Was looking for something in 'your orders' and idly clicked the drop-down box to look at previous orders by year.

Confucius From The Heart.

I was thinking about Amazon the other day, is my memory failing me or did it only used to sell books? Is that what it started out as? Or has it always sold every single thing under the sun you could possibly want?

Dec 2005, a little Sony digital camera and a DVD of Peep Show.

Both Christmas presents for DH. How technology has moved on. We don't even have a DVD player any more.

CarlottaValdez · 16/03/2021 14:48

1999 Good omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and The vampire Armand by Anne Rice. I also ordered a book called the anatomist that year. Then only one thing in 2000 - a book about how to grow orchids.

FluffMagnet · 16/03/2021 14:49

An adult-sized wookiee costume for my (very odd) boss - the utter nonsense we used to put up with. At least I wasn't the poor sod who had to wear the damn thing on camera for a client presentation. Anyway, I was very late to the Amazon party, as this would have been around 2013 or so.

BogRollBOGOF · 16/03/2021 14:50

Probably 2003 and some academic texts for pre-reading for my PGCE.

I remember having to go across the road to the internet cafe in a hotel to do it and it was a weekly habit for checking my emails.

EscapeTheCastle · 16/03/2021 14:51

In 2000 I ordered Scrambled Eggs Super - Dr Suess.

That's the one they are no longer publishing although even 20 years ago you couldn't get it here easily in the UK (because of the nest stealing) and I think my very first amazon order therefore came from their US site.

Xmas present books for DM and DF, Christmas of 1999. Only a couple of things a year for the first five years or so, because I’ve always lived and worked close to physical bookshops, then a big binge for a couple of years, and then a reduction again as I made a concerted attempt to use physical shops which pay UK taxes wherever possible.

HeronLanyon · 16/03/2021 15:17

March 2005 incredible string band cds. Through while of 2005 and 2006 only cds. Then 2007 an iPod speaker then all sorts !
