.

I loved the idea of going off into the woods to meet a stranger, and making a new family connection by watching movies on electronics.🤳

14 teen year old boys do like their educational visuals and it's cute that he actually checks how receptive she may be to close physical contact shown in the visual aid.

Sweet ad

TheUndeadLovelinessOfDemons · 04/11/2021 13:38

@PermanentTemporary

God i like the idea of a child having a bit of life away from the house tbh. I spent hours in the woods as a kid.

That trampoline one has ended me [orders large ribbon wreath and a box of hankies]

I'm in stitches at the family's faces! Halloween GrinHalloween GrinHalloween Grin
Legoisthebest · 04/11/2021 13:41

queeno no books !! All I want for Christmas is books. Well except for Lego obviously Grin - which I do know they sell. Lots of Lego for me then.

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 04/11/2021 13:45

I liked it and it's one of my favourite songs. So I'm happy

@icelollycraving

What do you think? I’m not loving it. I don’t think they’ll ever top the year with the little boy watching the clock.
100% agree!
WildFlowerBees · 04/11/2021 13:51

Christmas jumper made in China..no thanks.

Balonziaga · 04/11/2021 13:52

I felt nothing watching it and I'm trying to figure out why.

Possibly:

No sense of personality of the boy (not the actors fault but script/direction gave us nothing) so hard to feel emotional.

Didn't make the journey from shy and fearful to communicating and playing. It needed more build up and the playing at the end.

I dunno -meh

@tolazytothinkofausername
Thank you so much for posting that clip ! I'd forgotten that ad ,so so sweet .

Not if you wear them as your only non-school jumper and buy them a size bigger so they last 2 years.
scooterbear · 04/11/2021 14:07

I think it sucks to be honest. Insipid. Dour music. The alien isn't cute. Meh 🤷🏽‍♀️

flicktheswitch22 · 04/11/2021 14:08

Tedious mawkish crap.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 04/11/2021 14:19

The snowman buying the scarf was my favourite too.

Actually, I absolutely adored Sainsbury's Mog's Christmas one, but that was more to do with Mog than Sainsbury's!

Blueskip · 04/11/2021 14:20

It's meh. Also made me feel a bit uncomfortable that this young boy seems smitten with a (presumably much older) alien woman. Certainly doesn't pull on the heartstrings.

I wonder if JL have stopped using focus groups for their advertising campaigns. Seem really off the mark lately.

Pasithea · 04/11/2021 14:24

Shit shit shit shit shit.
