Hi everyone, I am new to this chat
if you don’t mind me joining? I live in Durham.

AlviarinAesSedai · 02/06/2022 13:17

Welcome @ParadiseCove

AlviarinAesSedai · 02/06/2022 13:20

Went to Broom House farm today about 11 am it was heaving. We had to park in overflow car park. Everyone must have been going to the Adventure trail.
Have lovely long weekend everyone.👸

You have had some sunshine for it!

We were thinking of heading there today but the Adventure Trail was sold out so headed into Durham to see the Jubilee umbrellas at Prince Bishops instead.

Someaddedsugar · 02/06/2022 13:48

Thank you @lifelongfrugaleer @Flumpaphone

We've been to Broom House Farm too - it's heaving! Managed to get a table for lunch though.

Hope you all have a lovely long weekend!

Hi @ParadiseCove!

Hi @Someaddedsugar !

Hope you have a good long weekend everyone.

There is a beacon lighting at St John's in Meadowfield this eve but not sure we'll be able to make it.

PickAChew · 02/06/2022 18:14

DH got a pic of the umbrellas, this morning. He quite enjoyed the spots of shade!

@PickAChew that's a brilliant photo!

@PickAChew

Fab photo! It was a bit drizzly when we were there but the umbrellas were effective!

Heading to Beamish tomorrow which I expect will be busy too...

AlviarinAesSedai · 02/06/2022 19:10

I would get to Beamish early, they closed the car parks today as no parking spaces left!
Looking forward to seeing the umbrellas Saturday.
The rain this afternoon ☔️

AlviarinAesSedai · 02/06/2022 19:11

Yes, PickAChew what a fab photo

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 02/06/2022 19:27

I was decorating today ahead of the village street party on Sunday. The village hall and the street next to it now look very suitably major Brexit and Ukip supporter around the time of a general election. It'll be lovely to just get people together and talk and laugh though.

Not surprising everywhere was rammed. I really want to go somewhere on Saturday but am struggling to think of places that won't be completely horrible due to crowds. Ideally somewhere to swim and take the kayak and paddle board.

myrtleWilson · 02/06/2022 21:58

That photo deserves to be published @PickAChew ! Welcome @ParadiseCove

I do love the knitted postbox hats I've seen out and about!

ParadiseCove · 02/06/2022 22:11

@AlviarinAesSedai Thanks for the tip about Beamish parking - will have to try and get there a bit earlier than we were planning in that case!

@myrtleWilson Thanks for the welcome! Will be keeping an eye out for the knitted post boxes. I saw a photo of one with knitted corgis which looked impressive!

AlviarinAesSedai · 02/06/2022 22:26

I’m enjoying the knitted post boxes.
Hope you have pre booked Beamish tickets. Just seen on Facebook page, unbooked tickets from 1pm. Booked prior.
Thrilled they are having such a good start. I need to visit the new 50’s part. Soon they will be doing the 70’s. Then I will feel super old. 😆

PickAChew · 02/06/2022 23:09

He just snapped it on his phone but the light is just right for that narrow street and you can't even tell which shops are empty!

MsMarvellous · 03/06/2022 16:24

Hi @ParadiseCove. Welcome.

We're not venturing far this weekend. Our kids are having friends sleepover and we're buoying our local countryside.

That tongue looks ready to lick the camera!

Popped over to the arnison centre to pick up new glasses for Ds1, this afternoon. It was surprisingly quiet.

ParadiseCove · 03/06/2022 18:34

Great photo @MsMarvellous

We have finally spotted some of the knitted post boxes! Hurrah!

Beamish was very busy but we got parked ok thankfully.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/06/2022 21:38

I luffs a moo cow

MsMarvellous · 04/06/2022 06:58

These guys are just over the road from our house at the moment. They're so lovely 🥰

Someaddedsugar · 04/06/2022 07:11

What gorgeous neighbours @MsMarvellous!

I need to go and pick up our click and collect order from Sainsburys this morning - hoping it's quiet!

Did Beamish feel busy once you were inside @ParadiseCove?

Having been worried everywhere nice would be packed today we've had a brilliant time swimming and Kayaking in the Tees at a very quiet but perfect spot. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Village Street Party tomorrow!

AlviarinAesSedai · 04/06/2022 18:16

Been to Durham this afternoon and there was an anti-vaccine rally! Ridiculous
Loads of police.
On the plus side saw the swan sitting on it’s nest. The geese had laid in eggs in it’s nest too!
