I'm off to town today to check a dormant account.

I've had a letter from Santander to say I have q dormant Instant Saver account so I am heading into town to find out how much is in there.

Anyone want to help guess?

For background, I opened the account over 15 years ago and at that time was earning about £28k.

I drove a new car and saved up enough to travel the world, but what is left in this forgotten account.

Did I stash a cheeky grand. Or £100 to open it. Or is it empty or maybe containing £4.36.

I'm quite excited.

What do you all think?

My old passbook savings account I have from where I was 20 has the grand total balance of 11p. I'm surprised the bank don't close it.

I'm flipping between daydreaming about ££££ to hoping it'll cover new school shoes for DS. Then a rather pessimistic probably bugger all.

A thousand pound would be wonderful right now though!

I will indeed update.

I'm digging out all the paperwork now to prove that I am indeed me.

Mine had £700 in from when I was a student (and scared of dealing with money!). So there may be hope!

BleddyHell · 20/08/2021 10:32

£5.35 is my guess. Nothing like this ever happens to me, I'm a bit jealous 😆

RomComPhooey · 20/08/2021 10:33

Take plenty of ID to prove it is yours.

I forgot one account in a house move when the paperwork got buried abs packed away. Literally ten years later I emptied the box and found it. Nearly £8000!

ohthestruggles · 20/08/2021 10:35

£12

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 20/08/2021 10:36

£780. But an admin charge of £50 to get it.

Makhiaman · 20/08/2021 10:36

£7.32

I went to check on an old bank account and it turned out a charity had continued trying to collect a DD from it every month for years. Was a nightmare, hope yours is more straightforward!

ifonly4 · 20/08/2021 10:36

Don't want to raise your hopes, OP, but I came across an old passbook a few years ago which I'd forgotten about - it had about £1000 in it.
