A question about bath towels

ViolentFairy · 20/03/2021 18:37

We are a family of four. We have one bathroom. Two bath towels out usually as not really space for more on the towel rail. We all use the same bath towels, wash them each week.
Is this a bit rank? What do other people do? It just occurred to me that maybe now the kids are teens they might use a towel each but I wondered what others do.
Thanks

We each have our own bath sheet all very different and get washed fairly regularly as and when required.

MadeForThis · 20/03/2021 18:40

We use a towel each. Hang them on a hook on the back of the door.

But a towel dried your clean body so if they are washed regularly then it's still hygienic.

Although I don't know if I'd want to dry my face with a towel by DH had just dried his arse with.

So maybe I'm on the fence.

We had the same scenario until this year when we got a second bathroom.

So do all the towels go in the bathroom?

We all have our own bath towel but we hang them in the airing cupboard between uses then wash when needed.
I think it's nice to have your own towel.

UntamedWisteria · 20/03/2021 18:42

Yes it's a bit rank.

You should have one per person.

Can some of you keep your towels in your bedroom?

dementedpixie · 20/03/2021 18:42

We each have our own towel. We are lucky that we have an ensuite as well as the bathroom so the 2 kids have their towels in the bathroom and dh and I hang our towels in the ensuite

UntamedWisteria · 20/03/2021 18:43

Also doesn't that mean someone sometimes has to use a damp towel?

gretagreengrapes · 20/03/2021 18:43

We use our own towels and hang in the bathroom on the rail, hook on the backs of bathroom or bedroom doors or a free standing towel rail in the bedroom.

Everyone needs their own towel! But they don't have to be washed after every use.

notangelinajolie · 20/03/2021 18:44

New towel each time. I don't like the idea of using a towel someone else has used before me - you never know which bits its been used to dry Wink
We don't have the huge big bath sheets though - my dryer bills would be through the roof.

KingCatMeowInSpace · 20/03/2021 18:45

One towel per person and they hand on hooks on back of door and washed after a few days of usage

Flaunch · 20/03/2021 18:45

We do the same as you :)

WellTidy · 20/03/2021 18:46

How do you dry all those towels after use, if you have one each?

We are a family of four, and our heated towel rail can only dry three towels at a time. So we only ever have three out (I wash them twice a week).

QuitMoaning · 20/03/2021 18:46

We each have a different colour and they are washed probably three times a fortnight. They are always drying something clean but I still like a fresh clean towel to myself

GuyFawkesDay · 20/03/2021 18:47

We have own one here, hung on hooks after use.

Towel rail for hand towels for washing hands/faces. Those are changed every day or so, bath towels do a week each

RandomMess · 20/03/2021 18:49

We dry them hung over the landing/stairs wall thing.

Babymamaroon · 20/03/2021 18:51

I grew up sharing towels etc but as a grown up we now all have our own towels etc but are fortunate to have different bathrooms so room isn't an issue.

Different hooks per person and an extra towel rail if there's space would sort this for you.

LubaLuca · 20/03/2021 18:51

I wouldn't be happy sharing a towel that goes all over someone else's body. My in-laws are very weird and don't have a hand towel in their bathroom - you have to dry your hands on one of their bath towels. I can never help wondering if the corner I'm using is the bit FIL used earlier on his pubes, which makes me want to wash my hands again.

Purplecatshopaholic · 20/03/2021 18:51

A bath towel each. Dry them on hooks in bathroom/en suite. Sharing is a bit rank tbh.

Howshouldibehave · 20/03/2021 18:53

One bath towel per person-hung/dried in bedrooms on the radiator/back of the door. Washed weekly.

redcandlelight · 20/03/2021 18:54

we use hand towels.
they take a lot less space and dry quicker after use.
hooks on the door and each of us has their own hook.
towels go in the wash twice a week or so.

Sparklingbrook · 20/03/2021 18:55

We have the biggest bath sheets I could find. Hand towels get changed daily at the moment especially.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 20/03/2021 18:55

Definitely a towel each! DH and I have different colours so we don’t get them mixed up in the bathroom. We have two bathrooms though so a bit more space to hang them up. DD2 is a baby and has a hooded baby towel that gets washed after each use so doesn’t need to go on the heated towel rail.

2020isnotbehaving · 20/03/2021 18:58

Own towels. Two in bathroom then others on bedroom door or over banister until they are dry. You can get over door hooks that easily hold 4

Lolly34h · 20/03/2021 18:59

We are a use once and in the wash kind of family and we all have our own towels
