What's the rudest/sh*ttiest thing that someone has said to/asked you?

Years ago, I was a bridesmaid for a (now ex) friend. I was blonde at the time and she asked me to dye my hair brown as she preferred it darker. Hmm
I did not dye my hair brown.

Some of these are awful!!

Many by man I dated before DH…

You could be really pretty if you lost some weight (I’m a size 12)

I can see why people compare you to Martine McCutcheon (I’d mentioned this in a who do people say you look like convo ) but she’s beautiful, no offence.

What perfume do you wear? Maybe change it, it might help you find a man.

You’re not clever you know, anyone could do what you do for a living.

All different short lived relationships…!!

rainbowstardrops · 22/08/2021 11:25

These are awful.
I had someone ask me if I was pregnant once when I wasn't. It was in front of a few people too and I was so embarrassed and taken aback. That was years ago and I still remember it. I was much slimmer back then than I am now!!!

Dumbitdown · 22/08/2021 11:49

My friend's mother when I was 11 years old, after the friend and I had had an argument during a game and she ran off to tell tales: "You're nothing but an inner city tinker and you'll never make anything of your life."
We were next door neighbours in a fairly swanky suburban estate.

My ex of nearly 20 years, after I caught him cheating: "I did it because you don't have a good enough job (I was running my own business), you can't have children and you've let yourself go."

It's saddening, the effect these comments can have on us.

Male boss who had taken me under his wing and was offering development opportunities.

“You’re too good looking to need to work, you should be at home being fucked and looked after princess”

Decided to turn down his “development opportunity”

Morporkia · 22/08/2021 12:17

Your mother didn’t want you. Why would my son...

Brollypackedforscottishholiday · 22/08/2021 12:20

On the bus with a screaming ds a known awful woman screamed I should have kept my f-ing legs shut.
I got off the bus..
And learned to drive before the next dc arrived!!

dottypencilcase · 22/08/2021 12:25

That I was a burden to him (husband) and he resented providing for me (I had a toddler at the time and was 8 months pregnant with our second.

Jeebus, @NowWhatUsernameShallIHave!!! What an arsehole!!!

ButtonMooooon · 22/08/2021 12:58

After 6 years of secondary infertility, came home from hospital with long awaited DS2 and my MIL said to DH "is that it, is she done now" as if I was popping kids out every 9 months

ilovethecold · 22/08/2021 13:02

My son was born 3 years ago and we was induced as he had 2 bowel obstructions while I was pregnant , 2 days later my dad visits , I'm clearly stressed from the birth and that I haven't been able to cuddle my son due to him being in theatre for 11 hours. He tells me he hates my sons name so he will be calling him ' Harry 'but he was the one hasn't spoke to me since as i refused to change his name

steppingcarefully · 22/08/2021 13:38

These were said to me by my best friend when I was pregnant with my first child but I found it funny!
"I didn't know you were carrying triplets, one in the womb and one in each arse cheek"
Then a few hours after my baby was born she walked in, looked at my stomach and said
"I thought you'd had the baby"
She is still my best friend!

Justilou1 · 22/08/2021 14:15

@steppingcarefully… Why? Are you constantly covering for her issues or has she eroded your self-esteem so much that you have become dependent on her? You can’t tell me you’d tolerate that from a man!

steppingcarefully · 22/08/2021 14:22

Because I have a sense of humuor and know it was said as a joke!

@Dentistlakes

When I was holding newborn DS1 a random woman in a shop came up and said ‘they all look like slugs at this age don’t they!’. After enduring 8 years of IVF to have him, she’s lucky I didn’t punch her. It was such an idiotic thing to say I was stunned into silence. I wouldn’t be now!
Oh noooo I hope that wasn't me! I often say it's amazing how babies are like slugs in your arms b
professionalcockney · 22/08/2021 18:43

Posted too soon!

I say how its amazing how babies start off like slugs in your arms and end up growing into an actual person!

I'm sorry if it was me 😳

Treezan82 · 22/08/2021 18:45

That I had pnd because I didn't love my child enough.

I did not dye my hair brown.

Then you're very lucky if that is the shittiest thing anyone has ever said to you Confused

My first bf at uni thought he was better than me and everyone else. Arrogant cock.

His grandparents were extremely rude to me and I said why didn't you defend me. He said don't say a word about my family they had servants when younger and probably had people like you working for them.

He didn't get another chance to insult me again. That was it.

Sorry about your hair you must be utterly devastated by that being the shittiest thing ever said to you.

ClemDanFango · 22/08/2021 18:54

“You’ve put on so much weight. Your baby is 5 months old already there’s no excuse for it really.” Said to me in a pub in full earshot of the 12 others we were sitting with. Everyone went dead silent and I felt so embarrassed.
I asked her if she meant to say it out loud. She quipped back smugly about being a “straight talking person.” So I told her that was great because I’d been wanting to tell her a few home truths for a while and as she liked straight talk… I then proceeded to tear her a new one. She was stunned into silence and got up and left. Probably should have been the bigger person blah blah and all that but I just couldn’t help myself.

Tara336 · 22/08/2021 18:54

My personal trainer at the gym, when I told him I had just been diagnosed with MS.. laughed, threw him self on the floor and pretended to tremor while shouting “this will be you in a few years”

Adm1010 · 22/08/2021 18:56

One that sticks in it head . I was quite heavily pregnant and working agency shifts as a nurse . I had quite bad back pain which caused me to limp but I needed to work as we had very little money . I overheard an HCA refer to me as “ hopalong agency “ It really upset me at the time and I cried when I got home

Justilou1 · 22/08/2021 19:13

@Tara336 - I’m so sorry! I assume you threw weights at him & complained

AngelPrint · 22/08/2021 19:13

When I was 16, working a YTS scheme in a department store, I had to wear jeans and one of the cheap T-shirt’s we were promoting. I was an insecure awkward teen (despite being size 10-12) and wanted to wear the T-shirt hung loose.

My bitch of a supervisor (who was worryingly thin and I now think had her own food issues) told me to tuck it in and I said I’d rather not as it makes me “look fat”.

She replied… “well you are fat, what do you think you are, skinny?”

I burst into tears and ran off to some older nicer colleagues who looked out for me and they went mad. She ended up having to apologise to me and she said, “I’m sorry about what I said but if it bothers you that much do something about it Shock

So if you’re reading this Leanne… fuck you! 🖕

nuggles · 22/08/2021 19:16

MIL to my on my wedding:

  1. Put some darker lipstick on you look awful
  1. No one cares about the bride, the mother in law is the most important person at the wedding
  1. Now you're married, you can call me and FIL mum and dad, you don't need to go home (I was bought up my dad after my mum died when I was little)

Still can't get over how rude she is

Tara336 · 22/08/2021 19:21

@Justilou1 in all honesty I was so shocked I didn’t say anything at the time just walked away. I did swap personal trainers and told him why, apparently it was not the dimensions thing to take other trainers clients but he understood why and when he told the original PT I was swapping he wanted to apologise to me but I refused to speak to him and asked that he just stay away from me. I did tell the gym in writing and they didn’t respond
