I have a few I think

  • click and collect for shopping (find it actually easier than delivery).
  • weekly pasta subscription

Anything you’ve started that you’ll keep once we are back to normal (whenever that is).

Walking every day.

Asda scan and go app (means I don’t have to speak to anyone- unless the self service till is being a twat)

Roadtohades · 04/02/2021 16:37

Cooking more adventurous meals. Zoom calling friends and family who are far away. And I hope I'll be able to continue to get up later in the mornings, which has become a huge pleasure for me! I used to think I was a natural early riser, but lockdown has cured me.

Keeping one day each weekend as a 'just us' day. Whether we just have a day of films and lazing around or use it to visit somewhere, I'm pulling the plug on the constant accepting invitations or getting involved in community stuff when, actually, we've not had a weekend to ourselves for weeks. We'll still be happy to help out, just not every weekend or at everyone's beck and call when we've got a busy weekend anyway.

Before Covid I would run myself ragged with trying to please everyone and felt guilty if I said we were busy. Now I'm realising that having that one day makes everyone much more relaxed so I'm being much more picky about who we visit or help and when.

I've always done meal planning so that's stayed the same and I used to have deliveries anyway - although I'd always go to the shops a couple of times a week to get fresh salad/fruit. Plus we'd get through a lot of yogurts (DS I'm looking at you) and biscuits (DH...)

Other than that and the hope that DH can work from home much more (he used to work away five days a week), I'll be happy to get back to normal to see friends/family and get away for a break. Plus my mum died during lockdown last year (not Covid) and, as it was at the start, her service only had 6 people attending. We want to do a memorial service for her at some point so that her nieces and nephews can see her off in the style she deserved.

Not spending money on non essentials. Haven't really bought anything but food (except a new school uniform for ds2 which was worn for about 6 weeks in between isolations during Autumn term and probably won't fit next year now he has had a massive lockdown growth spurt) since the start of lockdown one.

And coffee bags - quick and easy real coffee for one. More expensive in theory than making a whole pot, but no waste.

TTCat39 · 04/02/2021 16:45

@Nsky

Duolingo, started French 10 months ago, going ok, it can only improve
Me too, @Nsky ! I think it's a great way of learning. Even when my day has gone completely to pot, I feel like i've achieved something if I spend ten minutes on it. I have had a laugh at some things Duo has come out with - there's whole blogs somewhere on t'internet about weird phrases it's presented! Did you do French at school , or was it completely new to you?

Which pasta subscription do you use?
TonTonMacoute · 04/02/2021 16:51

Making all my own bread, by hand.

Nsky · 04/02/2021 16:59

I did a bit, just wanted much more, hopefully hol next year for my 60th!

YouLando · 04/02/2021 17:00

Running x3 a week, after doing C25k in the autumn of last year.
Have started to get back onto reading actual books again, so will definitely carry that on.

Apart from that, hopefully nothing, it's shit.

dreamingofsun · 04/02/2021 17:01

making bread rolls with my bread machine (didnt realise it was so easy), using soap bars instead of liquid soap as better for environment, taking things a bit more slowly rather than rushing.

JimmyTheBrave · 04/02/2021 17:01

Another one who can't believe I never bothered with click and collect groceries before; I'll definitely continue using that service.

My work will have a flexible approach when our office eventually reopens so I'll choose to spend the majority of the week WFH.

Hopefully people won't return to breathing down your neck in a queue, that's one thing I don't miss.

wintermoths · 04/02/2021 17:02

Absolutely fucking nothing. I've hated it.

tsmainsqueeze · 04/02/2021 17:06

Will stick to avoiding the majority of the news on tv , feel much better for that of late.
Meal planning , i have done this for a while anyway but much more through lockdown.
I plan to carry on with hand gel when out .
I quite like not seeing many people too !

Shinyletsbebadguys · 04/02/2021 17:07

I'm another one for meal planning. I've been doing more elaborate breakfasts for DC which because I'm bone lazy at heart I got the times down to practically nothing so I will continue when they go back to school because it really really boosts them. (I confess I was a toast and yoghurt mum before...the horror Grin).

Slowcooker freezer bags have been fantastic. I will continue that because weirdly with more time on my hands I found loads of time saving food options (and money saving ).

Running but that was more of a return as I used to be a runner but through Ill health it had stopped.

Basically being more patient. I can be insanely controlling and I know that. I was forced to manage that because it's a lot harder for everyone else to live with 24/7. I had been making inroads but lockdown has forced me to be more patient and go with the flow and I can see huge benefits in it.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 04/02/2021 17:07

The only thing I can think of is washing my hands more frequently. I never washed them after opening the post for example.

Most things I've always done - like getting Tesco Deliveries.

Haven't started yoga/running etc so nothing new to 'keep up' 🤷🏻‍♀️

dreamingofsun · 04/02/2021 17:09

shiny - yes agree with going with the flow more. witches - yoga is great especially as you get older as stops you seezing up

Oddgirlout · 04/02/2021 17:09

Comfortable clothes, hiit workouts

Stuffthisstuff · 04/02/2021 17:12

Scan and go - love the lack of contact
Cut and dye own hair
No fakey kissing or hugging
Actually, no physical contact with anyone apart from partner and kids
Buy fewer clothes, make up etc - just buy much less in general really
Not sell our house - it's actually lovely where we live
Blow all our money on holidays, every last penny!

CarryOnPlainHunting · 04/02/2021 17:13

Daily cryptic crossword
Weekly bread and cake delivery

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/02/2021 17:14

High strength hand gel, 70% plus alcohol should stay for all of us it would reduce colds in the population.

I’m sticking with separate bathrooms;
Readly app.
Online library e books.
The scan and pay apps for supermarkets.
Not speaking to people.

Bivvy · 04/02/2021 17:15

What is this weekly pasta subscription? Sounds interesting

PrincessNutNuts · 04/02/2021 17:18

WFH, spending more time with my husband and kids, not rushing to meet an arbitrary time that doesn't really matter, comfy practical clothes, exercising outdoors and at home.
Being fussy about who we spend time with. Being at home more, Not having to be busy all the time. Wearing less make up, teaching the kids how to cook all the things we regularly eat, Doing laundry every day.

Bloodybridget · 04/02/2021 17:18

We never had supermarket deliveries before the pandemic, I used to quite enjoy doing a shop, but it certainly is convenient - I'm not sure what I'll do in future. Regular video calls with DP's sister will be kept on.
