That’s good to hear. It’s good for eczema and really dry skin too.

AlviarinAesSedai · 05/07/2022 21:34

That’s brilliant news Someaddedsugar.
I can’t believe we are nearer Christmas (sorry) than New Year’s Day.
Loving the weather, but it could rain on a night if it must😊.
Sixth form is now finished for my youngest, can’t believe non advanced education is over. The years have flown by. And she finally had a prom.

AlviarinAesSedai · 05/07/2022 22:56

Anyone going to Durham Gala this Saturday? I’m staying home, the crowds are too much for me. I like the bands and the banners.

MsMarvellous · 06/07/2022 04:50

My H is going with my kids but I'm away unfortunately. Shame as I've never been.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/07/2022 06:47

Hurrah he is getting better some
no gala for me

Someaddedsugar · 06/07/2022 06:50

We were meant to be taking DS to the cinema to see the new Minions film at the weekend but we're thinking of going to a different cinema as I imagine Durham will be very busy with the gala

@AlviarinAesSedai hope your daughter enjoyed her prom!

I want to see new minions movie, Vue at Gateshead is nice and free parking. Think you ask for token from cinema.

AlviarinAesSedai · 07/07/2022 16:40

Job advert is out for Boyes at Arnison centre. So think Hobbycraft mustn’t be coming. I’m sad but my bank account is happy.

Someaddedsugar · 07/07/2022 16:46

@AlviarinAesSedai where did you find the job advert? I'm pleased there'll be a Boyes locally but it's a shame about Hobbycraft! I thought we'd have one by now!

AlviarinAesSedai · 07/07/2022 16:49

On their Facebook page.

Someaddedsugar · 07/07/2022 16:50

Thank you - I'll pass on to DNephew 😊

A boyes isn't good sniffed at. And as you say, better than Hobbycraft on the pocket!

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/07/2022 21:02

I like boyes.

AlviarinAesSedai · 07/07/2022 21:12

I love Boyes, sells everything.
Especially old stock underwear from a famous clothes/food shop, might be old colours but who cares. 😊

Someaddedsugar · 07/07/2022 23:10

My DM once bought Stella McCartney t-shirt in the Darlington Boyes. Old stock but a bargain!

I love Boyes, it’s my go to shop for craft stuff and haberdashery supplies, undies, t shits, DH got a couple of pairs of Sketchers shoes half price, bargain. I couldn’t find any fabric to make my future Son in law a waistcoat for the wedding, I went to Boyes and found an Ivory damask table cloth that was the perfect colour, pattern and weight and made the waistcoat out of it. Big hit.
I tend to go the one in Billingham, it’s less cluttered than the one in Guisborough, even though Guis store is closer to me.

AlviarinAesSedai · 08/07/2022 16:48

I’m also relieved that the Chester le Street store isn’t closing. I often buy old fashioned oven gloves and tea towels.
I wonder which unit they are taking, we think old Laura Ashley shop.
No reason to go to Durham city. Everything will be at Arnison centre.

Someaddedsugar · 08/07/2022 20:42

There's work going on at that unit now @AlviarinAesSedai so I think you're right. I imagine it'll be very popular as they really do sell everything.

Did anyone go to the gala today? The pictures on social look amazing! We were lucky and went to the Odeon in Durham to see the Minions film and the car park underneath was empty. I'm guessing people who weren't heading to the gala avoided Durham today?

OP posts:
AlviarinAesSedai · 10/07/2022 00:19

Didn’t go but the pictures looked amazing. I always get a little lump in my throat when I see our village’s banner.
Hope you enjoyed the film. I really want to see it as I love Gru. But I’m a bit old.
Even the Arnison had car park space’s.

AlviarinAesSedai · 10/07/2022 01:07

When I was there yesterday saw the Boyes signs on the floor of the unit near Poundland.
As this thread is coming to a close, has been lovely chatting.

Someaddedsugar · 10/07/2022 06:21

@AlviarinAesSedai there were quite a few adults without children yesterday. I don't think you can ever be too old for the cinema Smile.

I still can't understand putting a gym on a shopping site. It must be a big gym!

I've started a new thread here for anyone who wants to continue the chat!
