Do you ever eat in bed?

I don't mean like a cup of tea and biscuits.. Do you ever eat food in bed?
Every so often after a shite day of work I order a takeaway and eat it on my bed.. Before I go to bed I hoover up any crumbs and then put the sheets in the wash the following morning.. I'm not a messy eater but there's always invisible crumbs.

Never now, occasionally when I was a student

I am lucky enough to have space now to have other places to eat.

careerchangeperhaps · 06/10/2021 19:34

Only tea and biscuits, very occasionally toast but never an evening meal at home.

When working away from home, I'll often eat supper on my bed in the hotel though.

lilacdinosaur · 06/10/2021 19:36

The occasional crisps/popcorn/sweets if we have a movie night but never a full meal

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 06/10/2021 19:39

Not since I was a teenager - no need as an adult, I can slob out in any room now I have my own house. I don't have any entertainment in my bedroom aside from the clock radio. Other than sometimes reading myself to sleep, my bedroom is for sleeping/dressing in only.

EileenGC · 06/10/2021 19:44

All the time, but I only have a bedroom and a freezing cold kitchen with bad WiFi. I also live alone and it’s a bit depressing to sit down at a table on your own for every single meal.

Nothing that produces crumbs though. I used to have a big tray I’d put everything on and have managed to eat peanuts (uncracked) without making any mess. If the bedding gets stained it goes in the wash, but that happens about once every 2 years.

If I had a small sofa or comfy chair I could eat on instead, I don’t think I’d eat in my bed.

NoBetterthanSheShouldBe · 06/10/2021 19:44

Never. I don’t like to eat lying down or have smelly food in the bedroom - I have a keen sense of smell so this would include crisps, toast etc.

Spidey66 · 06/10/2021 19:45

No I hate crumbs in bed!

rainbowandglitter · 06/10/2021 19:45

No never. I have a cup of tea very occasionally in bed but nothing else.

Gwrach · 06/10/2021 19:45

No never, strict no food or drink upstairs policy in this house. Glass of water is the only exception.

TangledTrees · 06/10/2021 19:48

Only ever coffee. Hate eating in bed, don’t understand the breakfast in bed thing.

RainforestLizard · 06/10/2021 19:49

No, never. Drink of water - that's it!

TheWonderCat · 06/10/2021 19:49

No, never. I hate crumbs and mess.

Cazzovuoi · 06/10/2021 19:49

Never. Glass of water is all that is consumed.

EatSleepRantRepeat · 06/10/2021 19:51

I sometimes sneak a plate of cheese and crackers upstairs to bed, if I wake up in the middle of the night. Its too cold downstairs to sit in my pj's.

Nutrigrainygoodness · 06/10/2021 19:54

No, unless I have a hangover 😂 then my slaves family bring me toast.

DW on the other hand finishes work late sometimes midnight, so she puts her pj's on and sits and eat crisps/chocolate or toast in bed and watches TV for an hour to chill out. 9 times out of 10 I don't even realise she's there.

Biancadelrioisback · 06/10/2021 19:55

I love having tea (as in dinner) in bed. Preferably nothing crumbly, but pasta dishes, fajitas (pre wrapped obvs) are great bed foods. It is a rare treat though, maybe once every few months. Usually on a night when DH is watching an important sports match or something I'm really not interested in.

heidbuttsupper · 06/10/2021 19:56

All the time! I love it

Veryverycalmnow · 06/10/2021 19:58

My friend always eats meals in/ on her bed, as she has a tiny room in shared flat and just a small kitchen for preparing food but nowhere to eat it. I wouldn't like it, but she's happy.

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 06/10/2021 19:59

Never! Couldn’t do it. Crumbs yuk.

SickAndTiredAgain · 06/10/2021 20:02

I used to sometimes when I lived in a house share.

And I did during my last pregnancy when morning sickness was awful and all I could manage was picking at a plate of oven chips - I’m 6 weeks now with DC2 so that may make a comeback soon!

PostItNow · 06/10/2021 20:02

No it’s not something I fancy doing - dh bringing me a coffee is nice though

EatSleepRantRepeat · 06/10/2021 20:02

Sometimes there is nothing better than hotel room service, eating from a tray on the huge king size bed with a huge fuckoff telly. Especially if you're travelling alone and can watch stuff your OH hates!

Waitinginthewings · 06/10/2021 20:05

All the time.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 06/10/2021 20:05

No, I've had breakfast in bed before but hate the crumbs. When I was a teenager I used to eat my Sunday lunch in bed lol

1forAll74 · 06/10/2021 20:21

Yes sometimes, but I live alone. I was reading in bed last night, as I have problems with sleeping, mainly because of horrible banging tinnitus. So got up, and made two tuna sandwiches, with a few little lovely tomatoes on the plate. I won't be ripping all the bedding off to wash because of crumbs etc. My three cats, all sleep in row at the end of my bed, on their fleece blanket, so they would eat any crumbs if they found any.
