What shall we name our house?

Where I'm from all the houses have names instead of numbers.

We're moving into a new house next month and we'd like to change the current name of it.

It's a bungalow on a corner plot but The Corner House just doesn't have a nice ring to it!

Out of interest (and because I'm too lazy to search) how do you go about changing a house name? Does it cost anything?

Plant a nice tree and call it after the tree - the Rowan or whatever.

Is it a new build? I'm not sure about a name if so, although Norman is an excellent suggestion.

Look at some old maps of the area and there may be a historical focal point for inspiration.

How easy is it to change the name of a house?

I’m going back a long way here, but DSIS & BIL were going to change the name of their house (it doesn’t have a number, just a name) but as the name was part of the official postal address there were complications to it. They left the name as it was in the end.

It’s different if the house also has a number & the number is the official address rather than the name. In that case the name is just for “fun”.

But Norman is an excellent idea.
