I was watching this just as dawn was breaking this morning. I saw Frodo Baggings crawl from right to left up the dark volcanic ash clutching something shiny in his hand.

I read an article about the earthquake swarms that preceded this eruption. It said Icelanders were looking forwards to a “tourist eruption” and would travel from all over the island to see it. So-called tourist eruption because the threat to life of being in the vicinity is limited and they draw a crowd. Thanks for link. It’s rather lovely and hypnotic.

It's amazing. We went last year and Iceland is spectacular but this would have been the icing on the cake.

I think they’re just there for a look. I suppose some of them will have a professional interest, or reporters. If I were in Iceland I’d go along for the experience.
