The sh*ttiest thing that someone has said to you?

What's the rudest/sh*ttiest thing that someone has said to/asked you?

Years ago, I was a bridesmaid for a (now ex) friend. I was blonde at the time and she asked me to dye my hair brown as she preferred it darker. Hmm
I did not dye my hair brown.

My first baby was in SCBU and it was touch and go for a while.

I hadn’t told anyone he’d been born as he was early (this was pre social media and phones being tied to you 24/7).

I bumped into a friend in the hospital corridor - on hearing ds was born and sick she said “oh well - just think, if he does die, you can come out for new year’s eve!”

Luckily I was stunned or I would have decked her.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/08/2021 19:25

"I'm glad your baby died because I had been worried how you'd cope with 5 kids"

  • best friend in 2009, when I told her I had a miscarriage.
she's no longer a friend.

And we had 3 more kids, and we are coping just fine

Houseofvelour · 22/08/2021 20:07

@ActonSquirrel rtft and you'll see the actual worst things said to me 🙄

My post is relatively mild as it was something that has always stuck with me and I found really rude.
When people started digging deep, I decided it was only fair that I did the same.

I'm sorry for all the cunts that were horrible to us all. Let's hope karma gets them. 🤞

I left an abusive man, escaped him really, and a while later my brother said something shocking to me about how i had carelessly brought children i couldnt control or support in to world. I was like.... wow. They were just being pre schoolers. They werent out torching cars or robbing 7-11s
That shocked me more than anything my x ever said to me and he said some awful things to me!

MyShoelaceIsUndone · 22/08/2021 20:26

A friend, I was 26, she said you’re quite pretty when you look down

15 and at school someone said I had a fat arse and would never get a boyfriend

Historyfan · 22/08/2021 20:35

My mother-if I hadn’t had you, then your father and I could have lived our lives the way we wanted to and would have been so happy together

Picking holes in that,I didn’t ask to be born-they wanted kids-they had been married 7 years and 3 miscarriages before having me,I’m told their marriage almost died because they really wanted a baby but where told they’d never have them

Plus I have 3 brothers!would their lives have been better child free or just without me?

Guess I’ll never know

ErinAoife · 22/08/2021 20:42

My ex telling me that I should be grateful that he did not leave me when the kids were small (our youngest was 4 when he left), that the kids were imposed to him, that I was fat, should get my teeth fixed, my eyes fixed, should be more feminine.

Theunamedcat · 22/08/2021 20:49

My dentist telling me I wasn't trying hard enough with my teeth ive literally brushed my gum away at one point in my mouth because of this comment I have a medical condition which gives me a dry mouth and causes a ton of dental issues but she doesn't seem to believe it quite mean of her as I'm terrified of dentists and this comment wounded me

Afolnerd · 22/08/2021 21:05

A religious door knocker told me that the reason my baby was so ill, (we though we were going to lose her more than once) was because of original sin and that she was being punished for things I had done. After my initial reaction of slamming the door in his face I cried for a long time and I still remember it clearly now 14 years on.

crumbsnamechange · 22/08/2021 21:08

My best friend at school told me I'd be obese and diabetic by 20 because I "eat like a pig".

I've always been slim and she's always struggled with her weight; she's now obese.

I'm just giving this example as horrible comments by others often reveal more about their own insecurities/issues than they say about you. It can be quite eye-opening!

Chitchatchatter · 22/08/2021 21:08

So many utter, utter bastards. Flowers to everyone who has suffered so much.

My school nurse told me when I was about 13 that my acne was the evil coming out in me.

On the first day back to school I walked into our office and my co worker (with 3 others in the room)
Greeted me with ‘Wow you’re legs have got really far’
I was distraught and I’ve never gotten over it

Your fat

Sorry

ninnynonny · 22/08/2021 21:20

My mother never congratulated me on any of my pregnancies. Her main contribution with baby one was to offer to pay for a termination and with the others to say how she wished abortion had been legal when she was pregnant with me and why didn't I choose that option? Of course as soon as her grandchildren were born they could do no wrong and I was a dreadful mother

TheVolturi · 22/08/2021 21:22

A guy who I used to see on nights out, always talked to him, in a platonic way, for a couple of years. One night he said you know, your great really, don't listen to what everyone says about you, I like you! 🙄 It really negged me out and I didn't speak to him again, I mean, what did he mean?

ninnynonny · 22/08/2021 21:22

Sadly I was so used to her always criticising me that I always accepted it. It's only since she's died that, although I did love her, I've realised how unkind she could be

manipulatrice · 22/08/2021 21:23

You are not my priority.

From a parent at 15 👍🏻

PearlyBird · 22/08/2021 21:24

I remember years ago, id put on a bit of weight and I knew it, a plump man at work said to me

''pearly, you're looking quite fat right now'!' and I was so shocked, I could have frozen but out of somewhere, the words ''fatter than you?'' came out of my mouth. And he was really pissy with me from then on!

Malibukev · 22/08/2021 21:25

One night out on the town chatting to some bloke and his friend came over and said something something shallow hal.

I mean I was a size 16 and it hit me hard. Although I knew I was a bit bigger than some girls I always felt confident in myself and like I looked good.

pinkdot · 22/08/2021 21:33

I was at my DH Christmas work party and I got chatting to one of the big bosses wives. She asked if I had taken time off work to go to the party and I told her that I was actually on maternity leave. She replied with 'oh amazing, I thought you were! How long now? You look ready to pop! Do you know if your having a girl or boy?' I told her that my daughter was 7 months old. I don't know who looked more embarrassed.
The worst part was, I was feeling great and was wearing a pretty size 12 dress!

TowandaForever · 22/08/2021 21:37

@Tara336

My personal trainer at the gym, when I told him I had just been diagnosed with MS.. laughed, threw him self on the floor and pretended to tremor while shouting “this will be you in a few years”
That's one of the worst things I've ever read. What a complete asshole.
