What would you eat for dinner if you had a rare night home alone?

DH is out tomorrow which is a rarity and I'm really looking forward to having a night in to myself, chilling out and watching what I want on TV. I'll need dinner and can't decide what to have. Takeaway is an option, cooking is an option but nothing too time consuming as I'll have beem t work all day.

What would you make? Please inspire me!

Smoked salmon and philadelphia added to pasta and broccoli. So simple so tasty.

I go all out with veg - as many as I can think of stir fried or roasted. With spice. And a fried egg or chorizo or fish. I feel odd writing that down Grin

If money’s no issue I’d buy a big fillet steak, new potatoes, peppercorn sauce and green beans. Or, I’d send out for an Indian meal including chicken tikka and a huge naan bread. I’d sit on the sofa to eat it and watch all the stuff on the TV that my partner doesn’t like. (Actually, now I’m writing it down I think the Indian meal wins; it’s less effort.) I’m excited for you; enjoy your night!!!!

A sofa picnic / cheese board with extras.

Some French bread, 2 or 3 different cheeses, some nice ham, variety of chutnies and chilli jam, salad, Chicken liver pate from Cook.

And a lovely bottle of wine.

thenightsky · 05/08/2021 22:13

M&S ready meal, probably butter chicken. Or a Dr Oetker pizza. Lots of vodka and lemonade. Probably Haagen Daaz salted caramel ice cream

Ninkanink · 05/08/2021 22:14

A half crispy duck with pancakes, all to myself!! Along with a couple of glasses of wine.

lannistunut · 05/08/2021 22:15

Crisps and fruit probably

Knackeredmommy · 05/08/2021 22:15

My kids are at their dad's this week. I had a lamb shish kebab yesterday, hadn't had one in years and it was glorious! Have whatever you fancy. Cheese, Toast, crisps, takeaway or all of them, enjoy!

MusicTeacherSussex · 05/08/2021 22:19

a big tray of fresh sushi

Garlic prawns and flatbread

Strong Cheese and trio of olive bread

Anything indulgent really. And a nice bottle of cold white wine

FizzyPink · 05/08/2021 22:20

DP has a peanut allergy so I always order Thai when he’s not here. He also hates the smell of the Sensations lime and coriander popadoms so I’d get a big bag of those.

Sadly, being on my pre holiday diet means that when he was out last night I had a chicken salad which wasn’t nearly as fun.

Camassia · 05/08/2021 22:20

Rib eye steak and mushroom sandwich on buttered crusty bread, red wine and a bar of nutty chocolate.

Smoked salmon and philadelphia added to pasta and broccoli. So simple so tasty.
This sounds so delicious, and easy - will cook it this weekend!

Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Or scampi and salad.

H1Drangea · 05/08/2021 22:23

A night on my own ( dreams … )
Cheese and biscuits , grapes , nice chutney and a bottle of wine
Maybe a magnum after all the cheese

sproutsandparsnips · 05/08/2021 22:23

Chip shop chips and curry sauce, pickled onions and rose cava.

LazyDoll · 05/08/2021 22:25

I would totally hit the M&S garage and load up on goodies…enjoy your evening!!

AfterSchoolWorry · 05/08/2021 22:25

Indian. Veg samosas, poppadoms, trio of dips, rice, aloo spinach one. Yum!

HellooooJackie · 05/08/2021 22:27

I'd buy a rotisserie chicken, and put some of the still warm meat into a sandwich with fresh, thick cut, good quality white bread and mayo. Mmmmm...

Longdistance · 05/08/2021 22:27

Sausage, mash and gravy. Dh hates mash. Love sushi too.

CMSdividend · 05/08/2021 22:28

In with @LadyCluck , especially if the bread is slightly warm too.

Or I'd go for my desert island 🏝 meal which would involve different takeaways and shops:
Prawn cocktail from the local kebab house
Tea smoked chicken and vermicelli noodles from the Thai restaurant
Lemon meringue from my aunt Lorraine (I suspect it was M&S every time though)
Chocolate orange as a finisher
Washed down with a baileys 😋

Jody21 · 05/08/2021 22:30

I'm far too lazy to go to any effort cooking if I'm home alone which is usually at least once a week. I either make a ham and cheese toastie or a crisp sandwich with a big mug of tea and double decker or wispa for dessert. No faffing about cooking or waiting on delivery, hard to beat something ready in minutes, all set for a night in front of the tv!

feelingfree17 · 05/08/2021 22:31

Get a takeaway delivered.

idontlikealdi · 05/08/2021 22:32

Steak sandwich, or a platter of things - cured meat/ deli bits / cheese etc

Beamur · 05/08/2021 22:33

Crisps and wine Grin

Lolatt · 05/08/2021 22:33

A tapas meal to pick from while engrossed in a good drama and wine 🍷

Followed by a few Kir Royals.
