Do you ever eat in bed?

I don't mean like a cup of tea and biscuits.. Do you ever eat food in bed?
Every so often after a shite day of work I order a takeaway and eat it on my bed.. Before I go to bed I hoover up any crumbs and then put the sheets in the wash the following morning.. I'm not a messy eater but there's always invisible crumbs.

No, but I like to get up early, make a cup of tea and take it back to bed and read on my phone for a bit.

RockingAmadeus · 06/10/2021 20:56

I love to have my coffee and toast/croissant in bed every morning, feels very decedent lol. Not so keen on the crumbs though.

Bluntness100 · 06/10/2021 20:57

@needtogetfit21

Yes! It's my 'comfort'. Order a takeaway then eat in bed. Those IKEA trays are fab and great for dh but I rarely make a mess
Does the room not stink?
RockingAmadeus · 06/10/2021 20:58

Sorry *decadent

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 06/10/2021 20:59

Very occasionally, if everyone else has got up and gone out early on a Saturday or Sunday, I'll make tea and toast and take it back to bed.

I can't imagine eating anything other than that though.

CandyLeBonBon · 06/10/2021 20:59

@SerenShine

Pizza in bed is a joyous thing 😋
^^this
RealLemons · 06/10/2021 21:01

Yes. I construct a whole tray of cheese, crackers, chutneys and a large whiskey, to be consumed in bed whilst watching lives in the wild or some off grid living show. I'm a careful eater, never any crumbs. My mum would be ashamed of me if she knew, strictly no food anywhere except the table when growing up. Grin

Vindo · 06/10/2021 21:02

Not a meal and nothing with crumbs. Cup of tea and a bar of chocolate if I've had a crap day is good though.

poohaloo · 06/10/2021 21:03

Only when I'm ill
Then I know I'm coming down with something 😬

magicstar1 · 06/10/2021 21:12

All the time. I usually bring up some fruit or chocolate and watch tv before sleeping. DH often does breakfast in bed at the weekend too. It’s great.

Burgerlover9 · 06/10/2021 21:15

@RealMckoi

Sometimes! If I do though it usually reflects a particularly shit/draining day
This is exactly it.

Arrived late to a hotel in London once. Got McDonalds and ate it on the bed. Put the empty wrapping on the floor while I ate my McFlurry and a mouse came scurrying along to clear it up. Completely freaked me out and even though I know I don't have a mouse problem at home, I can't take food upstairs.
I also now put my foot down if work set an unreasonable budget for my London hotels.

AutistAwayWithUrConditionalLuv · 06/10/2021 21:19

I never do. I cannot stand the possibility of crumbs (or ants, even though that would take a lot but still...) in bed or the bedroom. Not worth the stress for me.

AutistAwayWithUrConditionalLuv · 06/10/2021 21:20

Yes, see?! Also the possibility of missed crumbs attracting mice too or whatever else.

Florence282 · 06/10/2021 21:22

I have a day off mid week and my favourite thing to do is get all the boring jobs done, go for a walk with the dog then make a snacky lunch, cup of tea, hot water bottle, good book , light a candle and get snuggled up in bed for a few hours before the DC get home. It's bliss.

EileenGC · 06/10/2021 21:23

Does the room not stink?

In my case no, because the windows are open for almost the whole day. If I didn’t open my windows or air the room regularly then yes, it would stink.

moirarosebabay · 06/10/2021 21:27

I love eating in bed! Feels so decadent! Mostly chocolate but sometimes crisps as well.

parentinghelp1 · 06/10/2021 21:28

Very very rarely, if so it would only ever be breakfast or a fruit bowl for example. Not a full on meal!

HelloDulling · 06/10/2021 21:30

Tea every morning. Marmite on toast if I’m hungover.

Thewiseoneincognito · 06/10/2021 21:44

I have breakfast in bed every day, the prospect of eating breakfast hurriedly at the table makes me quite uncomfortable. I allow myself 1 hour to relax and eat before showering. No hideous commute though and a decent start time so I can afford the time to do it.

RoseMartha · 06/10/2021 22:09

Sometimes toast or porridge at weekends. Not lunch or dinner.

EwwSprouts · 06/10/2021 22:11

No. Just a cup of tea.

HeronLanyon · 06/10/2021 22:18

Never ever breakfast.
Never ever lunch.
Very occasionally dinner if I’m alone not going out have had a long day winter so dark and cold very possibly raining outside and am switching off knackered. I might watch iPad and eat in bed. Maybe 3 or 4 times a winter. Nothing crumbly.

When ill then all bets off and bed is where everything is eaten between sleep. Haven’t been ‘bed ill’ for a very long time.

SingingSands · 06/10/2021 22:31

I've never done it. I don't have a Tv in my bedroom. I can't see myself eating in bed staring at the walls Grin

TuftyMarmoset · 06/10/2021 22:33

No, I'm a klutz and don't trust myself not to spill things. Household rule is no food upstairs. Tea is allowed in the study but only water in the bedroom.
