Champagne; are you taking the DDogs on the boat with you? We've been on the Norfolk Broads a couple of times, but our dogs would have ended up in the water if we'd taken them!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/08/2021 19:49

champagne what kind of boat shall I imagine? House boat or the type in 'Three man in a boat'ß Smile

Squirrel26 · 02/08/2021 20:56

I'm looking for a DVD (I know. Old school.) I'm not 100% sure I actually own it, or that it wasn't chewed on by the dog in his 'destructive teenage' phase. But I want to watch it, and it's not available on any of my streaming options without paying.

DiscoStusMoonboots · 02/08/2021 21:53

I've managed to break in my wedding shoes in time for The Big Day on Saturday.

Champagneforeveryone · 02/08/2021 22:11

Will keep you posted helena! We've always wanted to do one as well but it's always been expensive compared to a week abroad

I've had friends do one with several kids and they basically leave them to cycle along the towpath or canoe / paddle board alongside, though I guess that's reliant on the age of your kids. DS(17) has been bribed by the promise of driving partway there and as many dinners in pubs as we can manage Wink

sueelleker, yes DDogs are indeed coming along. DDog1 may be a bit of a sod for the water but he's a good swimmer so no concerns there. They will be locked below at the locks though so they don't get accidentally minced.

prok it's nearly 60ft long and what we would call a narrow boat or canal boat. It has all mod cons on board (to a point) A house boat in the UK is usually permanently moored and is more of a floating house than a boat.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/08/2021 22:36

@Champagneforeveryone - I googled - that is lovely. I think I would enjoy this - especially in the rain! I hope you have a lot of fun.

MissConductUS · 02/08/2021 22:57

Welcome, @DiscoStusMoonboots, and thanks for sharing your nuptial news! Well done for getting your shoes in shape for the big day. Do share about your plans if you care to.

Congratulations! Flowers

Champagne!
The narrow boat holiday sounds idyllic.
Watched something with Rick Stein years ago where he was on canals with his dog Charlie and it looked like an all round delight.
In less exciting news - bought cheapo Lavender shower gel and it smells amazing.
Brushed cat.

Squirrel26 · 03/08/2021 10:01

Love lavender. I have several lavender plants in the garden.

Coffee. I’m trying to cut down the amount of sugar I’m putting in. So far gone down to 1 spoon from 2.

Never found that DVD. Beginning to think I don’t actually own it.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/08/2021 10:09

Lavender is one of my favourite scents, as at heart I am an elderly lady in a younger woman's body Wink

Squirrel26 · 03/08/2021 11:13

Me too. Grin It also reminds me of my grandma, who used to make lavender bags. —So do I, because as already established I am mentally 94 years old.—

Squirrel26 · 03/08/2021 11:14

Aaargh! Thread strike-through fail curse! Grin

Echobelly · 03/08/2021 11:14

I have the house to myself for first time in ages - well, for about another hour until cleaner comes! DH is dropping back some hardware from his last contract in town, DS at day camp, DD at residential camp.

PhloxOfSheep · 03/08/2021 12:13

I have been fasting since yesterday evening for a glucose test this morning. I'm now waiting for the oven to heat up to bake my baguette for a ploughman's lunch. I also slept very poorly, so I am hungry, tired, and impatient.

Gingerwarthog · 03/08/2021 13:16

Also a fan of lily of the valley...
Have house to myself - Wartycat has stalked off, having turned up his nose at new catnip mouse. He cannot be bought.
Am supposed to be doing industrial quantities of ironing - in reality am drinking tea and reading John Grisham.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/08/2021 13:25

phlox, I feel murderous on your behalf Angry

I am sat in my car while a vast number of young Polish men swarm around the outside to valet it. The head man gave me a stern look and told me the state of my boot is not covered by my choice of valet so I've had to upgrade a level

Sunbird24 · 03/08/2021 16:49

Sorry I’ve been a little absent, but I’ve enjoyed catching up on all your lovely relaxing ‘doings’!
I’m 7 weeks tomorrow, and I’ve got an appointment to see the Dr as I keep getting pins & needles in my hands, and occasionally feet. Want them to make sure I’m not anaemia or deficient in B12 which seem to be the two main causes at this stage.
In other news, I’m soon to receive a second recycling bin just for paper/card, with a purple lid!

MissConductUS · 03/08/2021 18:08

Welcome, @Echobelly (or welcome back if you were on a prior thread), and thanks for sharing your calming news of solitude.

Champagne, what's wrong with your boot? When you say they were waiting to valet it, do you mean park it or clean it?

Sunbird, no apology needed! It's lovely to hear from you. Let us know what you doctor says about the tingling.

I’ve still got the bathrooms to clean. Put borrowed a friend’s eldest DC and took all 5 for a long walk. The NT property we had intended to walk/eat cake at was closed so we had to strike off on footpaths. I successfully navigated a circular route and not one of the DC was impressed.

@DiscoStusMoonboots, congratulations on the breaking in of the shoes and the upcom8ng nuptials!
Nydj · 03/08/2021 19:47

Went out for lunch today at a place that is run by a former masterchef contestant - I hope that’s not too exciting for this thread.

On the subject of lavender, I bought two lavender plants for my garden this year.

MissConductUS · 03/08/2021 20:35

I think that @DiscoStusMoonboots is far too busy with the last-minute craziness before her wedding to be engaging us here.

So Nydj, how was the lunch? Did it live up to your masterchef expectations?

Children are never impressed by anything adults do. It's just expected that we are all powerful.

DS has an online photography class at 6:00 so we're having an early dinner. The male pizza making team is back in action tonight.

Lunch was lovely thanks, @MissConductUS. Tomorrow, I am ramping up the excitement even more with a yoga class in person!
