The antivaxxers were at county hall, last weekend. They asked dh for help putting their banners and he said "I don't think so!"

AlviarinAesSedai · 04/06/2022 19:37

What a waste of police time! Haven’t they got anything better to do. Vaccines save billions of lives every year.
Nobody was really listening to them! They were just in the way!
I thought at first it was an anti government protest. 😆

They where on Framwellgate gate bridge (stone one)

AlviarinAesSedai · 04/06/2022 19:38

What amazing weather we are having.

Been to Durham this afternoon and there was an anti-vaccine rally! Ridiculous
Loads of police.
On the plus side saw the swan sitting on it’s nest. The geese had laid in eggs in it’s nest too!

I know, it was really busy on the bridge this afternoon too! I was completely oblivious as to what they were protesting about...

Beamish was fine yesterday and no issues with the parking in the morning - the only queues we saw were for the fish and chip shop at lunchtime. Some friends of ours visited earlier in the week and said it had been ridiculously busy.

Florelei · 05/06/2022 07:56

I don’t understand what the anti vaccine people are actually protesting against. Does anyone know?

Id love to understand their legitimate concerns.

I went to Lanchester garden centre yesterday for lunch after going to the Arnison centre to get my eyebrows done. The Arnison was a lot quieter than I expected but the garden centre was really really busy.

Someaddedsugar · 05/06/2022 08:27

I was wondering the same @Florelei - surely the majority have been vaccinated by now?

We're off to a soft play party this morning and then need to find something to do this afternoon. We had our jubilee party yesterday so hoping most people are having theirs today and places will be quiet!

I hope the cloud lifts for everyone who is having their party today. I think there are two street parties going on elsewhere in our village and it would be such a shame for it to be cloudy today.

We're off to a friend's for tea and cake later so hopefully we can get outside!

Lanchester garden centre is always heaving. For actual plants I go to the nursery just outside Tow Law!

AlviarinAesSedai · 05/06/2022 15:18

It was weird they have loudhailer at market place.
They should have been wearing tin hats. One placard had something about BBC vaccine hoax.

AlviarinAesSedai · 09/06/2022 13:45

The weather has been so unsettled, lovely one minute then raining next. Feels cold for June. But nice today.

MsMarvellous · 09/06/2022 17:43

It's been strangely warm even when soggy!

I finally got chickens (one of the things I promised myself when we moved rural) do any of you keep hens. But if a learning curve!

Someaddedsugar · 09/06/2022 18:41

@MsMarvellous I would love to have chickens! Do yours have names?

OP posts:
MsMarvellous · 09/06/2022 19:04

Yes! One is snoopy. One is buttercup. One is Michele. One is Esmeralda. I now wave to anyone who might recognise me 🤣

AlviarinAesSedai · 09/06/2022 19:54

We have hens, DD has named them all. She says they all have different personalities.

Someaddedsugar · 09/06/2022 20:22

Buttercup is such a good name for a chicken!

@AlviarinAesSedai what are yours called?

I love seeing the ones at Broom House Farm - they always look like they're so busy'

OP posts:
AlviarinAesSedai · 09/06/2022 20:34

They are always busy, eating anything that moves, having constant dust baths. Watching them fight over a mouse, is something I will never forget.
It was awful having to keep them in during Bird flu. Many a day my DD came home crying because they wanted to get outside in the sun. 😞
Everyone I know names them, weird and wonderful names.

AlviarinAesSedai · 09/06/2022 20:43

Open farm Sunday at Broom House farm this Sunday. Looks like it will be great day.

Ah the Open Farm sounds great (also any excuse for nice cake...)

Is anyone going to the regatta in Durham this weekend? Thinking of going on Saturday but haven't been since I was a student!

MsMarvellous · 12/06/2022 12:18

Its so windy. I was going to have a fire ti burn some garden rubbish today but Darden's risk it!

AlviarinAesSedai · 12/06/2022 15:06

Hope the Regatta went well. I have never been!
Very windy today, but a lovely day out of the wind.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 12/06/2022 17:05

Crazy windy. I've been at the allotment yesterday and today. My asparagus is practically growing horizontal now!

AlviarinAesSedai · 12/06/2022 20:20

Envious of your asparagus . OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea .We tried to grow once from crowns and by year three, DH had forgotten where is had planted and he weeded them into compost bin. 😆

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 13/06/2022 07:29

This is the first year so I've been watching it grow and having to leave it to go to seed. Looking forward to being able to have a small harvest next year. It is in raised beds so hopefully limited chance of forgetting where it is. Though we are definitely the most clueless of all allotment holders.

AlviarinAesSedai · 13/06/2022 12:47

Raised beds are such a good idea. It feels such a waste watching them go to seed. But the wait we be worth it.
DH was in the zone and double digging 😱and just forgot. I’m more for the no dig method 😅. Lazy me.
But is an amazing for his mental health and fitness and we get food so win win.

MsMarvellous · 13/06/2022 17:23

I only have spuds and garlic this year. But wove not been in the house that long and just cutting everything back took most of last year!

AlviarinAesSedai · 17/06/2022 15:30

Anyone waiting for our heatwave?
