Wow! This thread is a real eye opener.

eternalopt · 15/02/2021 09:39

Citizenship wise, what will number 2 be? American as born in America to an American mother? Does that mean they'll have one child with a uk passport and another with a us one? Not that I think they'll be stopped from going anywhere! Just curious

To my albeit limited knowledge if the baby is born in the states they will be an American citizen and have an American passport.
31RooCambon · 15/02/2021 09:44

@Roussette

Calm down lol.

Don't worry, I'm quite calm. Thanks for your concern though!
Maybe I touched a nerve...

No! lol, what nerve could you possibly have touched!? My royal nerve! ha, no. My celebrity nerve?! No. My better looking than everybody else I've ever met nerve? No. No such nerve in body sadly. My ginger nerve! ah yeh, could be.

I know some people feel very passionate in their defense of MM and H though.

31RooCambon · 15/02/2021 09:45

A post of mine has been deleted? for saying that they need to make sure their charity is transparent!?

Wow.

lynsey91 · 15/02/2021 09:46

I think it is lovely news. I also think it is a beautiful picture. It shows how much in love they are which some people seem to find annoying.

Read your own rules mumsnet

Mumsnet's Talk Guidelines
Mumsnet Talk is not a pre-moderated forum. Our policy is to keep intervention to a minimum and let the conversation flow. That said, we're also here to make parents' lives easier, so where necessary, we will use our discretion to delete posts (or ban posters) if it seems to us that doing so is in keeping with this aim.

We do have a few forum rules to make sure we keep Talk a good place to hang out:

No personal attacks
No posts that break the law, including hate speech of any kind
No trolling, misleading or deliberately inflammatory behaviour
No trollhunting
No spamming
You can report any of the above to us using the report button above each post.

Our statement on the moderation of transgender and gender-critical issues is here.

Remember, we do not pre-moderate posts. We rely on our members to let us know about any posts that break our Guidelines.

31RooCambon · 15/02/2021 09:50

This thread and mumsnet deleting posts left right and centre is a complete joke.

You can't even say why they come in for criticism now. Anybody with any intelligence can tell the difference between slating them and saying why they put themselves in line for criticism.

But mumsnet are pressing delete on every second post!

MichaelMumsnet · 15/02/2021 09:53

Hi all, just dropping by with the usual reminder to please bear in mind our guideline on civil debate. To try to keep things on track we'll probably delete posts that are unsourced gossip, speculation, or ones that are just plainly not in the spirit of the site.

We've removed a couple of threads so far and also a number of posts which have crossed the line of what we think is acceptable.

Please do report anything that you'd like us to take a look at. We're fine with posts about stories that have appeared in mainstream outlets but we'll take a view on unsourced internet rumours - so again, please do report any you see.

Peace and love,
MNHQ

My neighbour is American with a British husband and a child born in the U.K. that child has both British and American dual citizenship. I assume the same works the other way!

Very handy to have two passports as you get older! Much more opportunities Smile

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 15/02/2021 10:13

Lovely news. They look really happy in the photograph. I wish them well.

HI MichaelMumsnet, I did not break any guidelines and yet a post of mine was deleted, which makes it look like I broke one of your guidelines when I did not. Obviously that is not great moderation.

Peace and love.

@Roussette

What a sad shame that on a parenting site frequented by mostly women, that they can't either avoid the thread, or wish them congratulations. But use this announement to spread the nastiness. So much for women supporting women eh?
This. The nastiness towards this couple is distasteful. So much anger and hate from some people. I could never imagine feeling like that about people I do not personally know, who have done nothing to me. How sad for those people to feel that way.
MrsBobDylan · 15/02/2021 10:19

Why have they posted a picture where the first thing I saw was the bottom of Harry's foot? Wtf!

I find the picture a bit staged and overly intimate. I don't even know them.

Port1aCastis · 15/02/2021 10:22

Congratulations to them,
Boris was born in America so I wonder if our prime minister still has his American citizenship?

Motherdare · 15/02/2021 10:26

All I see are Harry’s feet. I don’t like to see men’s feet generally.

Roussette · 15/02/2021 10:27

I know some people feel very passionate in their defense of MM and H though

And on the other side of the coin,
I know some people feel very passionate in their dislike of MM and H though

BiggerBoat1 · 15/02/2021 10:33

I wish them well as I would with any couple, but they wanted privacy so I'm not sure why we all have to view this incredibly self-indulgent photograph.

They need to just get on with their lives and stop expecting the rest of us to care.

MissEliza · 15/02/2021 10:35

Does BJ still have his American citizenship? Unless you use it to live and work in the US, it can be a millstone due to the need to file US tax returns.

31RooCambon · 15/02/2021 10:36

You're WRONG. I quite like them and I wish they wouldn't keep walking in to the firing line making it easy for criticism.

The moderation is so shit though that my posts saying that have been deleted which makes it very difficult for anybody to get a clear picture of what was really said.

I am not a ''hater'' Confused ffs, but when you cannot even say, in answer to somebody else's question btw that the reason that they come in for criticism is x, y or z, then the whole situation is ridiculous. They have gone from being criticised for ludicrous things like faking a pregnancy to now being holy grails who cannot even be asked why a cheque went in to harry's account and not straight to the charity he was accepting it on behalf of.

And mumsnet haven't a clue. Somebody in their office is just pressing delete on the grounds that a post was reported, not on the ground that it broke guidelines.

Roussette · 15/02/2021 10:37

You really don't have to view it you know BiggerBoat. You could just see the headline and think 'oh, she's pregnant again' and move on.

They had to announce it given the baby is 8th or something in succession. So obviously those that care about the Monarchy would think it was bad form and awful not to announce this.

I do believe they are getting on with their lives in very many different ways.
Just very pleased for them.

Samcro · 15/02/2021 10:39

i would rather defend them than pick apart every thing they do.
it is good that mn hq are deleting posts. the unnecessary nastiness posted about them says a lot about the people posting it.

SoupDragon · 15/02/2021 10:40

I did not break any guidelines

No, you just think you didn't because you think you are right.

Roussette · 15/02/2021 10:41

31 why don't you start a thread then about all this nefarious stuff they are supposedly doing? I could answer you on it, but to be honest, this is a thread entitled H&M are having a second child to which the only answer is... 'Great, congratulations'
