Locked in a shop overnight.

If you were locked in a shop overnight ( by yourself and in no danger )
Which type of shop would you choose ?
Mine would 100% be a bookshop . Even better if it had somewhere to make a coffee / tea.
My idea of heaven.

Frigginintheriggin · 29/09/2021 17:38

@WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks I know/knew a shoe shop attached to a bar in a sleepy Irish backwater 🤣🤣

LubaLuca · 29/09/2021 17:42

A big garden centre. Lots of interesting things to look at, nice food section usually, clothes to put on to keep warm, books about military history, and garden furniture to sleep on.

I once worked in a public building and someone did get locked in over night. We suspected it was on purpose as we always called out 3 times minimum in the lead up to closing, a bell was rung at closing every day and checked every area. It was a man and we suspected he had hidden.
There were phones in the building that could have been accessed to call the police if trapped. Windows could be opened to get out from and there was a fire exit. Plenty of ways to get out.
My colleague who was in charge got a written warning.

Food and water shop and choccy !

wildchild554 · 29/09/2021 17:52

None, I was locked in a library with my baby and toddler because I was using baby change and they failed to check if I'd finished, was stuck in the kids crying and alarms going off when I realized what had happed and we were trapped in the dark for 2 hours till 101 managed to track down the key owner to let us out. That's enough to put me off ever ending up trapped in a building again lol.

Department store. Preferably John Lewis. I’m shallow!

Neolara · 29/09/2021 17:55

Joh Lewis. Comfy beds. Big screen TV. Fluffy towels. Hotel Chocolat for a little treat. Lovely.

janj2301 · 29/09/2021 17:56

A few years back it was a "thing" to try and get locked into a store overnight. B&Q used to have a night shift stocking the shelves, when they stopped that the last people in had to go round the store, the stock room, staff room and loos to check noone was trying to hide, they didn't do it to steal just to show on SM

Jeannie88 · 29/09/2021 17:57

Can it be a zoo or an animal sanctuary? 🤔

FishesWithWishes · 29/09/2021 18:00

IKEA, it's got everything 👍

HT1990 · 29/09/2021 18:06

Costco

dementor72 · 29/09/2021 18:09

Harrods in the late 70’s would be my heaven - when it had the New England Ice Cream Counter in the massive food hall .
And the pets ….
Used to haunt that place on Saturdays 🤣

Whatamess582 · 29/09/2021 18:11

Harrods, Harvey Nics, Selfridges or John Lewis.
They’ve got everything.
Clothes beds couches books wine, working kitchen, sound systems…. Probably even staff showers.
And there are no doors between the sections so no difficulty getting around. So I would probably start off in the food hall and choose some delicious ridiculously expensive dinner…. Caviar and whatnot… grab a lovley bottle of plonk and put it on ice (the fish counter), head up to one of the posh concessions and get dressed up to the nines, play some music and dance around like a noodle, have dinner at a stunningly decorated table, curl up on a couch and watch some TV on an insanely massive screen with surround sound, gorge on some delicious chocolates, and then head down to lingerie for some nightwear and then to the book section to grab a read and then the bed section and grab the most ergonomically sound bed for a fantastic nights sleep.

Wasn’t there a film where some kids got locked in a department store overnight (deliberately i think)??? Race to witch mountain???

Explosivefarts · 29/09/2021 18:21

I used to dream of being locked in Woolworths overnight when I was a kid so I could eat the pick and mix

Lavanderrose · 29/09/2021 18:22

IKEA, I could cook my self dinner and have a comfy nights sleep as well.

Underpaidsnackbitch · 29/09/2021 18:26

Wine warehouse / majestic or whole foods or something similar.

ajja2021 · 29/09/2021 18:26

The range

Excitedannie · 29/09/2021 18:29

A bit off thread, but I got locked in the local dump once...

Darceyhemingway · 29/09/2021 18:33

Harrods

Darceyhemingway · 29/09/2021 18:34

Or Selfridges

FourTeaFallOut · 29/09/2021 18:36

Could I be locked in the cinema, fire up all the popcorn and watch all the movies?

ALittleBitConfused1 · 29/09/2021 18:46

I actually have dreams about this, I think it's because mannequin is my fave film lol. Defo a department store.
