Was looking for something in 'your orders' and idly clicked the drop-down box to look at previous orders by year.

Mine: 2001 - The Deeper Meaning of Liff by Douglas Adams et al

A Delia Smith cookbook in 2002. In the early days I mainly used to order through DH's account so it probably isn't my very first though.

I have the original Meaning of Liff book from the early 80s, still makes me laugh.

Oh and top marks for the deeper meaning of Liff.

A back scratcher in 2009. I'm sure I had Amazon before that.

Ilovechoc12 · 16/03/2021 13:45

Dyson vacuum cleaner as prime delivery 🤩🤩🤩

FinallyFluid · 16/03/2021 13:48

My sister and I still use Motspur and Shoebury.

Unconnected but to my enduring pride my 20 year old DS, does a passable monologue of the availability of an NHS bed. NTNOCN

TroysMammy · 16/03/2021 13:48

2009 - The Fruit Expert by Dr Hessayon. I've still got the book but have only dabbled in blackcurrants, strawberries, blueberries and strawberries. Harvesting a child's handful from each plant.

ConkerBonkers · 16/03/2021 13:48

Started using Amazon in 2002

First thing I bought were books on endometriosis as I had just been diagnosed Sad

Later that year I bought Enchanted April film for me and Barney's Sing and Dance for my nephew as he was the only child born at that time.

altforvarmt · 16/03/2021 13:53

The French Experience course book, August 2000.

April 2000 - a book on wedding flowers (was getting married that summer) and Harry Potter 2 and 3. I borrowed the first book from a friend and was hooked.

That makes me feel so old Grin

Mine was in 2000 and it was Last Chance to See - also by Douglas Adams!

I didn't realise and ordered it from the US site and it was practically tissue paper.

I have a love-hate relationship with Amazon. I hate what they [and we] have done to the High Street but I love that I can have practically anything almost immediately with one click of a button.

LadyDanburysHat · 16/03/2021 13:56

2008 The Haynes baby manual.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 16/03/2021 13:57

Funny looking through the orders.

Palm Pilot, TomTom GPS, and Canon digital camera in 2007.

All now replaced by one device.

ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 16/03/2021 13:58

December 2002, Birth Your Way by Sheila Kitzinger, I'd have been about 3 months pregnant with ds then.

GintyMcGinty · 16/03/2021 13:59

Bells3032 · 16/03/2021 14:00

An Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics (Access to Philosophy S.) in 2004. I was just starting year 12 then so this was for school.

May have been earlier orders though my parents accounts thought

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 16/03/2021 14:01

I actually can't see the very first things I bought from Amazon as I don't have that email address any more but it was back when I was living in Seattle, and several people I worked with had just lost their jobs at Amazon because it wasn't making any money so they had come to work at the dot com I was working at. They all lost their jobs in 2001 in the dot com crash. Luckily (for me) I'd left a few months previously.

Me too!
What was the first thing you ever bought on amazon?
sausagerollcake · 16/03/2021 14:02

I had a voucher in around 1998 for an online bookstore, I bought the cheapest book I could find so I didn't have to spend any actual money, I'd have been about 14/15 at the time.

That was my first ever Amazon order!

On my current account I bought War Horse in 2008.

vampirethriller · 16/03/2021 14:02

2011, River Road recipe book.
