Locked in a shop overnight.

If you were locked in a shop overnight ( by yourself and in no danger )
Which type of shop would you choose ?
Mine would 100% be a bookshop . Even better if it had somewhere to make a coffee / tea.
My idea of heaven.

A piano shop with amazingly expensive grand pianos to try out. Heaven!

I also choose IKEA... I always have a book with me (or at least on my phone), so I'd choose a nice bed and curl up and read for a bit, then sleep. It has a cafe and toilets, plus the kids' section has toys and there's a textiles bit - loads to do!

My first thought was a bookshop, but realistically I'd only read one book - I'd rather do that at home!

I'm always a bit creeped out by the idea of being in a shop at night, though. My dad used to work in a large clothes shop in a town near Belfast; for several years in the 1990s there were threats of firebombs being left in the run up to Christmas, and the staff took it in turns to stay overnight in the shop to keep an eye for fires starting. It just sounded so horrible and creepy that the idea of shops at night still freaks me out a bit!

@lnsufficientFuns

Without doubt a bed shop
Yeah I’m with you. Least I can get a decent nights kip Grin

If it hadn't closed, Jenners in Edinburgh. I'd finally work out where all the stairs went!

Plus, as a department store they have everything you'd need.

Tigger1895 · 29/09/2021 22:45

A sex toy shop. Test the merchandise before buying

BlancheB · 29/09/2021 22:45

This would be my idea of a nightmare. Especially a department store with all those creepy mannequins which must surely come to life in the middle of the night when you're all alone Shock

For the PP who wants a book store with a bar, you just need to end up in a store like Black Books WineSmile

Ladybyrd · 29/09/2021 22:51

Harrods. I'd start in the food hall, work my way up, then hide in the toilets until opening time.

Ladybyrd · 29/09/2021 22:53

"Not the same but I spent the night in the British Museum once. Slept next to the Elgin Marbles"

You intrigue me.

josbd · 30/09/2021 00:10

A high-end hi-fi shop

Mamanyt · 30/09/2021 00:24

Well...bookshop with an attached coffee shop would be best...but, if I were to be realistic, ANY shop with a working telephone, insuring that I would NOT be locked in overnight to begin with.

simitra · 30/09/2021 00:35

Harrods

FibroFighter81 · 30/09/2021 00:41

The Big Shop from Sarah & Duck

RockinHorseShit · 30/09/2021 00:47

Harrods for me too, I'd dress up in glamorous gowns & eat fabulous food, but only after letting the kittens out to join me(do they still have those, I haven't been in a while) & we could curl up on the pet beds that are bigger than me & fancier than any bed. I think I'd end up lounging on a shocking pink velvet or leopardskin in a red velvet gown, decked with jewels & nibbling on stupidly expensivebut oh so worth it chocolate

TonyThreePies · 30/09/2021 01:15

My local John Lewis. It has a Waitrose downstairs. I would try on all the fancy frocks, lingerie, make up and skin treatments, then go down to Waitrose for some snacks and wine and take them up to the TV/music department to watch the big screens while I ate them. I'd then raid their haberdashery department for a few creative things to do then settle down on one of their bed displays with a super expensive down duvet and pillow for a nap, wearing a soft fleecy pj set. This sounds wonderful to me!

Sankhomumof3 · 30/09/2021 01:59

Department store either Selfridges or Harrods!! Try on lots of designer clothes, shoes and bags. Slather myself in fancy skincare and make up and perfume, dec myself in jewellery and then pop down to the food hall. Finally chillout on a sofa watch a movie on one of the tv screens and then pass out on a lovely squishy bed. Wake up and go straight to the toy section and pretend I'm 5 again lol. Delve through the bookstore section. Fantasy of mine since I was a kid 😂😂😂

BikeRunSki · 30/09/2021 02:52

@MarshaBradyo

The nicest department store that has beds, food and books

Does Harrods have all those not sure

Yes
Ddot · 30/09/2021 04:53

Someone said liberty, that's a good one. I could go our back and draw patterns and maybe just maybe I would see someone wearing my creations one day. That would be a real treat

WindyRose · 30/09/2021 06:57

A fabric store, specially if they had lots of haberdashery too! That would be like dying and going to (sewing) heaven.

NashvilleQueen · 30/09/2021 07:05

Harrids, F&M or Liberty

NashvilleQueen · 30/09/2021 07:05

Harrids? Harrods

Ahardyfool · 30/09/2021 08:42

Any old newsagent that sells lottery scratchcards should do it for me.

ohthestruggles · 30/09/2021 09:36

M&M world in London

DagenhamRoundhouse · 30/09/2021 09:47

I often thought it would be lovely to be locked into Harrods overnight. All you need - luxurious bed and bedding, food and drink, warm coats! Or failing that, Selfridges!

TattiePants · 30/09/2021 10:03

Mine would be Barter Books in Alnwick, a huge second hand bookshop with comfy sofas, a roaring fire and a coffee machine at the front. There’s also a lovely cafe. Although it’s in an old railway station so might be a bit creepy after dark!

Sn0tnose · 30/09/2021 11:30

Selfridges. I’d quite like to live in Selfridges.
