The OW is miserable with him

Split with ex about 6 years ago. I found out he had cheated for the 2nd time (2nd time that I knew about, there could have been more). The end of my relationship and his new relationship overlapped by 3 months. He is still with the OW.

3 months later I met my lovely DP, kind of recycled as we went out with each other at school. We are still together.

Friend met OW through a hobby. Friend assumed OW knew who she was but was just keeping quiet for the sake of peace in the group. However, it appears that OW hasn't clicked that her new hobby friend is a long standing friend of mine. OW has been confiding in friend - her partner / my ex cheats. He also compares her unfavourably to me all the time. Her appearance, career, cooking (and I'm a shit cook), everything. He also tells her that he could get back with me if he wanted to 😂😂😂. No chance of that, he's a dick.

Normally I'd feel sorry for a woman in this situation. But I see her as equally responsible as him for what happened - my life was suddenly turned upside down, I had to move house, was suddenly single, went on a holiday booked for me and ex by myself. It worked out well for me in the end but initially it was turmoil. I feel her actions caused her own misery.

Just wanted to vent 😃.

Honestly, if there are ever threads on here from the OW she is resoundingly roasted. But OP can’t feel good that the OW is having a shit time? Ridiculous. Feel good OP, you’ve seen first hand that these men never change and the OW who has wrecked a relationship has made her bed. Good on you! I’d open a bottle of bubbly stat!!

BadgerHair · 28/05/2021 19:20

@Potteringshed

I wouldn't trust the friend who is feeding all this back to you. If she's willing to be utterly dishonest/a fake friend to the OW, she clearly capable of betraying your trust too. It's actu a pretty shit thing to do - listen to someone talking about their very painful situation and then go and laugh behind their back about it.
Friend has been friends with DP and I since school. She says OW has just latched on to her. They're in a women's hiking group and go out on group walks together. OW is always moaning to the group (not just my friend) about how bad her DP is.

They say that the best form of revenge is to be happy. A bottle of bubbly for DP and I is a good idea. To celebrate what we have.

You reap what you sow.

This woman certainly has.

1FootInTheRave · 28/05/2021 19:25

I'd be pleased too tbh.

He was a booby prize and you're well rid.

Morgan12 · 28/05/2021 19:27

Definitely the best revenge but it sure is satisfying when people get their karma. I hope you and your DP both have a lovely night.

GlitterBombing · 28/05/2021 19:27

But the someone talking about their very painful situation is someone who created a very painful situation for an old friend. The OW is hardly the epitome of kindness is she? Given what she did. She deserves to be being laughed about behind her back.

TheMotherlode · 28/05/2021 19:28

I’d be feeling the same as you OP. You reap what you sow. If you get together with someone who is already in a long term relationship you have to know deep down that they will cheat on you too.

lceniWarrior · 28/05/2021 19:30

Her being cheated on, yeh I guess I can see why you would feel slightly satisfied but I just think this bit is actually something I wouldn't be happy about another women experiencing 'He also compares her unfavourably to me all the time. Her appearance, career, cooking (and I'm a shit cook), everything'

Well it’s one or the other. Either she’s “latched on” to your friend or she’s disclosing highly personal tales of abusive behaviour from her partner to the entire group.

In the OP you said the OW had been “confiding in” your friend (about the abusive behaviour), who had chosen to “keep quiet” about the fact she was your friend.

Fair enough to take some satisfaction that the affair didn’t lead to happy ever after, but a controlling relationship is something else.

Meh, enjoy this moment OP.. sometimes people get out what they put in.

dworky · 28/05/2021 19:32

How is she equally reponsible when she had no relationship with or responsibility to you?

osbertthesyrianhamster · 28/05/2021 19:33

@OrchidLass

I don't think anyone deserves this from anyone. Nice for her when she finds out her new friend is reporting back to you.

Clearly she was out of order if she knew your ex was married, no question about that, but I wouldn't wish someone a miserable life.

Oh, personally, I've met some who deserved that and worse.

LOL @ the virtue signalling.

Get that fizz chilling, OP!

RickiTarr · 28/05/2021 19:33

Sometimes nasty men deliberately pick vulnerable women to prey on or have affairs with.

MerryChristmasToYou · 28/05/2021 19:34

A bottle of bubbly for DP and me not DP and I.

impressivelycunty · 28/05/2021 19:34

Exactly. What dworky said.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 28/05/2021 19:34

Poor woman - but schadenfreude for you OP!

BadgerHair · 28/05/2021 19:35

Sorry grammar police 🤣.

No judgement here @BadgerHair
There is a certain muted pleasure in watching someone get their just desserts with no action at all on your part. Totally different situation but an ex employer made my life hell. He recently went to jail for a long time (unrelated to any work bastardry). I was very quietly thankful to the universe that even if I hadn’t got justice, he had got his comeuppance.

lceniWarrior · 28/05/2021 19:35

You reap what you sow. sounds like 'she had it coming'.

MustardRose · 28/05/2021 19:36

@dworky

She was shagging the OP's husband, and presumably knew she was the OW. So yes, she was culpable.

You reap what you sow.
