I hope they aren't down playing anything.

I know she is 95 but I hope she really is as ok as they are saying she is.

I wonder if the bank holiday jubilee will still be on.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/10/2021 13:15

hmm yes. Tricky when your spouse has died recently.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 20/10/2021 13:40

She's never off sick is she? She's so old bless her and had such a hard time recently. I hope she's sat at home in the warm resting up watching rubbish TV the way my nan was for her last few years

bestcattoyintheworld · 20/10/2021 13:42

There's a few bugs going round so perhaps she's picked something up.

SunshineCake1 · 20/10/2021 13:43

It does make me worry. It is going to be the biggest change for many people when she does die. She was out the other day and looked well so hopefully it isn't anything serious and maybe she's resting due to the travel needed to do the next engagement.

Viviennemary · 20/10/2021 13:43

I was thinking too she might have got a cough or a cold. There's a lot going round. Not Covid.

Advised to rest for a few days. Trip to NI is off, but expects to be at COP26 later this month.

No word on why, other than it's not covid.

I wonder if she's got that stinker of a cold that's going round?

daisybrown37 · 20/10/2021 13:49

She was working yesterday, so doesn’t seem to be anything too serious.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/10/2021 13:50

She has my intense sympathy if she has. I'm just getting over it now. At 95 it's a miracle she does as much as she normally does. My parents are a few years younger than she is and have slowed down a lot over the years. However, they don't have staff doing everything for them.

Mommabear20 · 20/10/2021 14:03

God save the Queen ❤️

FleasInMyKnees · 20/10/2021 14:04

Wishing her well. She was using a walking stick but at her age she does an amazing job.

OnwardsAndSideways1 · 20/10/2021 14:06

Her schedule appears a tad ridiculous for someone of 95, working yesterday, would have been today, two day trip to NI etc. I think she just needs to do less and pace herself a bit more! I would struggle on that timetable (even with all meals cooked, everything prepared).

Deadringer · 20/10/2021 14:07

Nooooo. She is the same age as my mam and i always feel if she keeps going, so will my mam. Silly i know.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/10/2021 14:09

Not silly at all, @Deadringer. I find myself looking at the ages of well-known people who've died and nowadays they are mostly younger than my parents.

It will be an enormous upheaval when HMQ finally joins the great majority. Nobody under 70 remembers a time when she wasn't our Head of State. She must be one of the most famous faces in the world.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 20/10/2021 14:30

Hope she's ok. She looks like she's lost a bit of weight.

Littleheart5 · 20/10/2021 14:45

I think she’s just being sensible about not attending a politically charged service in N Ireland, where the President of Ireland isn’t attending and is (understandably, we’ve all done it) saying she’s isn’t well as a polite excuse

I also wondered if there might be some security issue, and the vague 'feeling under the weather' line is just an excuse?
Clocktopus · 20/10/2021 14:49

With the covid numbers shooting up, I wonder if it's a discreet way of minimising her contacts and "resting for a few days" is another way of saying "avoiding germs for a bit".

That's a very good point.

I have thought for a while she has lost weight but then she's just been bereaved so of course. I'm sure it is a common occurrence after bereavement. Hope she is okay. I'm not sure as a country we could take the loss of The Queen on top of everything else!

Like many older people she has lost weight but has enough clothes to see her out.
StealthPolarBear · 20/10/2021 17:21

SunshineCake1 · 20/10/2021 17:25

Not sure how many clothes she has is relevant to my point.

gogohm · 20/10/2021 17:27

I suspect it's to ensure she is well for the cop26

SnarkyBag · 20/10/2021 17:31

Not fancying going to work for a couple of days at the age of 95 is probably fairly standard I’d imagine 🤷‍♀️
