Kids TV series of the 90s.....anyone want to join me in reminiscing?

Someone on another thread has just mentioned “The Biz” which was from memory one of CBBC’s 5pm weekly series from back in the 90s. It’s got me thinking about all the other great stuff from that era (I was junior / secondary school age during the 90s) and can remember the following;

Watt on Earth (about an alien man who lives in a boys shed?!!)
The Queens Nose (and I had a major girl crush on the ginger girl, I just thought she was so beautiful and sassy)
5 children and It (what was that sand creature called?!! And I remember time travel being involved)
The Borrowers (Sunday tea time, my parents tried to get me into the books and failed)
Dark Season (a Russell T Davies one and quite dark / scary)
No Sweat (boy band)

Anyone else want a trip down memory lane? That’s all I can think of for now!

Where's Wally was made into a cartoon for a bit. And I remember Out of Tune, with a young Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby) in.

Tailspin, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers......

We also like the old 1930s silly symphonies too... they would come on in the afternoon between programmes. I loved the chart show too!

brushandmop · 23/02/2021 23:00

There was an Australian programme about parallel worlds that I loved but cannot remember the name of it. It was a CITV show on around 4:40. If anyone can remember they will be forever in my heart.

Also not really a kids show but I loved Due South

Youngatheart00 · 23/02/2021 23:03

@brushandmop was it the girl from tomorrow?

PoochiePlush · 23/02/2021 23:06

Does anyone remember the random Japanese tv programme "Monkey"?

2010rachel29 · 23/02/2021 23:06

@Timeforabiscuit

The story teller!
Watched this again recently on prime and kids loved it. Really nostalgic watching for me.
brushandmop · 23/02/2021 23:06

@Youngatheart00 and the main character was definitely a boy

Whatwouldscullydo · 23/02/2021 23:08

young omg I think thats it. My cavey/spacey one with the girl. Dark hair and a light or something?

toria658 · 23/02/2021 23:08

Press Gang was amazing ( sometimes watch it now)

There was a lot of quality children’s viewing during the 80’s and 90’s less so now I feel, or it might be I am just getting old!

usedandabusedx1000 · 23/02/2021 23:09

@snowstorm2012 I feel a little bit gutted that you beat me to the post with pugwall! It’s never given enough love!!!

Are you afraid of the dark and finders keepers have already been mentioned!

I also liked some kids game shows called terror towers (was set in a haunted house and there was a spider called Boris)

And on Nickelodeon there was one called legends of the hidden temple!

@SingToTheSky

I have all the famous five DVDs too 😳 I was obsessed with the books and when the TV series was made I was so happy. I have the 70s series too. Comfort viewing!

There was also a version of the Castle of Adventure, if not others. Not the New Zealand ones (which, yes, I also have on DVD...) but a British one. Never did find it, I borrowed it from the library on video at the time.

I have those too. 70s and 90s in DVDs and the Island of Adventure and Castle of Adventure VHS. You can watch the Castle of Adventure starting with episode 1 here: I think it's the best adaption of any of EB ones. They have the relationships between the main children just right. Tassie is not quite right, but Brian Blessed is brilliant.

I also have the FF on VHS if anyone wants them. I can't bring myself to send them to landfill, but no one I knows still has a video player.

Also the 90s version of Tomorrow People was one of my favourites.

This was early 80's!

Can't believe nobody's mentioned SupergranOr was that 80s?

Mid 80's

Whatsnewpussyhat · 23/02/2021 23:10

Also the 90s version of Tomorrow People was one of my favourites

Didn't this have Todd from Neighbour in?

Loved CITV as a child -

Truckers
Zap!
The Dreamstone

Anyone remember ‘Oasis’ a drama about some children running some kind of city farm?

PoochiePlush · 23/02/2021 23:16

Oh goodness these are such a flash from the past.

Does anyone remember Words and Pictures? It has a magic pencil to show you how to write letters. That was maybe 80s too.

Wtfdidwedo · 23/02/2021 23:17

Basically everything on Trouble and Nickelodeon, but the very short lived Mortal Kombat series was always my favourite!

On the subject of the BBC/educational types shown in school, please tell me someone remembers Earth Warp with a weird alien called Olly who came from the sea?!

DragonPoop · 23/02/2021 23:18

Not sure if these are all strictly 90’s or if a few are early 00’s but I loved:
Zap!
The worst witch,
Lloyd in space (I believe it was Disney)
Dr. Zitbag's Transylvania Pet Shop,
The Amanda show,
Are you afraid of the dark?
Goosebumps (my favourite was ‘One day in Horrorland’ and the one set in the Tower of London)
The wild thornberries.

PoochiePlush · 23/02/2021 23:21

The Worst Witch
Chucklevision! (To you, to me, to you, to me)

goldfishblub · 23/02/2021 23:22

Loads already mentioned

Also trap door and Sharkey and George

lurker101 · 23/02/2021 23:23

Arthur
Byker Grove
Home Farm Twins (I had the books too)
Demon Headmaster
Saved by the bell

See how they run (terrified me 😂)
Sabrina the teenage witch

Not kids shows but I loved them around the same time:
Baywatch
At home with the Braithwaites
Bad Girls

FrankiesKnuckle · 23/02/2021 23:24

Blossom!

Advice4worriedMum · 23/02/2021 23:26

I loved Poddington Peas (maybe late 80s)

Wizadora

The Monster Cafe (which also creeped me out)

Playdays

Raggy dolls

Shoetown (I think it was called that)

The animals of farthing wood

Advice4worriedMum · 23/02/2021 23:26

Bernards Watch

Advice4worriedMum · 23/02/2021 23:28

Does anyone remember the programme about a family of pirates? The Nan was Nana out of The Royle family.
