Do you ever eat in bed?

I don't mean like a cup of tea and biscuits.. Do you ever eat food in bed?
Every so often after a shite day of work I order a takeaway and eat it on my bed.. Before I go to bed I hoover up any crumbs and then put the sheets in the wash the following morning.. I'm not a messy eater but there's always invisible crumbs.

Never have and never would.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/10/2021 22:18

We always have either a bacon bagel or a sausage sandwich in bed on a weekend morning. Plus cups of tea! Never ever non-breakfast food.

Roast dinner ?

the question was ‘do you ever eat in bed’. the only reason people who don’t have televisions tell people they don’t have televisions is to imply that it’s a bit déclassé to have one. TV-not-havers are always keen to let you know they don’t have them. you could be eating nutella sandwiches on sliced white and browsing Take a Break - the presence or absence of a TV in the room is an irrelevance.

it’s akin to the weird aversion to en-suites that pops up occasionally, where people seem to think you might as well take a great big shit on the bed, they’re that revolting. bedrooms should apparently be shrines to asceticism, and at least 80 feet from a loo. see also the assumption that eating in bed would make the room ‘stink’. luckily, someone invented the window to avoid such horrendous outcomes.

(i didn’t expect to be living in a studio flat at this point in my life, it makes me defensive. don’t mind me.)

toolazytothinkofausername · 07/10/2021 22:22

@userxx Roast dinner is always on Friday night, and that is always eaten at the table.

I'm thinking that's probably the best place. Way too much going on with a roast !

I'd say too defensive and you're reading way too much into it.

Darkchocolateandcoffee · 07/10/2021 22:29

No. The odd biscuit if you're tired or ill, but nothing more than that. I think it's a bit gross

TheBlackArt · 07/10/2021 22:33

Yep. Not all the time, but I do. In fact, I did tonight. You do you.

mumieone · 07/10/2021 22:35

LOL..no never! Slept at an ex's house once - he brought an ice cold beer to bed that he'd just opened (it was very late). He thought it was perfectly normal - not only did the red flag go up but all the sirens and alarms rang too.
That was our last date!

TheChosenTwo · 07/10/2021 23:50

All this talk of crumbs being brushed off… they aren’t invisibly dissolving in the air Grin and the type of person to do that doesn’t strike me as the type of person who will be zipping round with the hoover first thing in the morning either! Yuck Grin
It’s a no from me, a pint of water by the bed at all times but no food in my bedroom. The dc take snacks up, but things that aren’t ‘crummy’, definitely no meals ever, we eat together as much as possible anyway but meals are eaten in the kitchen regardless.
However, I can’t really get worked up about anyone else doing what they want in their own bedrooms, mine is my sanctuary so I keep it clean and non crummy. You keep yours how you want it!
Anyway, my family call me Hyacinth as they think I’m a massive snob so my views count for nothing Grin
I did once intercept dh coming home from the pub one night trying to smuggle a kebab up the stairs Shock I was downstairs with some friends and he drunkenly rambled about not wanting to interrupt us. He was back downstairs in the other room with that kebab before he knew it. Filthy bastard Grin

Breakfast in bed is lovely especially when staying in a hotel

Djifunrsn · 08/10/2021 00:50

Never ever eat anything in the bed or bedrooms. Nobody in my house does. It basically just causes extra work/cleaning. No thanks!

StarlightLady · 08/10/2021 05:55

Yuk, no!

LadyWithLapdog · 08/10/2021 06:04

No, never crossed my mind.

MinnieMountain · 08/10/2021 06:04

Crumpets occasionally. Otherwise just coffee on Saturdays.

SunShinesBrightly · 08/10/2021 06:13

My first place living on my own was described as a studio flat so basically a bedroom with an en-suite and tiny separate kitchen. I LOVED it but lived like a pig.
All meals were eaten in bed or on the bed. I also smoked and would smoke in bed!

I’ve not smoked or eaten in bed for 20+ years. I might start again...

InnPain · 08/10/2021 06:25

I only have tea in bed, the odd time I’ve had breakfast I’ve not felt relaxed because of the amount of crumbs toast leaves. I did have pizza and chips on the bed once but I was in a hotel so I guess it’s more because I wasn’t responsible for the cleaning afterwards 🤣

RantyAunty · 08/10/2021 06:28

Yes, enjoying a yogurt now

Camomila · 08/10/2021 07:41

No, I don't like the idea of crumbs.
I do drink tea/coffee with a handful of minstrels or a biscuit though while reading in bed though.

EdgeOfTheSky · 08/10/2021 08:22

No, maybe a bowl of cereal in the middle of the night if I can’t sleep.

It’s a faff carrying stuff up and not comfortable enough to warrant.

If I am not at the table I eat off my lap in my TV watching chair.

No TV in the bedroom. Maybe that’s a factor.

EdgeOfTheSky · 08/10/2021 08:26

Eek! I sometimes take a glass of red wine to bed while reading in bed.

Is that worthy of an emergency response? 😳

BertieBotts · 08/10/2021 08:32

Only if you want to date that poster.

BertieBotts · 08/10/2021 08:32

It feels impossible to stem the flow of debris, dust, sand, crumbs and general disgustingness into bed as it is without adding actual eating into the mix.

GetDrunkWithMe · 08/10/2021 08:34

A yogurt or a packet of chocolate buttons maybe. Grin I wash my bedding twice a week though and Hoover every day so I don't have a crumb problem.
You do you! No need to judge others.
