Was looking for something in 'your orders' and idly clicked the drop-down box to look at previous orders by year.

Statistics book for my university course, and Christmas presents for my boyfriend (a cricket Wii game, the Chris Moyle Album and a London underground themed board game)

Crazzzycat · 16/03/2021 16:02

Mine was a book called “The Countryside Ideal”. It’s a book about the British idealisation of the countryside and the historic and cultural reasons behind that.

And before anyone says that’s very niche...when my DH moved in with me, he brought only a handful of books. One was his very own copy of The Countryside Ideal 😮 I’m fairly certain there can’t be many household with multiple copies of this riveting read!

@Gerla

Actually finding it quite depressing going through these past orders. So many things bought and then not used...especially books about completing your PhD and furthering your academic career....back when I still thought I might have a career! Sad
Flowers

I do sympathise. I felt like that for a while.

I “lost” several career years to caring, when I’d have preferred to have juggled on (mainly due to misogyny in the social care, education and health systems, but thats another thread). Then I lost some more time to illness.

Is your situation along those lines?

Don’t give up. It’s never too late for study. Nor work, and sometimes self employment is a good solution.

Cam2020 · 16/03/2021 16:04

It goes, back as far as 2006 - Cloud Atlas. I know I've ordered things long before then - maybe I had another account!

Ghost Whisperer Season 3 DVD back in 2009!

Gerla · 16/03/2021 16:08

@RickiTarr

Thank you! I did actually get the PhD but it was just impossible for me to use it without moving to another city and I couldn't do that with young children - and now I am just too old and out of the loop! I hope you managed better than I did. Flowers

I'm now looking at all the orders of miraculous hair products that I bought in the hope that they would reverse alopecia. They didn't! Actually, I think the moral of this story is to stop buying things thinking they can change your life! Grin
