I hope they aren't down playing anything.

I know she is 95 but I hope she really is as ok as they are saying she is.

I saw David Attenborough on the news last night. Out and about filming for his latest TV series. He is also 95 and spoke sensibly about how at his age he really couldn't plan far ahead, but while he still could do things he got on and did them. I note his filming location was Kew Gardens, and he lives down the road in Richmond, so possibly his days of galivanting all over the globe with a camera crew are at an end. Sad

Clawdy · 27/10/2021 08:52

I always wonder why Nicholas W is still the royals reporter, when his dislike of the family so often comes across! Guess it dates from hearing Charles call him an awful man!

Yeah, I think it's a while since he actually accompanied the crew to far-flung locations. He 'just' narrates his programmes now.
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/10/2021 09:04

Yes, probably conceives the ideas, writes the scripts etc, but doesn't stray too far from home. Even if he felt up to it, the insurance premiums would be exorbitant.

Gallivanting, of course. Why do these typos not show themselves until after I press post? [blush[

IntermittentParps · 27/10/2021 09:36

But long may he continue!

Tyredofallthis1 · 29/10/2021 21:03

Looks like the sick note has been extended. She won't be at the Albert Hall Remembrance thingy.

julieca · 29/10/2021 21:21

That is a very bad sign if she cant make that.

Malibuismysecrethome · 29/10/2021 21:30

I think she just needs rest she is grieving after all.

summercupcake · 29/10/2021 21:30

She appears to have lost a bit of weight, I know it's common at her age, but it seems quite rapid weight loss if you compare photos of just a month ago. It's very unlike her to take time off sick. It's worrying.

barkingfly · 29/10/2021 22:39

True, much more likely to be on Gransnet.

Would it not be Onesnet?

JBlow · 29/10/2021 22:47

🤣
BiscoffAddict · 29/10/2021 22:49

I will be really worried if she misses the cenotaph.

EdithWeston · 29/10/2021 22:50

@julieca

She's planning to be at the Cenotaph - well on the balcony as she has been in recent years.

They say it's not covid related, but if she's ill with something else, they might want her to SD for a while as well, and that's easier on a balcony with one or two close family (the duchesses) or a lady-in-waiting than it would be in the Albert Hall

julieca · 29/10/2021 22:53

Maybe it is covid? Its certainly more than they are saying.

TokyoSushi · 29/10/2021 22:54

Yes agree with the weight loss, it's quite stark, but could just be age and grief. Agree, if she misses the cenotaph then it's time to worry.

SmellyOldOwls · 29/10/2021 22:55

I think she's more unwell than the palace are letting on. Remember when Prince Philip was sent home from hospital and the media reported it as if it was great that he had been discharged but he had been sent home for end of life care. This seems similar.

Goawaymorningsickeness · 29/10/2021 22:55

@EatSleepRantRepeat

I'm really worried about losing the Queen too. The one remaining female leader with any clout (in England), and I have a feeling a lot of the country will go into shock if she passed away with no warning, like when Diana died but worse. She's the nation's grandmother.
I don’t think anyone can be shocked when she dies. She’s 95. Old people die every day.
HarrisonStickle · 30/10/2021 00:40

I agree that it's more than they are saying and that she's more unwell than they'd like us to believe. I think the worst thing was the "she's in good spirits" part. That sounded ominous, not reassuring!

It's not so much the shock that a 95 year old woman can die, it's that she's been monarch for so long. It'll be a shock to the system when she's no longer here.

madisonbridges · 30/10/2021 01:02

Poor Queenie. I do hope she gets better.

Billandben444 · 30/10/2021 06:38

I know it's coming but I will be very upset when she goes.

Goawaymorningsickeness · 30/10/2021 08:31

@DobbyTheHouseElk

I just hope she’s ok. She’s had a horrible year.
Other than her husband dying at the age of 99 I hardly think she’d had a terrible year compared to what most people have been through the last 18 months.
CaputApriDefero · 30/10/2021 09:37

@Goawaymorningsickeness

Yeah, because everyone's son has been in the papers for procuring sex from trafficked minors.

Everyone's grandson and his wife have publicly trashed their family and caused mistrust of roles that desperately need them.

And everyone else is also 95 and trying to lead a commonwealth during a pandemic, as well as ensuring the successor of a centuries old role is well prepared.

Well said. Even if it was only losing her husband, that is a massive thing especially after all their years together.

DateLoaf · 30/10/2021 10:39

I kind of hope she’s going to live forever. She’s a steadying influence on this country in any crisis and as others have said, for lots of people she is the nation’s grandmother.

BiscoffAddict · 30/10/2021 10:55

The ‘in good spirits’ thing is bothering me. Boris was in good spirits and then the next thing we hear he’s in ICU. Philip was in good spirits and the next thing he’s dead.
