What would you eat for dinner if you had a rare night home alone?

DH is out tomorrow which is a rarity and I'm really looking forward to having a night in to myself, chilling out and watching what I want on TV. I'll need dinner and can't decide what to have. Takeaway is an option, cooking is an option but nothing too time consuming as I'll have beem t work all day.

What would you make? Please inspire me!

Gonna be boring but I always eat what DH can't/won't eat. Usually that means pizza or something super spicy. Or a buttload of sushi because its delicious.

LemonRoses · 05/08/2021 21:20

Baked beans on toast.

DisgruntledPelican · 05/08/2021 21:22

Cheese and bread/biscuits. At least three different cheeses and some nice sourdough or oatcakes/crackers. Fig chutney and chilli jam.

I love cereal, toast, bacon sandwich etc for days like this. So nice to have a night off cooking!

Ivy48 · 05/08/2021 21:23

Order a takeaway, have a chilled evening. And order a takeaway you usually can’t get with him or you’re gave. Treat yourself

Quietcrown · 05/08/2021 21:23

I'd take advantage and get a takeaway, one my DP isn't keen on.

NothingIsWrong · 05/08/2021 21:25

Macaroni cheese with bacon and mushrooms :-)

StevieNix · 05/08/2021 21:26

So it’s far from gourmet but,
A big bag of chilli heatwave Doritos
A packet of Parma ham/prosciutto
And if I was still hungry a tuna salad sandwich on nice brown bread

LocalHobo · 05/08/2021 21:27

Bacon sandwich and a massive bar of chocolate

LavendulaAngustifolia · 05/08/2021 21:27

Garlic mushrooms on toast. Dh hates mushrooms and it's an opportunity to have extra garlic without
offending with a smelly breath.

Cheeseballer · 05/08/2021 21:29

Dominos for one! They do a home alone deal Grin

AgnesNaismith · 05/08/2021 21:29

I always have prawns cooked in butter, chilli, garlic and white wine with lots of lemon and parsley on top and plenty of crusty bread. It is quick, tasty and feels like a treat.

milcal · 05/08/2021 21:29

I honestly can't remember the last time I had a night to myself 😫

Probably a pizza from the supermarket or Chinese takeaway.

PieceOfString · 05/08/2021 21:30

If I had a decent chinese take away near me I'd have that. I cook almost every night but rarely chinese food so it'd be a nice change.

MyGirlDaisy · 05/08/2021 21:31

I’m with @LemonRoses, Beans on toast

Usernameisgone · 05/08/2021 21:32

Take away an a bottle of wine

Mercedes519 · 05/08/2021 21:32

I make my own nachos by putting wraps under the grill cut into triangles. Smother with cheese. And then one of those tex-mex dips dolloped on top.

Not a dish you would eat with someone else as it’s not a spectator sport….but not one I would share anyway!

Pinkchocolate · 05/08/2021 21:32

A ready meal lasagne. I always cook fresh so I would want something I can chuck in the oven and do nothing.

actiongirl1978 · 05/08/2021 21:33

Toast. I hate cooking every night and dread the decision making.

I also don't care about eating in the evening so toast or maybe cereal is my dream dinner.

GintyMcGinty · 05/08/2021 21:33

Donner kebab and a portion of chippy chips.

DH seriously loathes kebabs so I only eat them if I am on my own.

Mochatatts · 05/08/2021 21:34

When home alone, I usually have something the OH won't eat. Usually veggie although my current fave is sausage and pasta with tomatoes and basil sauce, loads of grated cheese. Sometimes olives or broccoli. I have a tendency to just make stuff up. Veggies in a fritta/omelettey things also another favourite.

@milcal neither can I, I am ridiculously excited!

I’d have a Chinese takeaway.
