What lockdown habit will you keep after this is all over?

I have a few I think

  • click and collect for shopping (find it actually easier than delivery).
  • weekly pasta subscription

Anything you’ve started that you’ll keep once we are back to normal (whenever that is).

Meal planning.
Food deliveries.
Better use of Amazon list and delivery day rather than and as when when I could get stuff delivered to work. Now wfh home I can’t have things delivered most days. Found this has helped me look at what I have in basket and think again. Don’t buy much online but fewer random purchases.
Got my finances in better order lockdown 1. Closed dormant accounts etc. Plan to keep it that way.
Had major shredding sorting reducing of paperwork still doing it. Aim to keep this under control.
Made a will lockdown 1 - need to do connected things like poa and living will etc.
Better hand hygiene. Haven’t had a cold or other illness for two winters now !

None.

yeOldeTrout · 04/02/2021 19:46

Friend (had a terrible manager) says she loves WFH: I think she's nuts. She's extroverted & anxious & needs to see people & get out of her own head.

me: I can't of anything I don't want to jettison. Soz.

Not washing my hair everyday. Nowdays if I'm not going anywhere I don't have a shower either just pits and bits. Saved a fortune on shampoo and soap.

MrsToadlike · 04/02/2021 20:09

Working from home as much as I can, although I'll still have to go into the office occasionally. So much time saved on commuting.
Cutting my husband's hair with clippers. He's pleased with the job I do!
Food shopping home delivery. Convenient and saves loads of time.
Getting a takeaway from a local rural cafe every fortnight. The food is delicious, I hope they keep offering a takeaway service.
Going for a walk with the family.

GCSE maths! Lifelong maths phobia (I'm 60) and I started an online course 2 weeks ago. I'm really enjoying it and hoping the Summer 2022 exams will go ahead.

SweetMeadow · 04/02/2021 20:15

Making bread every couple of days.
Supermarket delivery.
Lots of subscriptions: gousto, Smol, Milk & Moore, Grind coffee pods (compostable!), Pura baby wipes and Gruum shampoo and conditioner bars. Swapping to bars has been one of the loveliest and most surprising changes.
And having my DP around to spend the mornings and evenings with DP - he was always commuting.

And just tried this fresh pasta subscription which was delicious (if a bit too pricey):

Coloring my hair. I actually like the result more than when the hairdresser did it, and it's a lot cheaper. DH helps with the application, and he's getting quite accomplished.

TheWashingMachine · 04/02/2021 20:18

I will wear my slippers at work, if I ever go back.

bendmeoverbackwards · 04/02/2021 20:21

I’ll never shake hands with anyone again, horrible custom.

SenecaFallsRedux · 04/02/2021 20:21

Also, for work I do quite a bit of training presentations via Zoom. I think many of those will continue as it's cheaper and easier to get people to attend.

rainbownamebow · 04/02/2021 20:23

@wintermoths

Absolutely fucking nothing. I've hated it.
I'm with you, we've been shielding for a year, I haven't even been to the shops, I'm demotivated, fat and struggle to get dressed. I want my life back.
PaddingtonsSister · 04/02/2021 20:28

RJnomore1 · 04/02/2021 21:06

None of them. I’m keeping absolutely nothing from this utter shite the moment I can legally ditch it.

Deelish75 · 04/02/2021 21:08

Washing my hands when I come in and using hand sanitizer when out and about.
Always done meal planning and supermarket delivery. Although I have changed my day from Saturday to Sunday. My local supermarket has started doing click and collect so I’ve changed my mid week top up shop to that instead of going in store - there are lots of slots for C&C midweek. I feel it’s better than going in store.
Buy a fresh bunch of flowers each week. (Helps to get my top up shop over the limit).

I am missing swimming and I did like having to book a slot - as it was prepaid it made me go and there were less people in the pool, but I don’t think that’ll stay unfortunately.

No learning?? No wisdom? No growth?

RJnomore1 · 04/02/2021 21:14

Oh don’t get me wrong I’ve rattled on with my doctorate and I’m doing a post grad certificate I probably wouldn’t have taken on yet if I had a fucking life but otherwise no. Absolutely nothing about this has been positive.

Unless you go for my renewed determination to go everywhere, do everything and hug everyone all the fecking time.

PolarnOPirate · 04/02/2021 21:15

Painting
Daily exercise
Chilled weekends with the kids
Keeping the house and garden nice

Couple will be a challenge if/when DH goes back to commuting!
