What do your kids eat from the chippy?

I fancy Chinese tonight and dp will have fish and chips.
Kids will only pick at chips and might push to a sausage, really trying to encourage them to broaden their horizons any ideas? What’s your kids chippy order?

DD (vegetarian) has veg chow mein, onion rings, veg spring rolls

DS (asd) veg spring rolls, pork dumplings, spare ribs, sausage and chips, scampi and chips, plain rice, chicken noodle soup, prawn crackers, chicken curry, red curry, fish and chips, plain chow mein, banana fritters though not all at once. Grin

TheMostHappy · 19/03/2021 18:50

A mini fish for ds1 and a battered sausage for ds2

DinosApple · 19/03/2021 18:50

Sausage, scampi or cod for my DC.

One is practically vegetarian so I fry her an egg to go with her chips.

ShipOfTheseus · 19/03/2021 18:52

Only some chips. To be fair, chips are the only thing we get too.

2andahalfpints · 19/03/2021 18:53

Fish or pukka pie and chips & peas

Itstheprinciple · 19/03/2021 18:54

Sometimes we just get a portion of chips and DH fries some eggs.

LadyCatStark · 19/03/2021 18:59

DS and I will have a fish each, sure a chips and a large mushy peas. DH will have steak and kidney pudding and ransom and end of our fish for some of his curry sauce to dip our chips in 😂

From the Chinese, he’ll have chicken curry, fried rice and a full bag of prawn crackers.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/03/2021 18:59

@ChocOrange1
Our Chinese do munchy boxes, as do the kebab shops.

Sceptre86 · 19/03/2021 19:00

Ours are 4 and 3 they will eat fish, chips and mushy peas. They will now have a scallop where I am from or a fritter as it is called up in Scotland. They don't seem to like brown sauce at the moment to their dad's dismay. I love chip shop curry with my chips but find it hard to find anywhere up here that makes it fresh and not powdered! Our local chippy doesn't actually do mushy peas so I sometimes go a bit further to one that does. I also like a buttered bread with my chips but dh doesn't understand the concept of double carbs. I am definitely going to have chips for dinner tomorrow.

Someone up thread mentioned that suggesting fish and Chinese means Liverpool and op says she's from the northwest. I'm from Liverpool and if I'm visiting somewhere else I tend to eat something that I can't get at home so I'm confused. Do other places not have Chinese chippys?
I had a friend who moved to Newcastle and she always said she missed salt & pepper chips but I didn't realise we weren't the norm!Confused

Sceptre86 · 19/03/2021 19:01

At home in Manchester I would probably get a cheese and onion pie. I like to go all out.

partyatthepalace · 19/03/2021 19:03

Fish and chips - cut up.

SimonJT · 19/03/2021 19:04

Sweet potato fries and fried banana blossom (vegetarian fried fish alternative).

He doesn’t like white potato chips, weird child.

AlexandraPeppernose · 19/03/2021 19:07

Chicken and mushroom pukka pie. Every single time

queenofthenorthwest · 19/03/2021 19:07

@foreverchangingmyname

I used to live in Milton Keynes, they had chippys or Chinese's.

You couldn't get Chinese in a chippy. Or gravy.

This was 20 years ago but I clearly remember my friend texting me saying a scouser had opened a chippy by them that sold gravy and they were very happy.

It's probably changed now. I will have to ask them.

Pedallleur · 19/03/2021 19:14

Fish or a fish cake and chips. A buttered barn cake with which to make a fish/chip sandwich is a treat

doadeer · 19/03/2021 19:16

Deep fried pizza Shock

fruitpastille · 19/03/2021 19:17

I live in Yorkshire. If we go to the fish and chip shop, we have fish and chips Grin. 4 fish suppers between 5 of us. I can't be bothered waiting for any special kids meals or whatever.

fruitpastille · 19/03/2021 19:19

If we want Chinese, we go to the Chinese... not the chippy. If we want curry we go the Indian etc.

Nohomemadecandles · 19/03/2021 19:21

I'd say at least 50% of the chippies round here are Chinese chippies. Its not a choice! It's what they are. They have 2 menus
Nohomemadecandles · 19/03/2021 19:23

@queenofthenorthwest what did they moisten their pies and puddings with? No gravy...

doadeer · 19/03/2021 19:23

I grew up in NE and fish and chips was probably once every couple months as it was so cheap and easy but since I moved to London I never bother. For fish and chips for 2 (normal size) it's £24 at my local. For that money I'd much rather have a Franco Manca or something off deliveroo.

GintyMcGinty · 19/03/2021 19:24

Smoked sausage supper for both of them.

GintyMcGinty · 19/03/2021 19:27

From the Chinese they like bbq spare ribs, sweet & sour chicken balls, lemon chicken and chicken fried rice.

Chippie and Chinese are completely different shops here.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/03/2021 19:27

Everything and double chips, basically. And half a loaf of bread and butter. And then some cake and some cereal before bed. Teenage boys 🙄
