I’m just going to put it out there, kangaroos scare the crap out of me

I’ve just watched a video of a kangaroo banging aggressively on some glass.

It’s scary as hell. Then I made the mistake of googling kangaroos attack.

It’s a slow work day.

Just me? Or is there a benignly normal animal that scares the bejesus out of you.

I don't think you need to worry too much about this unless you live in the Australian Bush.

BaruFisher · 24/02/2021 15:36

Kangaroo attacks are rare unless you try to square up to them.
They are more of a concern as a road hazard as they bounce out in front of you on the road. This is why many people in Aus avoid driving at dawn and dusk.

FancyPuffin · 24/02/2021 15:36

Not scared of, but, I really really hate dolphins. Smug faced little assholes.

littlebillie · 24/02/2021 15:39

They are lovely, mostly very calm. Whereas otters scare me 🦦

Terfy · 24/02/2021 15:45

Chimps. They go for eyes, faces and hands when they attack 😱

Itscoldouthere · 24/02/2021 15:46

I like them but can understand, when travelling in Australia years ago we stayed in our camper van in a nature reserve, awoke early to see kangaroos running around outside, really close to us, they were amazing, but getting close to them was scary, they are so big and powerful, mind you I’m a bit scared of cows up close, so maybe big animals aren’t for me!

HollowTalk · 24/02/2021 15:51

I saw a video of kangaroos fighting each other and it was horrifying. They were so aggressive and vicious. I've never seen them as cute since!

Wellthisisallfuckingmarvellous · 24/02/2021 15:53

Fuck you Roger!

My DH couldn't understand why I ran past them when we visited a zoo. Because if they escape and fight me I will definitely lose the fight Sad
NebbiaZanzare · 24/02/2021 15:59

Nutria

They scare the hell out of me.

My son insisted on showing me some babies this morning. He's all "ahhhh !" but that bloody tail.

And the fear mummy and daddy might be lurking with their big horrible yellow fangs and even worse tails... Shock

So far no news reports of any harm to humans from them, but I trust them not. And they give me the collywibbles.

HemanOrSheRa · 24/02/2021 15:59

I think it's because they are on two legs not four and are very muscular. It's very unsettlingConfused. Isn't that one in the video fighting his reflection in the glass, thinking it's another kangaroo, rather than trying to force his way into the house?!

Lexilooo · 24/02/2021 15:59

Oh dear, I recommend going and watching "Dot and the Kangaroo" as a matter of urgency. You can't possibly be scared of that lovely kind Kangaroo that looked after Dot when she was lost in the bush.

Wellthisisallfuckingmarvellous · 24/02/2021 16:02

I think I’ve seen dot and the kangaroo when I was little.

Grin maybe watch some fluffy puppy/kitten videos to counteract the crazy kangaroo ones?

ladygindiva · 24/02/2021 16:10

Cats freak me out. They're evil.

Superstardjs · 24/02/2021 16:17

I have an irrational fear of manatees.

Unfucked · 24/02/2021 16:43

They look like giant rats.

Normal sized rats scare the shit out of me, so seeing them scaled up is beyond my worst nightmares.

I don’t like koalas either. Or many of the Australians i’ve met, in fact.

CautiouslyPessimistic · 24/02/2021 21:04

Moths. They flitter flutter in your face in the dark with no warning Angry They're butterflies gone wrong and they have those weird head feely things. Bleurgh.

morekidsthanhands · 24/02/2021 21:20

Weird I've been watching videos about kangaroos today. About how they give birth and pouches- now that's scary!

Wellthisisallfuckingmarvellous · 24/02/2021 21:23

@Unfucked my ex husband is Australian although I have never been perhaps this is where my unsettled fear comes from.

They are so butch what the hell. Kangaroos are fucking ripped! I saw one and I swear to god it had Abs.

I am like this with spiders, Mayflies and Daddy Long Legs. I like Kangaroos however. I have film of me feeding a joey and its Ma during a visit to Australia.

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 24/02/2021 21:36

Kangaroos give me the absolute fear. It's the way they jump, it's so unexpected. Things with two legs should walk.

Also those mountain goats who climb the mountain then stand really, really still. Why? What are they doing? Who are they waiting for?

I once stayed overnight in Sydney zoo. You can tell it went well.

Weedsnseeds1 · 24/02/2021 21:37

Kangaroos are bloody massive close up. And strong. And aggressive if you catch them on a bad day.
It's cows you have to worry about in the UK...
