To be delivered. Never ever done it before. But got sick of cooking myself and miss eating out. It arrived in 9 minutes! So impressed. (It was Nando's!)

I'm not a stranger to takeaways but in uni I only ate pizza once. From supermarket. Buying a pizza cutter before uni was not worth it.

DwangelaForever · 05/02/2021 19:12

Of all the takeaway options to have as your first you chose nandos Sad

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/02/2021 19:13

@Toddlerteaplease

Unless you count my mum phoning my dad and telling him to pick up chips in his way home!
On the very occasion that we had a chippy tea as kids, my grandad used to have to drive to get it. There was a chippy in walking distance but my grandma didn't trust it. While he was gone, she'd warm the plates, butter loads of bread, and set the table. No eating out of the paper on the sofa for us! Grin
TheCrowening · 05/02/2021 19:13

I can’t actually remember the first time I had a food delivery but I would have been well into my 20s. It would probably have been a curry.

Now I order it every weekend!

Is this the next mn brag, never having a takeaway?

It's up there with no tv in kids bedrooms, kids never have McDonald's etc etc

MagicSummer · 05/02/2021 19:14

I am over 65 and have NEVER had a takeaway! Don't like Chinese, Indian, Thai, KFC, Macdonalds or fish and chips!

Spacecudet · 05/02/2021 19:14

Never had a take away delivered. Collected sometimes, but eat take out very rarely. It's never as nice as the food my husband cooks, so I don't let him out of the kitchen. Never eaten Nando's either.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 05/02/2021 19:14

Do you live alone op? I’ve never had a take away delivered just for me. I’d rather just have eggs on toast to be honest! But I have had one when other people want one.

Spacecudet · 05/02/2021 19:14

I'm 43

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 05/02/2021 19:15

Got one thai delivery to my parents house in my early 20s. It did feel rather luxurious.

Gwenhwyfar · 05/02/2021 19:16

I'm about 5 years older than you and I've done it about twice in my life.
If I don't want to cook, I just buy something to heat up quickly. I don't see the point of paying almost restaurant prices to eat at home.

This made me laugh. No the kids don't have a TV in the bedroom, but they did eat McDonald's a few years ago.

Hardly a brag is it. I eat very unhealthily, but don't bother with takeaways.

Jesus wept she’s saying she’s never had a takeaway, not that she lived off grid
I can quite honestly say if I had not ordered a delivery to my mum she’d have never ever had one. It’d have been a thing of deep suspicion and drama, calling up, reading out a menu, waiting in delivery

DwangelaForever · 05/02/2021 19:20

I don't believe people saying they've never had a takeaway, maybe you haven't had one delivered but have you never had fish and chips at the sea side, a takeaway sandwich from a deli, a fry up from a garage at a service station on the motorway, a drive through McDonald's?

daisypond · 05/02/2021 19:21

I had my first takeaway delivered in the first lockdown. I’m mid-50s. My parents have never had one. If we didn’t feel like cooking, we’d do a basic bit of pasta, or cheese on toast, or a bowl of cereal.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 05/02/2021 19:24

None of your examples are takeaways @DwangelaForever
All those examples are ordered and paid face to face
A takeaway is phone or online and not face to face

Walking into the chippy or greggs to order is not takeaway,it’s food you eat out
Food at service station is ordered and eaten in

Mcd is a face to face order , from the car

Oh yes, I do that all the time. I thought we were talking about them being delivered to the house.
daisypond · 05/02/2021 19:27

I wouldn’t call a sandwich you buy from a shop a takeaway. I’ve never had a fry-up at a service station in the motorway. Wouldn’t that be eating in, like at a restaurant? Never been to a drive-through anything. I’m not aware of where any might be. (Don’t have a car.)

Ninkanink · 05/02/2021 19:28

I saw this on trending and totally thought it was going to say ‘vibrator’.

But Nando’s is okay too...👍

Gwenhwyfar · 05/02/2021 19:28

"If we didn’t feel like cooking, we’d do a basic bit of pasta, or cheese on toast, or a bowl of cereal."

Pasta is cooking!
I put a pizza in the over for 10 minutes. Just as good as a takeaway pizza and a fraction of the price.

DwangelaForever · 05/02/2021 19:28

Is disagree!! The name is TAKE-AWAY meaning not sitting in the restaurant to eat lol. If I order an Indian or a Chinese then drive to the restaurant and pick it up it most deffo is a takeaway. Same with drive through McDonald's or a sandwich brought from a deli to eat at my desk or at home

Confusedandshaken · 05/02/2021 19:29

Enjoy!

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 05/02/2021 19:29

@DwangelaForever are you seriously going to try redeem your shaky post?
Yea but no but,takeAWAY but

I disagree, you can eat in or take away. The face to face doesn't make a difference. If you take it with you it's a take away.
