I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

The pictures you get of around the world when you turn on your computer are beginning to depress DH and I as we can't travel other than UK. Now I've going to watch Beach Around the World to see more places I am not allowed to go to.

mathanxiety · 30/06/2021 04:56

After tonight's attempt to make a light summer evening meal the three of us here could enjoy, I have come to the conclusion that I need to create a spreadsheet featuring food items the two DDs will not eat under any circumstances. Who knew a simple warm orzo and spinach (and red onion, kalamata olive, and feta cheese) salad could be such an appalling suggestion? I ended up eating it myself while the ladies warmed up some freezer chhole and Whole Foods chicken samosas for themselves. The oven had to be lit at 400 for the samosas but the chhole went in the microwave. The whole point of the orzo salad was a meal that could be made very quickly, thus avoiding heating up the kitchen...

Best wishes Sunbird Flowers

Silkiecats · 30/06/2021 05:38

If I had a list of foods my two won't eat I would break Excel though DD is a bit better now vegetarian rather than vegan and DS is asd and very repetitive and selective.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/06/2021 05:57

Woke up to rain and thunder.

What are my socks called in English? Google does not help.

Silkiecats · 30/06/2021 06:09

I call them trampolining socks as we always get them at trampoline parks, not sure what official name is maybe non-slip socks.

HelenaJustina · 30/06/2021 06:11

I think they would be sold as ‘slipper socks’, thick warm things with grippy bits on the bottom. Sold to be worn instead of slippers.

Silkiecats · 30/06/2021 06:18

I looked on a trampoline Park website and they called them grip socks.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/06/2021 06:29

grip socks and slipper socks - ok, added to my voc. list.
And I found a pair at the bottom of DD's sock drawer.

The rain stopped, I will now go to work.

Sunbird24 · 30/06/2021 07:51

I do have these socks, which are a bit fluffy (but have no grip) but I don’t know if they will bring me a baby bear…

Silkiecats · 30/06/2021 07:54

Those socks will get you 2 baby bears and this will be you taking them for a dip in someone else's swimming pool.

😂
They are transferring two embryos…

sueelleker · 30/06/2021 08:16

@Champagneforeveryone ; that's the trouble with holidaying in the UK, you have to take clothes for every possible weather. At least when you go abroad you usually have a good idea of what to expect.

Champagneforeveryone · 30/06/2021 11:00

Good luck sunbird, I've everything crossed for you Flowers

That's the thing sue, this is a canal boat holiday in Wales so we really do need to pack for all weathers! Plus we don't have ready access to shops, need to take all our own bedding and towels for us (due to Covid) and DDogs, camping chairs, wellies etc. Oh, and an acoustic guitar obviously

Frownette · 30/06/2021 11:28

Prok no I'm not sure how we got onto the topic of stripper socks

I'm pretty sure strippers are supposed to wear stockings instead? I do not have expertise in this area

Frownette · 30/06/2021 11:32

Anyone would get a terrible fright if I insisted on stripping in front of them nowadays Grin

I would have got off one left sock and then then they'd start screaming NO NO MAKE IT STOP

MissConductUS · 30/06/2021 14:24

MissConduct also sounds like a strippers name

Good point, but I don't have it printed on my ID card for work or see it every day when the post arrives.

Frownette, given the amount of flirtation and compliments you've been receiving from men recently, I find this a bit hard to believe. Smile

Champagne, I'm so glad you found us. We do sometimes lose someone in the transition from thread to thread. Your five-week holiday sounds fabulous.

@Frownette I haven’t tried it, but I can’t imagine there’s any way of removing socks that’s even slightly alluring…

Squirrel26 · 30/06/2021 15:04

We used to have an actual list of foods that I DID eat stuck on the fridge. One of my friends wrote it (I can’t remember why. There was no Internet in those days, we had to make our own fun).

It was quicker than writing a list of the foods I didn’t eat.

mathanxiety · 30/06/2021 17:20

Squirrel, I think that's the list I need. It's back-to-school-supplies season here in the shops so I'll buy a small dry erase board for the fridge.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/06/2021 18:38

The physio therapist was off sick to day, so I did not use DD's trampoline socks (they are white and fluffy).
The rain this morning stopped until I reached the point were I had to cross a square to get to the underground - it continued to rain and strom until 4 pm when I wanted to go home. It stopped until I reached the point were I had to cross an open area.
There is a theme to this.

Champagneforeveryone · 30/06/2021 19:42

ChampagneCat has lost her collar. As she's DH's favourite child this is a special collar with a tag from Etsy no less Hmm

Good job it's payday eh?! Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/06/2021 19:47

Oh so it is.... - payday I mean.
I am amazed your DCat keeps a collar on

MissConductUS · 30/06/2021 20:04

Payday for me is next Thursday, the same day my surgery is scheduled.

I don't think either of our cats would tolerate a collar.

They told me to get them used to it when they were still young. Neither Felix nor Sev agreed. I kept my fingers, but I had to bribe them with cooked chicken to forgive me.

MissConductUS · 30/06/2021 20:11

I just checked the weather station at home. It's 103 F on my deck (about 40 C). It's a good thing I watered the plants this morning.

DS mowed the lawn this morning, but it was cooler then.
