Do you ever eat in bed?

I don't mean like a cup of tea and biscuits.. Do you ever eat food in bed?
Every so often after a shite day of work I order a takeaway and eat it on my bed.. Before I go to bed I hoover up any crumbs and then put the sheets in the wash the following morning.. I'm not a messy eater but there's always invisible crumbs.

Not since I was a teen. I'm not a fan of breakfast in bed because I like to brush my teeth as soon as I wake up. Also, I haven't had a nice bedroom that I'm keen to spend time in for years ( I'm late 40's) as I have been in a constant state of house renovation ( on 3 properties) for years now.

Yep, I love getting a takeaway on a child free evening and taking it up to bed to eat while I watch tv. Also have bed picnics with DC where we all pile into my bed with snacks and sandwiches to watch a film together. It's no biggie just shake the bed off afterwards - no crumbs!

Rubyupbeat · 07/10/2021 09:21

No way, crumbs, smells, teeth....yuk!
Just a glass of water.

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/10/2021 09:23

Yes, as our duvet covers attest Grin

My husband lives with chronic pain and sometimes at the end of a working day it’s the only place he’s vaguely comfortable.

Teeth???? What?????

AntiHop · 07/10/2021 09:30

Yes breakfast in bed most weekends.

Crumbs brush off, food smells nice, teeth get brushed before sleep. I'm not seeing the issue!

We quite often have toast/crumpets on a weekend morning.
I used to eat dinner in bed all the time as a student/young adult, then it became a treat, now I hate it! Occasionally I'll have a sandwich whilst watching something in TV in bed.

ThePotatoCroquette · 07/10/2021 09:54

Sometimes I'll have some secret sweets or chocolate so the kids don't snarf mine. Never anything that is hot or has crumbs, though. I take drinks all the time though.

TheQueenOfDreams · 07/10/2021 09:59

Never. Unless I’m to ill to get up.

sashh · 07/10/2021 10:24

@EatSleepRantRepeat

Sometimes there is nothing better than hotel room service, eating from a tray on the huge king size bed with a huge fuckoff telly. Especially if you're travelling alone and can watch stuff your OH hates!
I had to do some travelling for work, I stayed in the same hotel and would have a drink in the bar, but the time they put me in the honeymoon suite I had room service.

Depending on my health I do occasionally eat in bed. I put another cover over to catch any crumbs.

@DDUW

I eat all my meals in bed. Actually just a mattress on slats.
Confused

DDUW is really Mr Gum.

Cas112 · 07/10/2021 11:50

When I'm rough on the odd occasion or when I'm extremely sad and want to curl up in a ball and not leave my bed!

I do tend to hate myself for it afterwards though haha!

Bluntness100 · 07/10/2021 11:54

I wonder if the difference is those who have TVs in their bedrooms, we don’t, so just trailing a Chinese take away upstairs and sitting in bed eating it would seem very odd indeed.

EerilyDisembodied · 07/10/2021 11:56

We do have a TV in our room but don't eat there. Don't use the telly much though.

EileenGC · 07/10/2021 12:06

I don’t have a TV anywhere, my flat is all on one level so it’s the same amount of walking to the kitchen or the bedroom. I also fall into the ‘mattresses on slats’ category because I don’t actually have a proper bed. MN must think I live a grim existence Grin

Ellarain · 07/10/2021 12:10

Yes, I love it.

TuftyMarmoset · 07/10/2021 12:11

Is a mattress on slats just a bed with no legs? We slept on a mattress plonked straight on the floor for the first 8 months of living here due to needing work done and not being able to get it due to the pandemic. No TV here either.

fucknuckle · 07/10/2021 21:43

i always enjoy the implied superiority of people who don’t have TVs in their bedrooms, or in the house at all.

my bedroom is also my living room, my bed is warm as i can’t afford the heating on all day and night. therefore i watch TV in bed and sometimes eat there as well. what a terrible slattern i am, and probably a bit thick as well.

televisions are not an indicator of a moral/societal failing. i bet those without TVs watch stuff on a laptop or tablet, but i am expecting to hear that actually they spend their spare time doing something worthy like cryptic crosswords or organic macrame.

No implied superiority at all. As stupid as me claiming those with TVs in the bedroom are implying they're rich enough to have a TV in the bedroom too 🤷🏼‍♀️

toolazytothinkofausername · 07/10/2021 22:01

Most of my meals Blush

MoreThanAnOffDay · 07/10/2021 22:04

Water only upstairs.
The very odd time me and dh have had tea and chocolate watching a film mainly because its got chilly downstairs and not worth putting heating on an hour b4 bed.
