What lockdown habit will you keep after this is all over?

I have a few I think

  • click and collect for shopping (find it actually easier than delivery).
  • weekly pasta subscription

Anything you’ve started that you’ll keep once we are back to normal (whenever that is).

Avoiding my DM on social media
Halo

Ihatesandwiches · 04/02/2021 17:23

DD and I never had long lies. Always work /school/early paid for activity. She comes into my bed and we laze for an hour. I love that hour of calm. No distractions. Just us and whatever pops into our heads. Sometimes it is pancakes, sometimes toast. Perhaps a bike ride. Best moments ever, our late mornings in bed!

Staying in more snd spending less. It's the only thing that's really changed for me.

Working from home 3 days per week
Buying fewer clothes / ‘stuff’
Going to the supermarket very first thing when it’s quiet

Gertie75 · 04/02/2021 17:33

Less shopping trips and meals out, I've finally got some money in my savings account and it's because I've had no impulse purchases or meals out.
I've learnt lots of new recipes and can do meals much cheaper and as good as the local pubs that we used to go to most weekends.

I do wonder if a lot of shops, pubs and restaurants will have less custom in the future now we've realised we can easily manage without so much stuff.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 04/02/2021 17:46

Absolutely nothing.

LaLoose · 04/02/2021 17:49

See, I understand that it's great that everyone is different and also celebrate that some people have found things in all this they love and want to keep. And yes, I also understand that what you would keep is the object of the thread. However, some of it makes me a bit sad. FWIW, personally, when lockdown is over I will

Hug and kiss everyone
Get absurdly dressed up and plastered in make-up
Go out to eat extravagantly as often as I can afford
Avoid ANY MORE days in this house and its surroundings

Sorry, had to get that out. As you were...

afrikat · 04/02/2021 17:54

Friday date nights even if we aren't leaving the house

12frogsincoats · 04/02/2021 17:57

Wearing a mask. Really disguises how ugly I am.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/02/2021 17:57

Nothing at all. I'll be straight back to the life that I loved pre Covid. I'll spend even less time in the house than I did before, I'm sick of it!

PrincessNutNuts · 04/02/2021 18:00

Nail varnish.

Something about coating bits of me in plastic feels weird AF

FatCatThinCat · 04/02/2021 18:04

I'm very tempted to drop all the after school clubs. It's rather nice to get home from school run and not have to leave the house again until morning. But mummy guilt will kick in as it's DS's only social life because he's autistic.

Lovesacake · 04/02/2021 18:15

Lots of mine have been mentioned already....giving up the gym and exercising at home/outside, not feeling obliged to fill every spare minute with activities. I’ve never known such a peaceful life as I’ve had this past year. As long as I don’t watch the news or speak to anyone I can live in quite a happy bubble at home.

Lovesacake · 04/02/2021 18:16

Lol I’m the opposite..I’ve spent the last year trying to master the art of painting my own nails 😂 I’m still shit at it but the good thing with social distancing is no one can get close enough to tell.
LadyofMisrule · 04/02/2021 18:18

Meal planning. Working from home (I did that quite a lot anyway, and I love it). Milk delivery. I'll be keeping Disney Plus.

I hope the online gigs and presentations will continue; those have been great.

PrincessNutNuts · 04/02/2021 18:21

@Lovesacake Lets hope someone clever does some research into all this to tell us why we're all so different.

I'm a "glass half full, find the positives" sort of person and I'm quite adaptable. I always adjust to the situation I'm in, but I haven't done anything creative or learned a new skill this whole time!

cretelover · 04/02/2021 18:21

@LindaEllen

Avoiding people whenever possible 😆
I was thinking the same. Aren't we awful Grin
Xmascardcrap · 04/02/2021 18:24

WFH, walking every day, not drinking alcohol, and cutting my own hair. Hoping to keep up the healthy eating/weight loss too but baby steps.

likeacrow · 04/02/2021 18:24

Avoiding people. People who get too close in queues for instance. It's good to have an excuse to move away.
Going for more walks.
Not feeling a constant low level anxiety that I'm not doing enough for my 3 year old in terms of costly activities/holidays.
Not feeling like I need to socialise more. It's nice to have the pressure off.

likeacrow · 04/02/2021 18:25

Ooh yes, Disney Plus too!

Same! I guess I'm lucky. I like my house, I like my family. I've found the positives about working from home. I've discovered the deep joy of joggers. Grin
chipsandgin · 04/02/2021 18:26

Nothing at all, it’s been a relentless, exhausting shower of shit blur throughout.

Saying that I may stop making social plans for every single weekend though, we always intended to keep one weekend free a month but it was inevitably the only weekend left free when people suggested something at the last minute. So, I guess the only change, ironically, would be staying at home/socialising less. Can’t see it happening for while once we’re allowed to as there will be a lot of fun to catch up on!

Nooooooo. I don't believe that for one second.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 04/02/2021 18:27

Actually speaking to friends on the phone rather than text or WhatsApp.

I am SO pleased that you won't be expected to kiss people on first time of meeting them. I hate this.
