I’m just going to put it out there, kangaroos scare the crap out of me

I’ve just watched a video of a kangaroo banging aggressively on some glass.

It’s scary as hell. Then I made the mistake of googling kangaroos attack.

It’s a slow work day.

Just me? Or is there a benignly normal animal that scares the bejesus out of you.

Hehe I live in Western Australia and have about 10 come into my backyard and nibble on the grass every evening 😊😊

Be careful @whinetime89 they’re casing the joint. You’ll wake up one night and they’ll all be there watching you 👀

Hoppinggreen · 25/02/2021 14:51

Wellthisisallfuckingmarvellous · 25/02/2021 15:10

@iklboo see this is my point he is even screwing up a bin to show off his pure strength.

Maybe kangaroos are the animal worlds version of this.

Just an overly aggressive muscular man with issues.

wondarah · 25/02/2021 15:23

I hate monkeys, they are crafty & mean

PlinkPlink · 25/02/2021 15:24

Sloths...

Freak me the fuck out.

They disturbing and weird and should not be trusted.

PlinkPlink · 25/02/2021 15:31

Woah, just watched those kanga videos... super disturbing.

I thought kangaroos were cute, bouncy, fluffy things... how wrong was I?

wondarah · 25/02/2021 15:47

I was walking in a wildlife reserve & a tree next to me started shaking. Looked up & the monkey locked eyes & showed me his teeth, was growling at me- shit myself

I'm having a bad day so treated myself to rereading the first page of the dolphin thread which I think is my favourite thread ever.
First time I read it I had to go for a walk to stop laughing.

ChonkyChook · 25/02/2021 15:57

@Unfucked

They look like giant rats.

Normal sized rats scare the shit out of me, so seeing them scaled up is beyond my worst nightmares.

I don’t like koalas either. Or many of the Australians i’ve met, in fact.

Do share......

People keep saying they can't stand monkeys or apes
But we ARE apes. Is that why - like looking in a distorted mirror of ourselves or something?

FossilisedFanny · 25/02/2021 16:32

I don’t think we are apes are we ? I thought the fact that we evolved from apes has been debunked.

Pemba · 25/02/2021 16:46

Technically apes and us descend from a common ape-like ancestor I think. And 98 % of our DNA is shared with chimpanzees.

I feel like they are as clever as us but without the human "rules" if that makes sense.

wondarah · 25/02/2021 17:16

Like if a random human bites you we know as a society it's weird & murder is also not within the acceptable norms whereas I feel with chimps etc its completely normal

Raccoons. They are much bigger than I thought and there are tons of creepy photos of gangs of them surrounding people and staring at them. One dropped out of a tree in front of me one night as I was walking home and I nearly had kittens.

Also bears. Because... well, because they're bears.

NoMackerelInSwindon · 25/02/2021 17:57

They are very good at keeping pests from your garden.

@squeekums

*Shut the front door, is this true? They drown dogs?!?!*

From wiki

Kangaroos and wallabies are adept swimmers, and often flee into waterways if presented with the option. If pursued into the water, a large kangaroo may use its forepaws to hold the predator underwater so as to drown it.[42] Another defensive tactic described by witnesses is catching the attacking dog with the forepaws and disembowelling it with the hind legs.

Shock

See, I didn't know any of that yet I still hated them. Always trust your instincts Holdon, trust your instincts.

Pemba · 25/02/2021 18:13

Yeah, but if the dog is going after them, presumably to kill them, you kind of think 'fair enough'.

Cocolapew · 25/02/2021 18:20

Opossums, they way they carry their young on their back gives me the boke. Stupid name too.
Sloths, not too bad when they are hanging from a branch but fuck me have you seen one on the ground? The drag along like something out of a Zombie film.
