I've been researching my family tree and there are a lot of surnames, mostly usual Irish, Scottish but some interesting ones and it got me thinking about surnames in general.

I always thought Italian surnames are very beautiful, Baccino, Santangelli.

I love ones that are simple such as Flower, Beach and Ocean too.

So, what's the most beautiful one you have ever heard?

I always think De Silva is a really pretty surname.

My first name is Nicola and I think it goes together really well. I’ve actually toyed with changing it from time to time.

Fembot123 · 04/04/2021 18:13

Non festive first names even

Talking with a neighbour about family. She had gone to the area where her mother’s family was from. My dear neighbour said that her grandmother had been a Squirrel! I love that, I wouldn’t mind being a Squirrel.

I knew a Mrs Innocent and also Hasty, Smart, Quick, and Careless. The latter took great pains to make sure that no-one could say, "Careless by name Careless by nature" as he was very diligent.

I found a Dr. McCatty in my family research. Makes me imagine a character in a Cats musical. Also found a little boy named Wee Wee Kelly Grin.
