My mum has just been rushed into hospital

She had a bad headache, wanted to be sick and seemed confused/weak. She's not well in general but I've never seen her look so bad. She's been positive with Covid too so came to stay with me so I could keep an eye on her.

I'm fucking terrified. Have to wait for a couple of hours before I can ring the hospital and I'm just numb. My dad is no help. I need to tell my sister but don't want to worry her until I know something.

I don't even know why I'm posting, just need to get it out I think

Attempting to wake her up is a good sign, they wouldn't if she was very unstable. Fingers crossed and sending lots of good thoughts your way. Are you looking after yourself, eating and resting?

They will reduce sedation (sedation hold) to check her obs and reactions as she wakes but don't be surprised if subsequently she is sedated again while still ventilated. Hope the doctor has positive news for you.

Spoke to the doctor

She's very poorly and is still on a vent, but she's stable. There's some concern that she's aspirated fluid or food into her lungs.

They're not sure what is going on but there are no signs of a bleed or stroke yet and they're going to keep scanning her

Her heart and kidneys are okay for the moment and they're keeping a close eye on them

They're treating her for an (brain?) infection just in case and she's on a Covid bay

They're going to try to wake her up tomorrow to see how she's doing.

So not brilliant news but it's not terrible awful either. If things work out, we can hopefully get a video call with her tomorrow.

No better but no worse. They still don't know what caused it but are giving her another scan and are trying to to reduce the sedation. She keeps biting on the vent tube which means they're keeping her under more.
