My mum has just been rushed into hospital

She had a bad headache, wanted to be sick and seemed confused/weak. She's not well in general but I've never seen her look so bad. She's been positive with Covid too so came to stay with me so I could keep an eye on her.

I'm fucking terrified. Have to wait for a couple of hours before I can ring the hospital and I'm just numb. My dad is no help. I need to tell my sister but don't want to worry her until I know something.

I don't even know why I'm posting, just need to get it out I think

I hope she is OK. I would tell your sister as she might be more support than your dad and would probably want to be kept in the loop. Flowers

Sorry to hear you are going through this. Your mum will be getting the best care possible right now. Hope everything turns out ok for you all. Flowers

Thank you.

Gonna make myself a cuppa and try to eat something then sort a bag out for her. Practical things.

Just let my sister know.

Trying to get through to the hospital but it's just ringing out.

If it helps, my mum was extremely unwell and few weeks ago - terrible headache, kept collapsing - and was rushed to hospital with a suspected brain bleed.

It wasn't, and after an admittedly tough week in hospital she was able to come home and is absolutely fine now.

I'm keeping everything crossed for your mum.

Mariell · 09/09/2021 19:09

Best wishes to your mum.

QuestionableMouse · 09/09/2021 19:22

Thank you both.

The not knowing is awful. ☹️☹️☹️

Handhold here too Flowers

maxineputyourredshoeson · 09/09/2021 20:05

I’m so sorry OP Flowers

We had this a few months ago with MIL, it was so tricky getting through to the hospital.

Esmereldashome · 09/09/2021 20:23

Another hand hold, she's in the best place. Hopefully they can run some tests and get some fluids in to her. You need to be as calm as possible,
once they establish the cause they can treat it. 24 hours can make a huge difference. Try not too worry but I know its easier said than done. Flowers.

Antinerak · 09/09/2021 20:26

She's in the best place and they'll do everything to help her. We're here for you too. Is anyone with you?

QuestionableMouse · 09/09/2021 20:39

Thank you! My dad's here too. We're both worried sick ☹️

Russell19 · 09/09/2021 20:47

I had a similar Situation a few months ago and couldn't get through to the hospital after my dad being taken in by ambulance. I ended up finding a different number or a number for ambulance triage I think it was and called that that someone answered. What number are you calling? Main reception?

QuestionableMouse · 09/09/2021 20:50

Calling the number for A&E. Will see if I can find a different number. (It's North Tees hospital, if anyone knows.)

Oh fuck it doesn't sound good. She's sedated, waiting for a scan and they don't know if it was a stroke or brain bleed or something else.
