Kids TV series of the 90s.....anyone want to join me in reminiscing?

Someone on another thread has just mentioned “The Biz” which was from memory one of CBBC’s 5pm weekly series from back in the 90s. It’s got me thinking about all the other great stuff from that era (I was junior / secondary school age during the 90s) and can remember the following;

Watt on Earth (about an alien man who lives in a boys shed?!!)
The Queens Nose (and I had a major girl crush on the ginger girl, I just thought she was so beautiful and sassy)
5 children and It (what was that sand creature called?!! And I remember time travel being involved)
The Borrowers (Sunday tea time, my parents tried to get me into the books and failed)
Dark Season (a Russell T Davies one and quite dark / scary)
No Sweat (boy band)

Anyone else want a trip down memory lane? That’s all I can think of for now!

Oh oh oh oh, and Potsworth and Co! And whoever mentioned Out of This World, I had such strong memories of that for years and had no idea what it was, just the finger thing and there was a weird crystally diamond thing she spoke to her dad through. Thank you age of Google for helping me find out what it was!

Whatwouldscullydo · 23/02/2021 22:40

What was that cartoon where they all flew around in a bird? There were lots of steps

GoodQueenAlysanne · 23/02/2021 22:40

Loads of nickelodeon and disney shows mentioned, Sabrina the teenage witch, Lizzy Maguire etc. Also are you afraid of the dark? and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. Pokémon, digimon, and sailor moon (late 90's?).

What was that cartoon where they all flew around in a bird?

Cities of gold? Their plane was a big golden eagle I think.

Nohomemadecandles · 23/02/2021 22:42

@tinylittleyou oh my! I've just watched him tonight in s2 of Unforgotten and wondered where I'd seen him before Grin

Artesia · 23/02/2021 22:42

I loved Johnny Briggs, with the trombone theme tune.

I'm ashamed to admit, there's a really prissy girl in DS's class, and whenever she speaks i find myself saying "My Mother, who's a nurse..." in the manner of the twins from Johnny Briggs.

SingToTheSky · 23/02/2021 22:43

POTSWORTH!!! I was literally thinking about that the other day. Oddly a Winnie the Pooh cartoon episode always reminds me of it

Whatwouldscullydo · 23/02/2021 22:43

That sounds about right whatsnew Grin

Mouseparty · 23/02/2021 22:45

Harry and the Hendersons

Sweet Valley High
@MichelleScarn T-bag! 😬

Oh yes, point horror books were great. I was slightly too old for goosebumps but I still read them. Along with point crime, point romance (anything point!!) and babysitters club 😬.

Speaking of babysitters club - did anyone see the Netflix reboot earlier this year? I LOVED it (also the Malory towers reboot!). Definitely want more nostalgia like that.
Oh god!! You've just given me a flash back to the Point Crime books! I bought the entire series of "The Beat" from that for about 50p when our local library was selling off old stock. I was obsessed!!

That's me off to search Amazon!!

TheNestedIf · 23/02/2021 22:45

The Dark Season is why I will always have time for Kate Winslett. I have it on DVD. Also a big Knightmare fan.

Did nobody else like Reboot (which ITV failed to broadcast in its entirety)? I have since seen the last episodes and the films. They came from the net...

Trainerdilemma · 23/02/2021 22:47

Ooh a little later on I used to sneakily watch Twin peaks on my tiny tv in my bedroom, don’t think I was allowed 🤷🏻‍♀️

GoodQueenAlysanne · 23/02/2021 22:47

I've just remembered Johnny Bravo, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. Dexters lab. I didn't watch Cartoon Network as much, but had a few favourites (my dad liked Johnny Bravo Hmm).

Can anyone remember what the kids channel that showed digimon, sailor moon etc was called?

LouNatics · 23/02/2021 22:47

Five children and It - Samoyed / Sameyad = Psammead. I was the other way round, I read the book first and didn’t know how to pronounce the word until I saw it on TV.

Knightmare was awesome. Round the twist, Maid Marian and her merry men. Tried to get the DC into Round the Twist, the fist episode is about a haunted toilet. My friend was on Funhouse.

I never got into Grange Hill. Art Attack never quite filled the gap left by Take Hart with Tony Hart and Morph. That was wonderful.

How about Trapdoor?

HulahoopsBBQbeef · 23/02/2021 22:49

@Youngatheart00 thank you so much for starting this thread. I’ve just spent the last half an hour searching YouTube for a lot of these programmes and it brings back so many happy memories. It’s funny how many of the theme tunes I recognize!

Trainerdilemma · 23/02/2021 22:49

Blossom, yes!
I always remember a particularly good Christmas Day opening our presents and then there was a Blossom special on where she went to Paris, I’ve never found that episode since..I’m off to Google

Muppet babies was very cute

Magicmonster · 23/02/2021 22:50

I loved the ones they show in schools - Dark Towers and Through the Dragon’s Eye

TheresAnEyeInMeSoup · 23/02/2021 22:52

Anyone remember the California Raisins cartoon? Musical raisins 😂

Whatsnewpussyhat · 23/02/2021 22:52

Reallybadidea · 23/02/2021 22:57

Can't believe nobody's mentioned Supergran Shock Or was that 80s?
Wizbit with Paul Daniels was mad
Wacaday with Timmy Mallet
What was the one set in a children's home? I used to walk past the house that was used as the film location every day on my way home from school.
