I fancy Chinese tonight and dp will have fish and chips.
Kids will only pick at chips and might push to a sausage, really trying to encourage them to broaden their horizons any ideas? What’s your kids chippy order?

@Nohomemadecandles there was only curry sauce!

I was desperate to try liqueur (the sauce)and I think I have spelt it wrong but i thought it would be there in place of gravy but sadly it wasn't and I still haven't tried it.

@GreenHairThingy

I needed to know what a King Rib is so I've Googled. For other clueless souls like me:

It's a sweetened patty of minced pork, deep fried.

Thanks! I was about to look this up myself.
MissConductUS · 19/03/2021 19:33

What an earth is this. What animal does it come from? Is it a rib made of kings or a rib fit for a king or a massive rib?

I had to google it (there are no chippies where I live). It's a fried, sweetened minced pork pattie. No rib involved apparently.

I've not had that either. Missed out

OhWhyNot · 19/03/2021 19:35

When I was younger I remember deep fried patties (I’m not sure they were beef) so maybe similar to a king rib

This was in London. I’ve not seen them for a long time or a king rib

OhWhyNot · 19/03/2021 19:36

And gravy was never sold

dementedpixie · 19/03/2021 19:37

There are pictures of King ribs further back in the thread. They are rectangles of seasoned pork dipped in batter and deep fried

DwangelaForever · 19/03/2021 19:44

Deep fried burgers patties are called "Steakettes" where I'm from

drspouse · 19/03/2021 19:44

One of them has a burger or a small fish, the other has the same or chicken nuggets.

GameSetMatch · 19/03/2021 19:46

Chip barm

We don’t ever really have a chippy but last time DS1 said somebody at school mentioned a chip barm and he said he would try one but he didn’t like the chips so just ate the bread 🙄 I really dislike fish and chips, will they have Chinese instead?

DwangelaForever · 19/03/2021 19:49

P.s all these mixed cuisine places are making me freak out lol 🙈 I'm from Belfast and our takeaways are quite straight laced. So Chineses only sell Chinese foods, chippy's don't sell pizza etc. Each cuisine tends to have its own shop here rather than anything mixed. I deffo think where I live has got a high number of takeaways. There's 8 Chineses on a 1.5mile stretch of road lol. 3 kebab places and 1 pizza place. (This doesn't include daytime cafes and sandwich shops etc lol)

MonsterKidz · 19/03/2021 19:49

Both of mine would chose either fish n chips, sausage, battered birder, pizza crunch, smoked sausage. We are in Scotland - lots of choices here!

GameSetMatch · 19/03/2021 19:49

Nobody has mentioned a steak pudding, most kids like that don’t they?

OhWhyNot · 19/03/2021 19:53

Ds wouldn’t like it

Strange child doesn’t like pies (apart from McDonald’s apple pie)

queenofthenorthwest · 19/03/2021 19:56

We have a chippy that sells Chinese, kebabs, pizza and salads.

Bananagram99 · 19/03/2021 19:58

I have three. One will eat anything at all, so would probably have fish and chips with me, one would have chips and a sausage. Youngest doesn't like chips and is veggie, so would eat a bread roll! If I could find a place that did veggie sausages he'd have that.

Forevercurious · 19/03/2021 20:04

From the chippy it’s fish cake or a sausage.

From the chinese it’s chow mein, rice, chicken balls, chips.

SavannahLands · 19/03/2021 20:17

Our local chippy sells all the Traditional Fish, Chips, Mushy peas type of foods, but it also sells McDonalds type Burgers, Wraps and Nuggets. They Also offer 3 different types of Kebabs, Donner, Tikka, and Mediterranean, all served with Pitta Bread, Salad, and a choice of Sauces.
Last year whilst on Holiday near Southampton, we came across a Chippy show claim to fame was to sell a wide range of Deep fried Battered Chocolate bars, including Cadburys Creme Eggs. Yukky unhealthy food in many ways!

delilahbucket · 19/03/2021 20:19

Kids fish bites, chips and curry sauce, every single time! Although he will get involved with deep fried whitebait and calamari if they are on the specials.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/03/2021 20:25

The Chinese takeaways here generally don't do chippy food, but they do sell chips, either normal ones or salt and pepper ones.

blowinahoolie · 19/03/2021 20:52

Kids' fish supper or kids' sausage supper.

frogswimming · 19/03/2021 21:07

Chips, fish or chicken nuggets and mushy peas.

LaLaLouella · 19/03/2021 21:17

I'm still intrigued as to what a Chip Butty Splash is????

LaLaLouella · 19/03/2021 21:18

And I like junk food as much as the next person but the thought of a Pizza Crunch makes me want to heave... why would you take a cheap horrible pizza and then make it worse?????

Thesearmsofmine · 19/03/2021 21:20

Battered fish, chips, scraps and curry sauce.
