Welcome back Hilda

Silkiecat is now back asleep on the shelf at the top of the stairs that she fell off last night. There is a drop next to it though at least there is her single bed below that if she rolls off again.

It's the Kallax I have ordered for DH, largely as it fits and as the wicker baskets you can get for it look like the thatched roof plus I can see Silkiecat very happily sitting in one of the boxes. We used to have a narrow bookcase at old house, I got it cheaply off ebay and was very happy it was exactly the size of the gap.

I have also been watching lots of Olympics, last night the synchronised swimming, that is a very bizarre sport. My favourite is women's Gymnastics, also like the diving.

Silkiecats · 06/08/2021 16:09

Have lovely holidays Champagne and Helena I am just staring thinking what to pack, if forecast doesn't improve, last bits will probably be raincoats and wetsuits etc. At least both mine love rain.

MissConductUS · 06/08/2021 16:14

DH is taking a day of annual leave. He and DS are going blueberry picking shortly. So I guess I'm baking more blueberry bread this weekend.

Hilda, he probably needs to be on the AB's for a few days before they can remove the root canal, but he shouldn't put it off just because he feels better.

Prok, how is your daughter doing?

So much going on for a dull and unexciting thread! Have a lovely holiday @HelenaJustina and @Champagneforeveryone.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus, I do hope your DD is better soon.

I having been feeling a bit odd this week - slept funny so neck ache since Monday, then banged my forehead into the corner of an open kitchen unit door and have had headache and feeling tired and just ‘off’ these last few days. Did a lateral flow test just in case and thankfully, it was negative. I guess it’s just a case of waiting it out until I feel normal again but am bored of not feeling 100% now.

Silkiecats · 06/08/2021 17:22

Hope you are feeling better soon Nydj

Dh has just said to Silkieshelfcat you have forgotten to eat all day Silkieshelfcat, shall your Papa carry you to your food and dh has carried her and she is eating again.

Silkiecats · 06/08/2021 18:30

Major crisis here. It's fishy Friday and DH went to our village Chinese to get cod and chips only to discover they have decided to stop selling cod. Easter Shock

This led to DH and I having an hour's crisis planning meeting to decide what action to take. DD pointed out we could solve this easily by just switching to scampi but is clearly too young and veggie so cannot understand the full implications. After much debate DH has gone to a fish and chip shop in the nearest town rated 4.8 on Tripadviser but I am concerned as some reviews look fake and the fish pictures don't look great. But my plans to switch to Chinese or Thai were too much for DH and I couldn't be certain another fish and chip place would be better.

Please keep us in your Friday thoughts whilst we await the fish and chips. Grin

Silkiecats · 06/08/2021 18:51

DH has just messaged me to say the fish and chip shop is in 'the posh part of the town' and there is a big queue of people so he is certain it will be good.

MissConductUS · 06/08/2021 19:16

Silkie, I can strongly recommend this fish and chips shop if you are ever in the area:

brothersfishandchips.com/

It's going to be crazy at work next week. We have a lot of meetings and I'm actually going to have to go to two groups dinners and pretend that I'm enjoying myself.

Thank you Silkie and thoughts and prayers for your fish and chips dilemma

Nydj · 06/08/2021 19:29

Oh my that sounds awful Miss but just think, it will all be over this time next week

Silkiecats · 06/08/2021 19:55

Thanks Nydj Your thoughts and prayers worked, they were amazing fish and chips, really fresh ginormous fish like the type you get at the seaside - one large fish covered two big plates. Silkiecat is now enjoying hers. The only issue I have is I was supposed to be eating less atm though I only had some yoghurt and 3 biscuits before it all day.

I would love to be able to visit your fish and chip shop MissC but think it will be some time yet. Though maybe a fish and chip shop visit counts as an essential reason to travel. Grin Good luck getting through the busy week and dinners. I used to love the dinners in my 20s and 30s and dressing up but now I'm like what time can I go to bed.

Collecting the bookcase tomorrow from IKEA and taking DS trampolining with another boy with ASD from the village, they haven't met so not sure how the car journey will go. DS will probably ignore him.

Squirrel26 · 06/08/2021 20:42

I need to buy some light bulbs. I hate buying light bulbs, they are so boring and expensive and fiddly to make sure you have the right ones. It represents all that's bad about having to function as an adult.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/08/2021 20:49

Thank you to all for asking about DD!!!
She will be thourougly checked through next week - but in the meantime we think she passed a stone this morning (according to the pain she described and the sudden lessening of the pain). Which is good. BUT ... she admitted that this had happened before (ADD messes with you pain receptors) and she told nobody and just got on with it. Aaaargh!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/08/2021 20:56

On a clamer note - fish and chips can be really lovely. Here it is a British speciality you have to invest serious money in.

I am now going to read up on what I have missed.

Sunbird24 · 06/08/2021 21:03

My parents are at my house this weekend (I’m at work but they have an event to go to which is much nearer mine than theirs) My neighbour has brought round a parcel that was dropped at theirs even though it’s got my address on, and they’d accidentally opened it. Weird thing is it’s not my name on the parcel, it’s a different one but it is my address.

Silkiecats · 06/08/2021 21:18

Fish and chips are cheap here - the large fish and chips we had was about £9 here but could feed 3 of us as it was so big though DH said he ate the cat's part Shock.

HildaTablet · 06/08/2021 23:21

I want some fish and chips now. In my home town there's a chippy where the uninitiated innocently order one portion of chips per person, then realise when handed a gigantic bag that they'll be eating them at every meal for the next week.

It's the establishment everyone with any sense frequents. There are about three other chippies available but their portions are normal too stingy Grin

Silkiecats · 07/08/2021 05:38

Just watching more Olympics, currently rhythmic gymnastics.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/08/2021 07:22

I have taken a week off work to transition DS back into school and help DD with her health issues - and possibly do some fun things for myself. I hope the weather holds.

Silkiecats · 07/08/2021 07:48

Hope you have good weather and can go out in your week off Prok

We have thunder and rain for today then rain tomorrow and the day after. Then a week of sun and low 20s before the rain comes back.

I've been sorting out school things too though schools aren't back here until around 6th September.

Silkiecats · 07/08/2021 08:19

Silkiecat managed to spend the whole night asleep on the shelf above the stairs without falling off.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/08/2021 08:35

Silkie Did she persuade someone to broaden the shelf? Cats can be very good at this.

We have thunderstorms and temperatures in the lower 20tes, too.

Silkiecats · 07/08/2021 09:01

No but she did persuade DH to bring her food to the shelf. Though this morning Dh said Silkiecat you need a bit of exercise to walk to the kitchen and get your food and she gave him a withering look. He then walked to the kitchen and brought her food to the shelf again.

Champagneforeveryone · 07/08/2021 10:52

We are on holiday and it is raining.

Heavily.

DDog2 has developed a pathetic, rasping cough when confronted with the prospect of yet another walk in the rain Grin

MissConductUS · 07/08/2021 11:16

Champagne, of course it's raining. You're on holiday.

I've had a bit of a lie in (for me). I'm about to exercise and am working on my shopping strategy for the day. An early run to the warehouse club, before it becomes bedlam? We shall see. We're back in the hot weather, so that's a factor too.

I'm aware that we are approaching the end of the thread, so fear not LPOTT.

And happy Caturday. Smile
