Locked in a shop overnight.

If you were locked in a shop overnight ( by yourself and in no danger )
Which type of shop would you choose ?
Mine would 100% be a bookshop . Even better if it had somewhere to make a coffee / tea.
My idea of heaven.

A bookshop, 100%. Ideally somewhere with a cafe so I could make lots of tea!

mummog · 28/09/2021 15:19

@LaTomatina

IKEA! Especially if I had access to the cafe as well as the showroom.
Yes IKEA!!
Bobsyer · 28/09/2021 15:19

Ikea or John Lewis. Somewhere with a made up bed and a cafe anyway!

LaBellina · 28/09/2021 15:21

A department store.

First I would try all the makeup and the perfume. Then go to the food department for some lovely snacks which I would eat whilst reading books. Would probably try on expensive clothes too to see what is worth to splurge on and check what colors and shapes look best on me.

Sarcobaleno · 28/09/2021 15:22

John Lewis. There's a cafe, clothes, fancy stuff, could sleep...

3luckystars · 28/09/2021 15:23

Oh and the nice dressing gowns too!

MissScarlettOhara · 28/09/2021 15:24

I was initially thinking bookshop too, but then I started wondering how many books could I realistically read overnight. Like...three maybe? So if I want to stay up all night reading three books I could just do that at home?! So maybe I need to do something better!

I'm giving this too much thought I think Grin

Lemoncurd · 28/09/2021 15:25

@Eminybob not overnight, seemed like a long time at the time but probably wasn't. As a teen I finished work on New Year's Eve and quickly got changed to go out. Went to leave and the doors were all locked and the staff receptionist had gone. Couldn't find anyone in the store anywhere, tried phoning the petrol station but they couldn't help. My mum said she called the police Blush
Ended up just sitting in the staff reception and eventually a supervisor appeared from the cash office, think she got quite a shock!

MissScarlettOhara · 28/09/2021 15:25

@Lemoncurd we need to hear more about this!

SmellyOldOwls · 28/09/2021 15:26

Somewhere with loads of nice food where I could just eat all night. And booze.

Bounce55 · 28/09/2021 15:27

A chip shop
Preferably with Ray Winstone
We could play 'hide the saveloy'

Rannva · 28/09/2021 15:27

Nah. Couldn't read that many books in 8 hours, but imagine how many donuts/chocolate you could get through...

Strangevipers · 28/09/2021 15:27

Does kfc class as a shop

Mabelface · 28/09/2021 15:28

An art shop where I could play with all the mediums

rossogingerale · 28/09/2021 15:30

Costco without a doubt!

Crunched · 28/09/2021 15:34

I fantasise about this happening to me in Selfridges. I believe a few customers and some staff had to stay in the Birmingham store for one night when a heavy snow storm hit. Oh what bliss!

Dobbyafreeelf · 28/09/2021 15:35

IKEA for sure. Pretty sure I could live in IKEA (minus the other people of course!)
In fact I'm pretty sure people used to try and deliberately get locked in IKEA!

DeviousLatte · 28/09/2021 15:35

Oh yes, Ikea - they have everything, bed, food/ drinks and even books (on display). That would do me nicely. Or a fancy chocolate shop.

KatherineSiena · 28/09/2021 15:39

Fortnum & Mason’s. It’s always been my go to place for a wander when I need a pick me up. Although I’d probably be walking up and down their stairs a lot to offset all the chocolates and other goodies I’d eat.

Waterstones in Piccadilly would be a close second. Floors of books plus a coffee shop and their lovely cocktail bar all to myself.

FatBettyintheCoop · 28/09/2021 15:40

Hyperdales!!!!

Brilliant episode.

MarshaBradyo · 28/09/2021 15:40

They’d have to make it that whatever you eat in that period doesn’t apply. No calories gained

Davros · 28/09/2021 15:41

I knew someone who got locked in a pub overnight years ago. It was a City pub near London Bridge so no one lived there. I think he was passed out in the bogs. He came round and got stuck back in to the booze! Can't remember what happened the next day. It was late 70s!

WeatherwaxOn · 28/09/2021 15:42

First choice would be a bookshop. Otherwise IKEA or a large fancy department store - Liberty would be nice.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 28/09/2021 15:42

Definitely Ikea.

myrtilles · 28/09/2021 15:43

John Lewis. I remember being envious of people who were stuck there once when there was a heavy snowfall.
