Things you enjoy which are supposed to be terrible

I'm inspired by a thread about ""Nice" Things That Aren't Actually Nice" over on the AIBU board.

I'd love to know about things you (secretly or not-so-secretly) love which you're "supposed" to find dull, inconvenient, or just plain crap.

For me: the cheapest tinned vegetables, replacement bus services (nicer view sometimes!), Travelodges.

Wine
Old fashioned tv shows
Cheese platters
Dry kind of humour

Unfortunately not everyone agrees with me

Since I hit 40, plucking chin hair. There’s something really satisfying about getting it out by the root with a good pair of tweezers. It’s a weird pleasure of middle age.

Scratching between my toes when athletes foot flares up.
Microwave chicken Yankee Burgers.
Bats.

Budgeting. Spending as little as possible. Wearing 20 year old clothes. Going to the hairdresser once a year.

Getting bitten by mosquito and having a nice itchy lump to have a good scratch at
Feeling virusy with aches and a temperature as it’s a valid excuse to relax and it feels cosy
Getting loads of earwax on a cotton bud after a good dig - love the feel of cotton buds in the earcannal

Oh and I love endorphins from exercise, but I don’t think that’s a strange one

Going into hospital for a planned operation I have a great time loads of medical chat all day especially with the theatre staff about the history of anaesthesia and books after on kindle chocolate too.I get a rest too.

Those cheesy balls you only get at Christmas.

Childbirth - was so excited each time, I absolutely loved it. Plus the staff made the best tea and toast!

Ooh as a pp said, I like November too, it's the calm before that big cunt that is Christmas comes clod hopping over my last nerve

I like New Year's Day (as very much opposed to NYE) for that reason. I hate Christmas and I hate NYE. Love the feeling of waking up on NYD and a) the feeling of promise of a new year and b) the holiday shite is all over!
