Silkiecat has some top tips for a holiday in the rain.

  1. Lie on a shelf, any shelf will do but the higher the better.
  2. Glare at anyone that suggests a walk or moving.
  3. Get others to bring you all the food you desire to your shelf and spend your day eating and sleeping.

Hopefully the weather will improve for you soon.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/08/2021 14:31

Silkie as I am off work next week and it looks like 'drawing in' I will aim at following this advice.
I am fairly sure I can do the glare. And I'll probably find a shelf. The food will be a problem I have to work on.

Silkiecats · 07/08/2021 16:03

Grin Prok Silkiecat says staff can be slow but I recommend howling from your shelf in an annoying way as possible to get staff to bring food. Middle aged male staff are much easier to train than teenagers.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/08/2021 16:29

Sikie DH is fairly middle aged and does the cooking in this household - but insists on sitting at tables (awake!).

HildaTablet · 07/08/2021 16:31

We've had rain, sun, rain, sun, rain. It's now sunny again.

When it rains I've watched the Olympics and when it's sunny I've been outside cutting up the vast pile of foliage I hacked down in the garden yesterday. There's a particularly overgrown corner (everything's overgrown but this bit's really jungly) which I've vowed to try and get down to size. But all the offcuts have to be chopped up small (ish) to go into the green garden bins.

We have two full-size ones and I've almost filled both of them just from this one hacking session Shock

At this rate I estimate it'll take about a year to get everything in shape.

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 07/08/2021 16:34

we're having Chinese tonight and I'm soooo happy

Gingerwarthog · 07/08/2021 16:50

My friend has made macaroons and they are delicious. We also took her small, wilful but charming dog out for a walk in the rain. She has been clearing out her wardrobe and gifted me a gorgeous green and white striped Toast skirt that she no longer wants.
Bought DD bluebell perfume and she was delighted.
All happy here.

MissConductUS · 07/08/2021 16:57

Welcome, @SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge, and thanks for your gastronomic news. We're having burgers on the grill because that's what we have on Saturdays. DH and Ds will also make a big casserole dish of mac & cheese.

@DiscoStusMoonboots, I hope your wedding today was lovely! Flowers

I went to both the warehouse club and supermarket. The supermarket was out of fresh cherries but did have apple cider donuts with cinamon sugar, so that evened things out.

DS went trampolining and DH got the bookcase from IKEA.

Silkiecats · 07/08/2021 18:54

Silkiecat is still on her shelf, we will shortly be entering her for the Guinness Book of Records longest time spent on a shelf by a cat record.

AnnieAreYouOkHun · 07/08/2021 19:10

I've revised all day, then I ironed my uniform and made my lunch for tomorrow. I'm overwhelmed by the excitement of it all.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/08/2021 19:24

Annie try some breathing exercises to help you calm down again. Grin Ironing is so unpredictable.

I have persuaded my tablet to scan my certificates and I have persuaded the app to add the QRs for proof of vacc. Which was more stressful than it ought to have been.

Squirrel26 · 07/08/2021 19:25

Ooh, bluebell is a lovely scent.

I’ve ordered some cleaning fluid for the carpet cleaner, and cleaned the bathroom. So, you know, all go here.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/08/2021 20:31

It started to rain - I'll go and find a shelf.

Silkiecats · 07/08/2021 22:29

Good idea Prok Silkiecat is loving her shelf as anytime anyone goes up or down the stairs they need to give Silkiecat a cuddle to pass.

HelenaJustina · 07/08/2021 22:57

We have miraculously stayed dry today. Turns out Northern land has some stunning bits, very much looking forward to exploring more. It’s been an exhausting couple of days as we left home at 8am Friday morning and got to the holiday house (lovely Ground floor apartment in converted double fronted Victorian house) at 6pm this evening.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/08/2021 07:55

I'm rather jealous of your dryness helena, we have moved approx 6 miles before we had to concede defeat and hunker down for the night due to the rain.

I'm having a great time and DDogs appear to be too. DS is holding up reasonably well but DH "has a cold" of course he does and is moping about the lack of space and the weather (neither of which I can do much about at this stage

Deathraystare · 08/08/2021 08:43

@Silkiecats

Give a virtual cuddle to Silkie cat from me!

Going to break the rules of the post I guess but exciting news for Deathraystare - I got a letter from the tax people - said I was entitled to a rebate- was half wondering if it was a scam as it said to contact them with your bank details if you wanted it quicker. Hmmm. Lost letter anyway and forgot about it but found a letter yesterday in the foyer of our flats. Inside was a cheque, for me!!!!!

Might go mad and join a dentists! Not as if I have many teeth left anyway!

PhloxOfSheep · 08/08/2021 09:02

Miss Apple cider doughnuts with cinnamon sugar sound just wonderful. I want one.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/08/2021 09:20

DH has decided to machine cut his hair, which is fine. Only the battery no longer loads so he has to squat down next to the outlet because the cable is short. I suggested a new machine and talked about fire hazards etc. But no - it still works so don't waste money.

@MissConductUS - those doughnuts sound lovely and please start a new thread Smile

Silkiecats · 08/08/2021 09:41

Silkiecat says brrrrrrrrrrruup Deathraystare that is her superhappy cuddle noise, DS just walked past and must of cuddled her as she made the sound really loudly and DS was very proud.

Church bells are ringing here, Silkiecat is still on her shelf, and the weather looks a bit meh.

MissConductUS · 08/08/2021 10:39

The new thread is up:

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 17: Calmly through the day

Why does this always happen in the wee hours of the morning for me? Smile

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/08/2021 11:08

Oh great thank you!

I am in "school starts tomorrow" mode, DS has to show proof of vacciantion to get out of testing 3 times a week and I hope he pulls himself together in this last year.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/08/2021 11:15

Grin You've got daytime at unusual hours ...
